Out of all the X-Men antagonists, the Sentinels frighten me the most. Completely unfeeling, unflinching and unstoppable. Single-minded in their goal, dogged in their pursuit, and able to counter almost any mutant power. A true horror

Ian McKellen and Sir Patrick Stewart were truly gifts. A lot of older, classically trained Hollywood talents consider superhero fare to be beneath them. But both Ian and Patrick put their all into their performances as Magneto and Prof X and their presences lent something unique to the X-Men movies. It might be a while before we see it again.

The thing i liked the most from this movie was the design of the Scaly Sentinels. Like, ive seen the comic versions look and, honestly, couldn't visually get intimidated by them.
This movie's version definitely exudes an aura of absolute menace as it constantly adapts and gives that killer robot glare before killing every mutant it finds

I love the future sentinels in this movie. They are amazing because they are just this unstoppable force. After seeing superheroes win, win, win... It's terrifying to see them tossed aside as nothing effortlessly.

i agree, it's amazing how powerful the sentinels are, they can change thier hands/arms to pike to impale someone, they can (i think) copy powers of mutants like when one sentinel did with colossus, and seem to have a bit of a fighting style i think besides from stab or punch, like how one sentinel backfliped to make one guy fly away, and would love to see them again and see what else they can do and how they adapt when something happens
if you want to see a bad ending or something like that then don't watch superheroes movie, go watch horror movie instead

The most beautiful yet tragic moment is when Rogue arrives and not only does she take kittys powers effortlessly but she absorbs her emotional pain of losing Bobby and let's her sleep. Its only a few seconds in the scene but speaks volumes

I absolutely love Anna Paquin as Rogue. I hate how they basically just wrote her character out of the series. Her being such a major character in the first one, to her 2 minutes of screen time in the 3rd movie. To her scenes being completely edited out of the theatrical cut of Days of Future Past. Just seems like a huge disservice to the character and to Anna Paquin.
The problem was J Lawrence… It’s not that She’s a bad actress, however her own fame size changed the whole X-men franchise direction.
The Hunger Games craze was everywhere. So they had to cash in from JLaw as much as they could.

@Ahmet The movie was a proper send-off to Wolverine. There were tons of great things too, like how Professor ax’s and Wolverine’s powers starting to slowly kill them and others, and Wolverine was gonna die at some point. And Wolverine fighting a younger clone-like version of himself was great. You’re just salty, and you probably like Dark Phoenix.
This 7 Minute Scene is already better than the whole dark phoenix movie.

While I think X-Men: Days of Future Past's theatrical cut is a great film, and a tightly done film, I definitely prefer The Rogue Cut. It's successful juggling of moving parts turns it into a more exciting, time travel epic, and it's use of Rogue and that whole side trip is very exciting for fans of the original trilogy. Also, it does feel more realistic to me that Rogue enters the picture to save the day considering the cuts Kitty endures from Wolverine. In addition to that, the reason Rogue is being kept alive is due to her value regarding aiding the Sentinels' abilities - Mystique allows them to copy the cell structure of other people, but it is Rogue that allows them to copy mutants' abilities. As well as just making more narratively satisfying sense, this adds cool and dynamic mythology to the film and ties Rogue into the story seamlessly too.
I wish The Rogue Cut is the cut in continuity, and I have a feeling fans will strongly agree. Perhaps, it was thought that the Rogue stuff would distract from the characters in the prequel series, but all that is still there, and it's not going anywhere.
*Altering The Rogue Cut*
In The Rogue Cut, it is not stated that Rogue DNA combined with Mystique DNA is the key to giving the advanced Sentinels, their abilities, or that the importance of Rogue's cells are the reason she's being held captive and kept alive. I think this should be stated.
Completely agree, and just to let you know ‘The Gifted’ was the prequel tv show to the days of future past story line. It explained how the people of the sentinel project where able to manage combine powers together, actually studying the Stepford Cuckoos and stricter siblings who can do this. Pretty interesting

The anger in Magnetos eyes as Bobby dies and then they turn towards him is incredible. It's amazing how he cleverly bursts a gas pipe knowing they'll ignite it. It's like all those years of saying humanity will turn on us is shown in one look!

Those sentinels are using Disintegrators. That’s not some heat weapon that was simply melting Bobby. The sentinels are not indestructible but they are fast and efficient in groups.

