      I agree. And some guys are saying the procharger have heating issues and it takes up all of the little trunk you do have. If you go procharger you are better off just eliminating your trunk. GM should have done this instead of worrying about stupid golf clubs fitting.

    I’d go with the Lingefelter. I have a Pro Charger on my street C5 and by the time it really kicks in at 4,000 RPM I’m already doing crazy speeds. I don’t want to get thrown in jail. So I hardly can even come close to redlining it. I’d rather be able to tap into the power much sooner and feel like I’m getting my money’s worth.

    Nice video but I disagree with the mag as more of a daily driver. If you have the factory zo6 set up then yes. However in my opinion as for aftermarket supercharger set ups as a daily, pro charger hands down. If you stay under boost you are relatively going to have a stock feel and miles per gallon. With the pro charger at least on my camaro boost doesn’t start kicking in till you’re in the 3k to mid 3k rpm’s and power stays linear till red line. With the mag the power is instant, kills gas mileage and power falls off at higher rpm. For that reason I went with pro charger and couldn’t be happier. The pro charger has the best of both worlds for daily driver and drag strip use. Also sounds like a F-14 with the uncut gears and big red bypass valve. To each is own though.

    Plain and simple, the pricing is prohibitive for what you get. The FI forums are dead. For all the C8's out there, a minuscule amount are doing any kind of forced induction. With about 130,000 or more C8's out there, we should be seeing a bunch being modded. People just aren't into it for the price tag. Then there is the poor roll performance issue. Spending a ton just to get to a so so 60-130 pull.

    • @ParagonPerformance
      @ParagonPerformance  Před 4 měsíci +1

      We do agree that FI is expensive on this platform but unfortunately it isn't as simple as the older models. We hope in the following years pricing comes down on kits so more can get into the aftermarket performance. While it is pricey, once you drive a FI C8 Corvette you realize the cost is worth the enjoyment.

    Spot the difference:
    The Procharger High Output Intercooled System with P-1SC-1 (satin finish) kit for the C8 Corvette is $19,999.
    The Procharger High Output Intercooled System with P-1SC-1 (satin finish) kit for the C7 Corvette is $7,199.
    Did you notice? Notice how the C8 Corvette owners are being taken advantage of, how I consider they are being taken for mugs. There is no excuse for it.
    IF you PAY IT, they will CHARGE IT, all day long they will.
    So what COSTS an extra $12,800 between the two systems? It doesn't does it. The $$$difference is what Procharger think folks with C8 Corvettes will be daft enough to pay.
    When the Procharger unit for the C8 Corvette is similar in price to the C7 Corvette then it'd likely be worth getting, until then both of these different Supercharger systems are far too expensive.
    Especially the Lingenfelter, at (starting from!) $25k. Yea, PLUS the US State sales tax, an average of around 8% across the US Nation. So another $2k on top.
    PLUS of cause, if needed, as many would be, the FITTING costs*, with State sales tax on top of that. We are told the C8 LT2 engine has to come out when fitting the Lingenfelter kit. Even more fitting costs then.
    For the time being having checked out the costs I would avoid getting either Supercharger kits.
    How is a C8 Corvette in the first place not fast enough anyway? Within 3.5 secs or less exceeding the National speed limit.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    * The Lingenfelter MAGNUSON TVS2650 Chevrolet C8 Corvette DI 700 Horsepower Supercharger Package, we are told "is ONLY sold as an installed program". To be fitted BY Lighenfelter OR an authorised installer.
    NO CLARIFICATION whether or not the $25k kit cost includes fitting, of cause if it was surely THIS would be prominently mentioned on the Ligenfelter website.
    Currently then, clouded in obfuscation and I suspect a more realistic $30k+ price tag.
    I would avoid both packages.

    • @ParagonPerformance
      @ParagonPerformance  Před 4 měsíci +1

      There are many differences between the C7 and C8 kits besides the price. The C8 System includes an intake manifold with a built in air to water intercooler. That system also needs an additional pump, a radiator, wiring and plumbing. On top of that the brackets and shaft are more complex on the C8 than the C7.
      The Lingenfelter Magnuson Kit includes the installation so there would be no additional costs for dropping the engine or any of the fitting of the parts.

      Do you think they had a little wizard tucked away at the supercharger factory, waving his arms around, casting spells all over the place? They have to pay the engineers to come up with a specifically designed setup for the C8's newly developed engine. Then you have to figure out how to make the casting dyes for every single part because it's an entirely different engine. Do you have any idea how much just the tooling would end up costing the wizards at the supercharger factory? I have a slightly educated guess what the price might be because I worked in an aluminum foundry for a while in my early twenties while consuming large amounts of varying substances. It blew my mind when I found out how much the casting dye was for a Honda push mower transmission cover/heatsink of which I was the only person in the entire company that was capable and intelligent enough to pass Honda's certification to produce those parts.......I was doing more dope than you could shake a stick at so how I managed to pass that certification is one of the mysteries of the universe that may never be solved 😂

      Yeah - unfortunately it is a pretty complex platform to mod with the engine being mid mounted. A lot of the cost is labor but there is quite a bit that goes into the mechanical components as well. I think costs may come down some with time but it is not a great platform to mod for anyone on modest budget or where budget is not an issue but you still want a good bang for the buck. However, if you love these cars and want more power, these kit will do it and make the cars a lot more fun to drive. So far, everyone who's done has been really happy in the end but most of them aren't looking for raw performance or x to xx times. There are better platforms for that for sure.
