- After Magneto speaks in front of live cameras in various countries, he only wants future mutants but Mystique only stops Magneto so he can kill dr. Trask and Professor Xavier awakened Mystique so that in the future the mutants will continue.

Love how Magneto just recognized Charles wasn’t controlling him and felt that the helmet was no longer necessary. Charles really did grow in this movie. I mean to have Charles powers and not be always in peoples heads must truly be difficult but comes to show the level of strength it takes. Everyone is different. They ALL have their own challenges.

Actually they did, Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix. But you're right, this is crucial ending for X-Men Saga.

Yes, a perfect ending. I wonder what would have happened if they had chosen to continue with this franchise, probably an even worse adaptation of Dark Phoenix, or a forgettable movie with Anya Taylor-Joy, or perhaps one of the best superhero movies ever made and an ending to Wolverine's character before reappearing in the last film of a Deadpool trilogy. Who knows, perhaps it was for the best.

The fact that this senator WENT RIGHT BACK TO BEING ANTI-MUTANT after mystique saved his ungrateful ass means Magneto was right.
In fact these senators almost all did that.
Even the sentinels shut down although magneto wasn’t the one controlling them anymore.
The sentinels gave more of a shit about mutants than the senators did.
In fact now for my fanfic, I am trying to work in a disillusioned soldier arc for a sentinel. A kinder magneto is in a bar, like club Q. The sentinel is sent in to kill him. But before it gets there, a mass shooting goes down.
It gets there during the mass shooting time and sees Mystique save a human baby and transform into its mother to keep it calm.
Immediately the sentinel freezes, saying with its voice box “I can’t…” then it steps over to block bullets.
Realistically the fact that mutants COULD threaten National Security and that they came this close would have been all the evidence they'd need regardless if Mystique saved them or not 😑

Low key highlight, the look on President Nixon’s face when he realizes this whole thing was a mistake. Sort of something I guess we all need to do sometimes.
He also was hella pissed at Trask for dragging him in that mess to begin with.
And, as David Frost proved, Nixon did not admit mistakes easily.
Great thing about the prequels is it made minor characters important. We only saw beast in X-Men 3. Mystique was someone who fought along side Erick but we didn't know why. These films made us figure those characters were actually a lot more important.
Professor and Magneto has such an old and amazing relationship!
I love the part when Saul Goodman convinced Erik to come with him. Bob Odenkirk deserved an award for his performance in this movie.

I never liked how Magneto was able to rewire the sentinels . There is more to reprogram a robot than just making wire and sticking it into their brains
He bypassed their micro controllers and just used electromagnetism to get them to shoot.
I think he is just psychically controlling them
He didn't rewire them, they are still programmed to target mutants but magneto is physically preventing them.
All he did was input metallic wires to control them physically, but they still targeted mutants.
It weirded me out as well but the more I think about it, the more I wonder if it's actually conceivable. Computers aren't magical boxers, they are billions of transistors reading 1's and 0's. And since these are 70's computers, they are much more simple. I have no idea how Trask built these things running on hardware that would make an apple II blush. IDK. Plus he might just be literally controlling them by force anyways, though that is alot of multi-tasking.
To think that raven would go from being a character that takes punches and kicks to now making the right choice speaks volumes!!
What would have happened if Mystique ignored Charles Xavier and just shot Trask without a word? How would things have gone differently and would the Deadpool movie still happen or not?
Would’ve caused the government to build the robots to destroy mutants in future. Deadpool probably still would’ve happened before that I think

@Jac2Mac if mystique still kills trask Deadpool 1 still happens because wolverine and sabertooth did not join Team X(Stryker's Black Ops team in X:Men origins wolverine, which Deadpool is in as well which is also set in 1973 BUT in original timeline) instead he tries to prevent the future from happening, so wade wilson AKA Deadpool doesn't join Team X it Never gets formed so clearly Deadpool 1 still happens if mystique still kills trask, by the way read in X-Men movies Wikipedia helps you understand the timeline..

Brilliant film. I only wish Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix could have lived up to same pedigree rather than falling :-/ (although Apocalypse ok for me). This was last true great X Men film in this franchise (not including Deadpool or Seperate Logan films)

They never did a good job at explaining Charles’s abilities and limits lol. That’s the problem when you create nearly omnipotent superheroes like him or Superman - there’s no obstacles. Then, to make some, you have to create something so random like Erik’s helmet or Kryptonite.

@@denylamber7462 I mean, if you look at some of the stuff Charles has done over the years, a lot of those can be seen as pretty damn evil. He does what he believes is best, but just like anyone else, Charles is human and makes mistakes or makes incorrect judgments. He can use his power to do a lot of things, both good and bad and he has frequently exerted his power to alter the memories and suppress personality traits of others without their consent and always uses the excuse of 'it was for the greater good until I could find a better solution', but he's still fucking with people's heads without their approval or, in many cases, anyone else even knowing about it for many, many years.
He's meant to be a good guy, but with his kind of power and no one to keep it in check, he often makes decisions by himself without the consultation of others which can result in things that are morally very questionable, if not outright evil.
@@Xylarxcode simply erase mutant memory will not work, Trask can gain it back in a short-time. So i think he has to make Trask vegetable life or worst. That's terrible than death, so it would be a new level of evil, even with Charles's standard.

I still feel like this movie should have been the actual conclusion to Mystique's story. They kinda destroyed her reputation the last two movies, and JLaw phoned it in.

I think if Raven had killed Trask, it would have started the war against mutants, replacing the Cold War, in 1973. Therefore, there would be no Xavier School and Charles and Beast would have had to join the Mutant Brotherhood and Apocalypse to survive. Wolverine would be Weapon-X and Laura would be evil, if she existed. USSR would attack Chernobyl, for accelerating mutation in babies like Colossus (killing everyone in their city, in this case). USA would interpret this as an act of truce, even a temporary one. There would be a genocide of mutants, like the holocaust for the Jews. There would be as few left as in Logan. And many humans would also die. Innocents, like in The Gifted, but worse. There, there was a killer in a peaceful activist group. Here, many mutants would kill humans as an act of war. Even the most innocent of us would die. Terrorism would be common. If Apocalypse took over the world, the human race would be nearly extinct. If Charles, Beast and... let's say Jean, Scott and Bobby stopped Apocalypse, the new timeline would look like the comics. In constant war, the Sentinels would not have so much time to be developed and maybe they would be those giant thrombus from the comics. They would have replaced one Future Past with another.

Such symbolism here, despite what people say and feel about Stan Lee he was able to capture the essence of reality with his fictional universe. Another good creator is George RR Martin. Its easy for the strong to justify their actions over the weak simply because they can and condemn those who are perceived weak wrong or wicked when they strike back. As humanity consciousness evolves, so does its soul. Only when the strong truly accept what they are and their effect on those around them, then we as a people can be delivered to the promise land.

That's not the issue. They went into storylines that weren't necessary. This should have been the end of prologues. Go on to Deadpool, Logan and the gambit movie fox said they were gonna do.
