Galaxy S23 Ultra vs iPhone 14 Pro Max Camera Test After Updates (Night Time)

  • Here is the low light camera test of the Galaxy S23 Ultra vs iPhone 14 Pro Max After the software updates. The first major software update for the S23 Ultra hit so I had to do a night time camera test between the iPhone 14 Pro Max vs Galaxy S23 Ultra. Is the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra camera the best right now after the April update or does the iPhone 14 Pro Max remain camera king?

I still can't understand what Samsung aimed to achieve videowise with the Exynos 21 Ultra. Video shot with my old Exynos 21U was plagued by noise which could be rampant and beyond intrusive in shadow detail even in daylight videos, and as for low light video?...It was bad and quite appalling for a flagship. My S23 Ultra on the other hand shoots such detailed and smooth and high quality video with brilliant stabilization. Even on the x10 lens. All this with excellent noise control. The video audio is impressive too. Samsung nailed it this time for sure.

I did not get these soft/unfocused artifacts when using Gcam on my ultra. So its clearly a software thing. Gcam uses Google's ZSL algorithm to process a quick shutter, underexposed shot. But on the Samsung camera, the camera is doing a lot of work and adjustments when you tap the shutter button, before the actual shot is taken and later post processed afterwards.

from all these camera test the iphone is better at video and photo's day and night. it's funny how some say certain lighting conditions how this has more detail or less. How about taking pictures for how many seconds the samsung is needing to take is why the photo's are blurry is b/c the sensor is not able to get in as much light. Apple has such a big advantage and is just king and as far as more color you can choose more color if you want or select something with more color. Samsung should get minus points for editing the photo to look more punchy as you call it. Then select the diff photo setting to make the iphone more punchy and add more seconds to match the samsung to get a brighter shot in the darker spots.

I HATE the "daytime feeling" of nightmode... this is a thing they HAVE to fix on samsung side !
thanks for your amazing videos as usual
PS : I think you don't show enough night photos WITHOUT nightmodes, there is a lot of photos with NIGHT MODE ACTIVATED, but not enough without it, just point and shoot, with no night mode on

Not specifically related to the camera, but Samsung's microphone sounds better.
Well, when inside, they are about the same, maybe even iphone is slightly better, but when you're outside, the samsung microphones sound better

And their night mode, it’s abysmal, compared to even my midrange pixel 4a.
The s23U has potential but I swear Samsung is just trolling us with their night mode at this point.

I would say the video was better on the S23U as it was smoother and more importantly had almost non-existent EIS glitch which was very noticeable on the iPhone.

iphone gets better photos here and there, but if you take a lot photos and videos, samsung will win in 80% of the times. No contest. The only thing Samsung needs to improve its on shutter speed in moving objects. In video at night, Samsung smash the iphone, so much detail.

If you like oversaturated pictures and only zoom pictures then the Samsung is better in 80 percent of the time
