Adam Image PS1 test on the 280v! (Over 60 games tested!)

- The 280v is a great little handheld. It's perfect for 16 bit systems like GBA, SNES, and older stuff like NES, GB, GBC, SEGA, ATARI, etc, but it has the guts to handle some 3d stuff, and since PlayStation is the easiest 3d console to emulate, I wanted to do an extended test in a whole bunch of games to see how it handled everything.
So yeah, we're all loaded up with a big batch of PS1 games. I googled the most popular PS1 games and I got pretty much everything off the list, so if there's a big PS1 game that you're looking to see tested you'll probably see it here. Lots of these games I haven't played, but lots of them I have. I had a PS1 back in the day and I loved it, so playing through some of these games will be a blast from the past. I don't want to get into technical discussions of FPS and performance tweaks, I just want to know what plays well right out of the box, if it plays okay or not. I already did some preliminary testing and, spoiler alert, pretty much everything ran great. So without further adieu, let's PLAY SOME GAMES.

I played the heck out of Fighting Force back in the PS1 days. It was pretty sweet. I'd definitely recommend you play more if you never did.
Wondering if maybe you have any tips. I recently got a RG280M and got adamas image successfully installed and going. Every ps1 game has run but I can't get Rayman to boot past the ubisoft screen. Just stays stuck. I've tried redownloading the ROM from different places thinking maybe its the source but nope same thing every time. I'm stumped
My only suggestion would be to use PSX Packager to turn your image (or bin/cue files) into a PBP file. That has worked for me in the past, getting a game to load that wouldn't.

Just an 280v recently. Unfortunately, three PS1 games become unplayable:
1) Nanotek Warrior didn't go beyond the intro screen
2) Ghost in the Shell PS1 is just black screen
3) Future Cop LAPD just crashed.

Nah. I tried Ghost in the Shell, had the same issue. Apparently you can install Retroarch on this device which MIGHT give you better performance, but I haven't tried it yet.
Can you transfer games that are already on the cheap SD card over to the new one and run them with this OS?

The thing I would love if someone could make a list of the 5000 pre loaded games that come with this thing. I noticed it got a 2022 update and this thing seems perfect. Do all these games come on it? I don't have a PC I'm hoping they do.
Yes the games come on it. Sorry I can't give you a list, but if memory serves me correctly the rom list was well done, no weird japanese or hacky romsets or anything.

That's awesome games come on it I'm mainly wanting it for those Pokémon games, all the final fantasy games 1-9 and Zedia games including Minish Cap. The Secret of Evermore and Secret of Mana games including Super Mario RPG. Then finally the old Mario games. Thanks for reply.

To make front mission 3 work. Core settings - HLE emulated bios off and save override settings

Yes, but you'll need to format it in FAT32 format.

You can set RetroArch hot key and I set select to be hotkey and press start simultaneously to shut a game

Google the name of the rom you want (for example, "super mario world snes rom"). Or, if you want a whole set, google that (for example, "snes rom set").

Mini - Better size. More pocket friendly. Better screen. I prefer the look of the mini. Software has some nice bells & whistles.
280v - a bit more powerful. Different but still cool retro look. More 'premium' feeling in the hands. I love the adam image software.
Both are great, but the mini wins, for me at least.
I'd enjoy watching some "TechDweeb Plays" videos or watching walk-thru about some of those gems you play.

They are pretty similar performance wise, I prefer the mini because I like the software better and I prefer the look and feel of the mini, but honestly they're almost equal performance so just get whichever you like the look of better.

I beat that Spider-Man game it's excellent but my favorite Spider-Man game so far is ultimate Spider-Man for ps2.

I didn't play the PS2 one, but I LOVED the PS1 games (1 and 2). I was (and still am) a stealth fan NUT. They weren't exactly stealth, they're kinda cheesy now that I look at them again years later, but at the time they really sucked me in. I also played that one on the Xbox 360 but I didn't love it nearly as much as the originals.
Oh, and ultimate spider man is my all-time favourite spider man game.
