Yeah, they did change the order so they don't jump back and forth between the past and present. We will be in the past for a long time now.
And because they were using the same actor, they gave him a mask and his whole body came back, not just his soul.
As for the romantic bits, they found impressive ways to get around censorship. There's not a lot of touches like in the animation, but there are a lot of longing glances with their eyes.

No he did invent the compass of evil in novel so it's him and this episode is exactly the same as in novel

The Untamed is more faithful to the original books in adaptation than the Donghua (anim version) Make sense since donghua had way less episodes and each episodes was way shorter. So they cut out lots of the story, made lots of short cuts and also changed some narrative. You can’t really compare these two adaptations to each other as they are both adapted from the books. Which means that if you find some scene in one adaptation and don’t in the other version, it doesn’t mean it´s missing, it may be that is not in the books. Like the whole sequence at the beggining with Wuxian resorection and wrecking the Mo mannor, Yeah donghua really adapted that very “freely”, while the drama stays faithful to the books. So you should really stop comparing these two. Donghua is not the one this drama is adapted from. So there will be a lots of things in which they will be different. As I said in general the drama more faithfull to the original books. Drama has also way more cenzorship, because in China its considered mainstream. So for example it cańt have Zombies. Yeah believe it or not concept of Zombies or reanimated dead bodies, forbidden in China 😂😂🤣🤣🤣 Also the mask is drama only simply because they didn’t want to double cast the role 🤣 Best decision they made. These two actors have on screen chemistry I have not seen in very long time ❤️😜

I wouldn’t say the untamed is MORE faithful to the novel than the donghua. They both take different liberties and add and leave out stuff in their own ways. For example the whole yin iron search that was invented for the cql, or wwx meeting xue yang, Xiao xingchen and song lan as a teenager. I could also mention the sword that replaced the severed body parts, wwx's death, the death of the wen remnants and so on that were more faithful to the novel in the donghua. Also there are some major difference in the main character’s characterizations.

Wei wuxian invented quite a few items that the world continued to use after his death like the spirit flags, and the compass. The donghua and live action are adaptations from the novel.

from a story telling point make more sense not to jump back and forth in the time line in a live action adaptation. Than being said, prepare yourself for a long flashback. It's going to be such an emotional roller coaster. For me the best part is how the show takes its time to introduce and flesh out the characters and the relations between the. You won't stay indifferent to them and their destiny.

WY's crappy flute after resurrection is an on going joke from the novel so if something is a bit puzzling, its probably from the book. Also, I think you will enjoy this version. The chemistry between the leads are 😍😍😍😍😍, just wait for it.

Hi, there! I'm so happy you're liking the changes. Really enjoying your energy and enthusiasm.
That guy who said Wei Wuxian is his idol must be someone who is into demonic cultivation or just thinks wwx was cool? I mean, there are plenty of people in the real world who are into bad, fucked up stuff and don't care what others think so just an instance of people being people, I guess. Very questionable for sure. That comment wouldn't fly if said in front of Jiang Cheng, though lol.
In this version it is said that Mo Xuanyu would wear the mask or paint his face while in Jinlintai (or golden carp tower idk by which name you know it), that's why Jin Ling recognizes it. You'll get more Wei Wuxian and the juniors interactions in the future. He does take a mentor role, and it is so enjoyable and cute to watch. Jiang Cheng loves to make empty threats, especially towards Jin Ling. He loves that child with his entire sad, bitter heart.
Yes, that is the Wangxian song!! The romantic subtext is strong despite censorship. I was crying by the end 🫠
You'll love Wen Ning in this version, too. Wen Ning/Ghost General was supposedly burned to death along his sister when they surrendered to the Jin clan after Jin Zixuan's death. That's why Jiang Cheng didn't believe what he was being told. We obviously know he wasn't turned to ashes but was instead kept prisoner by the Jin clan.
Oh yes! It is time for the very long flashback!!! The fun and the pain begin, yay 🥹
(May I know what you are knitting?)

Thank you so much! I just got through the next two, and I do very much like Wen Ning.
I'm currently working on a shawl and a scarf. This one is the shawl.

@@kit.cat.corner That makes me happy! I think for a lot of people this show really clicked by the fifth episode but I'm glad you're liking it already. It helps that you've seen the donghua so you're not completely lost. Wen Ning is just so genuine and kind.
Nice! You must have a lot of patience then. Knitting is such a cool skill to have.

I really liked your reactions and after you're done with the live action I would recommend you to either read the books or at least read the manhua (which is a resume but more faithful to the books).
I'm gonna be waiting for your updates! ❤

Just a heads-up, due to censorship issues, the show cant show direct lgbtq relationship and "ghosts/necromancy" in the show.

YOUR COMMENTS MAKE ZERO SENSE WHEN YOU question the basic storyline. In all of the 5 or 6 versions of Grandmaster, the Jin clan swears they destroyed Wen Ning. Turned him into ashes. In all other versions, there is a body switch b/c Mo Xuanyu is shorter than Lan Zhan. Wei Ying's orig. body is NOT so much shorter than Lan Wangji - if at all. In the drama, they switched consciousness if you will.
