Roy’s devotion to his routines is insane. He gets these ideas, takes a sharp left turn down a mental road and drives for miles and miles.
Roy Wood, Jr. is one of the great storytellers of our time. As good as his jokes are, his stories of growing up and getting into comedy are even better. He's an underappreciated bard.

Greatest story teller of this generation. That “Smitty” story he tells about working the buffet and the county jail might be the best comedy I’ve heard in my life.

But oh my God there are very few people who could go that long for the pay off and have it work. He is amazing. I want it to be the straight truth with no exaggeration but in the end I guess it doesn’t matter. I have very few people who are a “remote drop” for me but he is absolutely one for me.

I am beginning to like this man more and more. There's a kind of charismatic cheekiness in his performances and the way he tells his stories. If there's ever the possibility of meeting him, first one is on me.
I saw him in 2007 or 2008 at the Comedy Showcase in Houston. Bought a couple of his prank phone call cds and then lost them in a fire 2 years ago. That story seemed less interesting the more I wrote...

It's an unbelievable amount of work and usually they end up doing you they way they've been done. But that in itself is a statement born of my own insecurities. 🤷🏾♂️
