Hi, I think you might have misunderstood the beginning part of the library scene. Wei Wuxian did draw Lan Zhan on that piece of paper. But what Lan Zhan teared later was a porn book that was switched by Wei Wuxian. So basically when Lan Zhan was looking at that piece of drawing Wei did for him, Wei switched Lan's book into a porn book that he got from Nie Huaisang. Does that make sense?

In the drama, they switched consciousness if you will.

I just randomly came across you and I’ve subscribed to follow your journey through my all time favorite story ever. I can’t wait. And no worries, the first episode is always like this for everyone I’ve seen watch it.

This is so great. The Yin Iron subplot was added because of obscure censorship rules (protagonists can't do really "evil" stuff and you can't actually "raise the dead (they leave some wiggle room about whether wwx was actually dead, and Wen Ning, well you'll see) hence Wen Ruohan being the one using puppets first, etc.) It is very different to the book. You might approach it as very well done fanfiction at this point. It does give the women characters more of a role, which I personally appreciate. Like the sibling relationship between Wen Qing and Wen Ning. Plus Xue Yang showing up early, working for Wen Ruohan is a fun twist, to me.

The live action censorship doesn't really allow for actually resurecting the dead, so they do some hand-wavy stuff about Wei Wuxian maybe not having been dead and Wen Ning maybe not being completely dead. The rules allow for Ghost puppets and fierce corpses, but not people coming back with their full consciousness. It's weird, but it was dictated by censorship.

The Mo dad is dead. he was one of the ones who died. Lan Zhan doesn't know it is him, but he detected traces of the Yin Hu Fu on the "sword spirit" they captured (another difference) and connected it to Wei Ying.

I was introduced to the live action first, then the novel and THEN the donghua, so its fun seeing someone that watched the donghua but never read the novel. Ever since I read the novel I now get annoyed at the live action for not making them ONLY fly on swords (they can do both in the live action).

I’d go into the untamed trying not to compare too much or you’ll give yourself an aneurysm. The donghua is almost if not a 1:1 to the novels. The Untamed is an adaptation of it (almost a betterment really even if there are some things I wish it could have implemented+Chinese censorship shenanigans). The Untamed changes or moves a lot of parts to try and make sense of the timeline gibberish the novels throw at you. It also focuses a lot more on character development - and maybe the plot suffers a tad from it honestly but the donghua exists for that. Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian are close brothers. Life just sucks for Jiang Cheng a lot and he’s a sour thing. King of the “exasperated(affectionate) with Wei Wuxian” club as a teenager. I love your reactions to it so far, it’s fun to rewatch them be dumb teenagers being thrown in way too big for them conflicts. Hope you’ll continue having fun.

Wei wuxian invented quite a few items that the world continued to use after his death like the spirit flags, and the compass. The donghua and live action are adaptations from the novel.

The 4 cuts are listed in the book and manhua ... the 3 from Mo family and 1 servant.

They do introduce a lot of characters a lot earlier than they're originally introduced in the novel and other adaptions. But that just gives us more time to get to know them. I also just love how much Xichen in this version is a shipper. Look at him already putting thoughts into his brother's head that Wei Wuxian would be a good friend to have. Xichen is the captain of the WangXian ship

I think people in the Lan clan expect that when you go there you already know the rules. Lan Zhan probably knows everything about the other clans and he sees this as respect. Yan Li and Zi Xuan have a complex relationship and he's a jerk

If I recall correctly in the donhua they left it as it is in the book (the part where the clans send their disciples to Gusu to study) while in the live action they changed so the relationship between Yan Li and Zi Xuan can be understood better. And to make sense that they weren't dead people but puppets, they also made some changes to the Seal, which is broken in pieces.

The Untamed and the donghua are quite different. The Untamed focused more on the character development, hence, earlier introduction of characters. Unfortunately, because of stricter censorship on the live action, the powers, esp. those of WWX are toned down. And since they cannot show zombies, they had to introduce puppets. On the otherhand, the donghua is more fast-paced and action packed as they have more freedom in animations. Another thing to note, The Untamed is known to have a low budget hence some CGIs leave much to be desired. And the number of extras were so limited. Like a supposed to be 3000 people are like 40-50 people only. But it still delivers.

now we are starting the long journey of 30+ episodes of flashback. Fasten your seatbelts and get ready your tissues. It's going to be a up and down ride.

la serie tiene tiempos en que presentan a los personajes, la mayoria tiene mas tiempo en pantalla para desarrollarse, eso me encanto de la serie. y el chico que casi lo ahorcan en la lava es xue yang, si has visto el donghua esos son personajes de eventos que pasaron mientras wwx estaba muerto pero aqui los traen al mismo tiempo de su adolescencia, asi que ya veras como influye en la historia. :D

The major charactors are so much more than can be imagined from MDZS. The Untamed does an incredibel job at presenting another but very close version of MDZS. Its the one of the most unsual, beautiful, heartwrenching, Unpredictable cinematic rides ever. Enjoy

"Awfully played", they repeat this sentence at the 2nd episode too. That's because the audience hears the flute like Wen Ning or Lan Zhan does, like from their POV, while the others are hearing sth awful.
