Shrines was next level shit. i don't think they could ever really top that.
i am sorry but i do not agree. whilst somewhat maintaining their roots in their shrines sound, another eternity is most definitely catering to a more mainstream audience. just compare the rhythms/beats, the melodies have become simpler, megan's voice lacking that classic shrines reverb, even the instruments have changed ! yeah its not quite pop but they know what they're going for and they're nailing it. getting the money now that they deserved to get from shines for sure.

It has always been and probably always will be electronic music, which is by all means a pop genre. Pop is simply an umbrella term that people take too far. Not sure what people get at by saying they hope they dont "go pop". They have always had that trap/hip hop beats, nice strings, synths and airy vocals. Its unique for sure, but people act like PR was all folksy like bjork or abstract like Autechre. lol
the more i listen to it, the more disappointed i become. the only reason to do this is money, you don't just throw away a sound that is brilliant in its uniqueness and style. they had the most identifiable sound out there. and then they said , fuck that , lets go the other way.

I played this song in the car yesterday after about 3 years of not hearing it. I cried uncontrollably until my body literally... ached lol. I used to listen to purity ring with my old best friend who now doesn't even talk to me and it just took me straight back to all our memories together. The progression of time sucks.
Sorry to hear of your friend. I had never heard them until I went to st thomas usvi with my brother. We rarely see each other (different states and lives) but we spent 10 days sun bathing on the beach jamming to each others music. I get happy sad Everytime I play it now
