For anybody wondering; the light is red instead of white because red preserves night sensitivity. Red lights are used by astronomers to retain the ability to see dim stars and to move around their setup in maxium darkness. The only trade-off is that it takes some time to become sensitive to seeing under red light conditions, as red light carries so little stimulating energy for the eyes. A better trade-off is a yellow, orange, or amber light, to which the eyes quickly adjust to, while still able to preserve most night sensitivity.
I like amber colored lights are nice they make a more realistic perception color when still being better for your night vision than white light. Any light if bright enough will ruin night vision but it is a cool thing to play around with!

Tin foil has many uses, one that comes first in mind, is to cook in it, like some roots you dig in a survival situation or anything you can lay your hands on..
Yea you’re right for sure I like to have 2 sheets of foil with me. It takes up next to no room and it does have piles of uses. I like making the cup out of it. That can be used to boil water in and cook in.

Not M K 1, its Mark 1. :) Just keeping your from making booboo's :) Good video by the way. Okay, a survival kit from England, makes sense to have a fishing kit. But in the survival scenario, I teach. You may only have to spend a night or two, and unless your by a big enough stream to fish. Its added weight. Although, if you have a good needle you can use the fishing line to sew stuff up. Something else you can do with those cubes, is put them in a small Nalgene type bottle or jar. I'm all into being able to make one thing, do two things. Nice to see water purification tablets and first aid supplies in the kit. Get one of those Write in the Rain notebooks and the pen that goes with it. Coffee filters have many uses, from filtering water, to using as a fire starter to that trip to the No. 2 Bush :) Its an okay kit for water storage is sketchy at best.

That’s number one to me. You’re definitely right about the one to two night thing. Where I live for the most part I will find a road before a day or two. Are bullion cubes really that good of idea? I heard about rehydrating with them and boiled some on my stove to help with a small hangover and it destroyed my stomach. I'm glad I know how I react to them but that may be something people want to check out prior to throwing them in their kits because who wants to try and survive when you have the runs? I'm new to the channel and just subscribed and im happy to see you have a good bit of content. I might have to try to get my hands on this kit just for the tin to be honest.
Yea this kit used to be super available everywhere for a good price now it has mostly disappeared but honestly all bouillon cubes are is broth. 1 cube and one cup of water makes a cup of beef or chicken broth. Maybe it has some kind of preservatives in the cubes that disagrees with you. Thanks for the view and the sub I really appreciate it! I’m going to test these kits outside eventually outdoors!
Yes it’s definitely a company’s way to skimp out of tossing in a small decent folder. They charge a good bit for these I don’t think it would hurt to toss a small crkt knife or Keshaw in the price is low and the quality it’s good for most of their knives
while some of the components of this kit ( and others like it) are not bad to have with you, labeling this as a "survival" kit, and marketing it to people who do not know better is dangerous. people with little to no training, or experience. get out into the woods with this in their pocket thinking it will effect survival. the most important components are missing, and would never fit in that kit to begin with. The items it does have require some knowledge and experience to use properly. and the missing items ( cover, water conveyance (useable to boil and store), cutting tools, etc. ) are very much more important than a half-ass fishing kit, a couple gauze pads, a snare wire (that requires a LOT of information to use) and some salt. I have said more times than I can recall, Altoids tins are not kits, they can hold components for an actual kit. I have done a few videos on quick grab-n-go kits. including a couple using water bottle bags as the entire kit, but with water in the bottle.
Absolutely these kits are basically a supplement or last ditch supplies for people that know what they are doing in the woods I would never recommend someone getting lost with only this kit. If your skill set is good enough you can survive a cold night in the woods with a good shelter and a fire. I would recommend everyone get out and get some experience not in a survival situation. These kits do give people an idea of some items to make pocketable kit that can help them through a rough night lost in the woods with their skill set. I think a lot of people just running out into the woods for a quick hike are not going to take a 72 hour hiking backpack loaded with gear but a small kit like this will fit into a cargo shorts pocket and off you go. As I always say I would keep the kit more oriented with fire, water procurement, and shelter aspects before I added a fishing kit or snare wires. As I said before though I would rather have this in my pocket than nothing at all. Snare wire can be used to construct a shelter or fixed a broken pack strap. Fishing line can be used for sewing cloths or hanging things up. You don’t have to be an experienced survival master to know how to put something together with some wire . I’ve even been bored before and just used the little fishing kits to tie to a branch and toss a line in the water to try to catch panfish when I don’t have a rod. This works as a LDK or a supplement to a larger kit
@@whitetailsurvival2430 I agree with you on all of that. why I said these were dangerous is places like wal-mart, and Amazon are selling these to complete neubs, and giving them the false sense of "survival" much like in the '70s when teens were going to see Chuck Norris movies, then going to their friends, and thinking that made them a black belt. my 10 "C"s plus video has a 6lb bag, with everything that you should carry, plus quite a bit extra. including over 1lb of "boo boo" kit lvl first aid stuff. and that is including 40 oz of water in a stainless bottle, with nesting cup and a water filter. I don't mean to seem like I am attacking your video, it's just that so many of these kits have come out , and last week someone I know told me they bought a Cooglan's kit, so they didn need help putting together a kit before they went to half dome next week. as someone with 50 years in the woods, 10 in the U.S. ARMY jumping out of planes. and a lot of actual life and death time in jungles. this makes me very afraid for them

They should have a crazy 20 lb kit with all the luxuries. People don’t realize how difficult a Ferro rod is to use for the first time. If you’ve never tried it before. With the water container/condimen put in a sock and that will help keep it from over stretching.

It's lacking something else to make fire. I would also add some little knife or multitool and a survival blanket.
I agree a decent knife and survival blanket can make the night a lot better!

Disappointed, in the cutting tool. These days, there are plenty of options for a small folder or even a small fixed blade.

I think part of the problem is shipping internationally. Knife laws vary from place to place. Italy is especially strict on blade length.
