- ゲンタロウは約10ヶ月くらい人工哺育で育ったので、モモタロウが赤ちゃんと最初から生活するのは今回が初めてです。
モモタロウは生まれる前に父親を亡くしてるので、キンタロウとの生活で父親として多くの事を勉強してると思います。
Kintaro is Momotaro's second son, but Gentaro was an artificial nurse from the 5th day to 10 months of age, so this is the first time Momotaro has lived with his baby.
Momotaro's father died before he was born, so he is studying what to do as a father in his life with Kintaro.
⚠️ The zoo will be closed for some time from April 7 to prevent the spread of coronavirus(covid-19) infection.

⭐️モモタロウ Momotaro ♂(2000/7/3)
momotaro was born at Ueno zoo in Tokyo on jul.3,2000 and came to our zoo on Oct.18,2010.
He is beautiful and handsome ,the silverback of our troop.
He is a little timid,and scared of new things.
He sometimes shows lovely behaviors that melt our hearts.
He is making efforts to be a good dad for his two sons.
⭐️ゲンキ Genki ♀(1986/6/24)
Genki was born at our zoo on Jun,24,1986.
After mating with several males without a pregnancy she found her perfect partner.Momotaro.
Now she is a loving and caring mom for her two sons.
She sometimes behaves boldly,yet she can also be sensitive.
Genki has a cute face with shining eyes.
⭐️ゲンタロウ Gentaro ♂(2011/12/21))
Gentaro was born at our zoo on Dec.21,2011,as Momotaro and Genki's first son.
Unfortunately Genki didn't have enough milk,so he was nursed by keepers for his first 10.5 months.
Now he loves his mom,and his face really looks like her.
He also loves people .
Everyone immediately agrees that he is a very adorable boy.
⭐️キンタロウ Kintaro ♂(2018/12/19)
Kintaro was born at our zoo on Dec.19,2018.
His big brother sometimes touches him a bit too roughly,but he is well protected by Genki.
The father Momotaro is also interested in him,but Genki hasn"t let Momotaro to touch him yet.

Momotaro is very respectful to Genki. He knows that she is a little scared, so he cares about their mother and child silently at a distance every time 😚👍🏻, I think this is the romantic love ❤️🥰
Pauline did you notice that sometimes Genki will throw stuff at momentaro. Somewhere in the first part when kintaro climbs in that black doorway. She kind off threw some dirt. Just to let him know she wasn’t pleased. Lol

Elf Warrior101 Maybe a mother Gorilla that is nursing has less sexual interest in the male or perhaps as she ages she has lower libido and that’s why she moves away from him when he clearly wants to get her attention by coming up to her face to face like he does. It’s all pretty normal behaviour I expect. It looks like she isn’t interested in him as she always looks away from him and then she eventually moves away from him. He is probably a little bored and sex is one thing he hopes for, but she is clearly not interested in that at this particular time, based on just these clips. He’s not aggressive about it but it appears that he is tenacious, but what do I really know? I wish we could ask an expert about this.
Momotaro is one of the most gentlest fathers ive seen. Having said that mother gorilla are very protective because silverbacks have been known to injure their babues by just handling them.

Momo, you are one majestic gorilla that I know of. Your impeccable manner will put other fathers to shame. I watch this footage all the time and bless you. You are truly magnificent in every way. It must have been so hard to control your urge to hold your cherished, son. I know that you are making up for the lost time now. I can see how overprotective you are on Kintaro. Well, all that I can say is, what a lucky boy the boys are. Momotaro is a great, loving, and affectionate father. He is truly a role model to his children.

1:29 is adorable with Momo just trying to catch a glimpse of his baby. I remember these days, she would never put little knuckles down, wouldn’t let Momo or Gentaro get close. Now she is still very protective over little knuckles, I should say chunky knuckles.
He's made up for it. Recent videos show countless dad and son bonding. Mum wasn't disrespectful, she had a tough first pregnancy which eventually turned out well, so she was just cautious. The whole family are thriving 😘

Wow, she never looks at Momotaro. Whenever he approaches her, she looks away. Momotaro is so patient, kind, and gentle, I wish Genki could trust him just a little bit. Well, in her own time.
Making eye contact in the gorilla world means you are challenging them. It's a direct threat. She doesn't want to do that, she's a good mama!
It’s on the alpha male’s terms. It usually initiates anything. She reacts on instinct, respect the alphas space, dont look at him in the eye. Remember her instinct asa mother is protect her offspring, she avoids any confrontation by being submissive

Poor Momotaro. He just wanted to be close to Genki and baby Kinny but Genki kept moving away from him. He would then follow and it would repeat 😂. It’s just beautiful how he would just stare at Kintaro 🥰🥰

She is not so dumb , many male gorilla's kill their babies so the mother will be ready to breed again ....in this case he is one of the good fathers, so she is just careful , but not militant about it. It is a beautiful thing to watch!

That's been seen in langurs, not gorillas, and males will kill the offspring of _other males_ so they can breed with the female. They don't kill their own offspring.
In gorillas, should two troops combine (eg, the silverback of one troop dies, so the females join another), there is a chance that the silverback will kill any offspring of the new females, but silverbacks have _also_ been known to adopt and raise babies that aren't theirs, so it depends on the individual and his personality.
Silverbacks do not kill their own offspring. Not intentionally, anyway.
There are numerous cases where a silverback will _accidentally_ injure or kill his young, particularly if he's a young and/or inexperienced father, and it happens often enough that _most_ females set boundaries that silverbacks are expected to respect, until the babies are older.
This is seen especially often in the case of inexperienced parents, like Momo and Genki. An experienced father knows more about how to be careful when interacting with their kids, so mothers are more lenient. But Momo has never been around babies before. That's why Genki is protective. It's not because Momo might intentionally kill his kids, because that's not something that males do in the animal world. It's because he's huge and tough and ungodly strong, and Kintaro is tiny and fragile.
The species in which infanticide happens is always the case of a male killing the offspring of _other_ males, not his own. And gorillas do not routinely engage in infanticide.
Genki is protective because Momo is inexperienced, not because there's a chance he'd intentionally kill Kintaro.
They do kill theyr offsprings, unintentionally, during fights with other males or else, it has recorded in the wild. it seem to me after watched those videos that the mother is older than him and probabilly she had much more experience in handle this kind of situations. in any case the father is just intrigued to his son in those clips and he is handling well.
She doesn't want the baby to bug dad to much... the dad is so gentle 😍
Such a good daddy. Sweet boy, Momo, Incredible how a massive creature can be so caring. I read that Silverbacks, in the wild, will take a family over, when the old head of the family dies, and he will often kill the nursing young of that male who has passed, to ensure his own bloodline. The fact that they are capable of such a thing when nature calls them to behave so, makes it even more moving to watch this magnificent gentle father.

I thinks is very sad the way Genki rejects Momotaro every time he tries do get near the baby.
Looks like he wants to get to know and bond with his little boy but mom won’t let him do it.
And the part when Momo and Kin hold hands was really beautiful. It’s a shame they don’t have the opportunity to become close.
Maybe they should find another wife for him. Expand this group so he can have a bigger family.

I watch a lot of the gorilla families, n love them all, but Momotaro is my favorite silverback! I do wish they would give them more fruits and vegetables though, n get a bigger place for them Genki is a a little strange lol!