This movie, made me cry, the discrimination against not only mutants, but the humans who carried X gene, was absolutely chilling.
Imagine being Xavier in this moment. Your childhood home, you're school, your safe haven for your kind, being used by the enemy as a research base and then watching it explode. I can imagine him hiding all his anger in this moment because he needed to focus on Eric, Bobby and Rogue.

So in the original cut they never explained how the sentinels found them and planned a mass assault near the end. In the Rogue cut it is revealed that a Sentinel had physically put a tracking device on the ship. This was one of those plot holes that really confused me. After watching the rogue cut, there were many inconsistencies that finally made sense.
@Geboinzki 28 It's true, I really like the theatrical cut ever since I saw it in theaters back in 2014, but I prefer the Rogue Cut because it does feel like a more complete story.
@Andy Chia tbf, they didn't outright explain how the sentinels found them at the beginning either. I guess it's just implied that they have become very advanced at hunting them down.
@@xxxaragon Technically, it was only a few Sentinels that found them in the beginning of the movie, whereas near the climax it was hundreds, so the Rogue Cut does explain why since they were all there to answer a distress signal.

Rogue’s powers made more sense for the Sentinels than Mystique, they removed her from the movie only to make room for Jennifer Lawrence.
i think we dont have any power absorbing mutants in the old time, so they shifted to mystique coz prof.X said that mystique was the key in opening trask experiments for the mutants. but the rogue cut makes sense since sentinels copied the powers.
this all could have been avoided in theatrical version if someone mentioned that rogue died or might have been captured causing the sentinels to copy the powers.
@@murtazarizvi368 Honestly, I think it should have been a combination of the two (Both Mystique and Rogue) who were the secret to the power of the sentinels in this movie. Mystique's transformation abilities with Rogue's power gain ability could have resulted in them combining the two to create a brand new power that allowed the sentinels to change their powers at will.
That is so true. Rogues powers are LITERALLY to copy other mutant abilities. The exact same as the sentinels. I think they used mystique because Rogue would never assassinate Trask.

Going by comic book lore, the sentinel's technically didn't kill Bobby, he is an omega level mutant. He can regenerate from this. even if they reduced him to nothing, he had already phased into his ice form. Meaning he could still regenerate his physical form based off of his mutation and the moisture in the air. Had he not been in ice form then yeah he totally would be dead.

Movies nerf a lotta powers. Colossus fights like he weighs more instead of having super strength strength, wolverine has no martial arts experience, etc.
This cut makes SO MUCH MORE sense...it created a need for Rogue to show up (Logan severely injuring Kitty), then the use of great match-cuts (Magneto in the Xavier mansion and the Pentagon vault), and then Magneto, Xavier and Rogue escaping gives us a definitive and plausible reason on how the Sentinels found the X-Men hiding in the Chinese mountains. Also, Rogue being at the end didn't feel less important, it felt more important...but then too, Kitty should've been there in the end too...and Colossus.
All in all though, I do not understand why they didn't use this version first....probably because then people would've asked "why didn't they get Rogue sooner than when they NEEDED her the most? She is an X-Men after all..."
Yeah, this could be the darker story even more than it was. Another thing to mention though is how the younger Magneto looked to the coin. It gives more motivation to the character and more dramatic sense to the scene as it reminds him of the sufferings he was through.
What makes “hello logan” emotional is that logan and rogue treated each other like siblings 😭

I like that in both scenes Magneto respected Xavier’s request of no killing. He knocked the guards unconscious in the past and didn’t dissect the doctors in the future.
i like seeing Iceman and Rogue reunited
loved this version of rogue, she wasnt afraid of her powers like she was in past films and shedded the scared little girl that she was in xmen 1-3, this version was so confident with her powers in the little time she got in this cut of DoFP. the series may have been criticized and rightfully so, but the actress who played her did such a good job imo witb the script she was given & if it were up to me id bring her into the mcu to reprise the role no questions asked.
This would have been better because it would have made that scene with Wolverine in the mansion seeing rogue and Bobby back together more impactful
They only want mystique's ability for the Sentinels not Rogue's so they deleted all her scenes. To think mystique can only shapeshift but not copy other powers.

Yes, Rogues mutant power can help replicate the powers of other mutants, thats how the Sentinels adapted and are able to use the appropriate counter power against the mutant they are fighting, and with Mystiques power, Sentinels are able to transform into those different powers by transforming their body structure. Definitely, most definitely should have released this version on the films release.

Anna paquin was cool as rogue but like the fans she was pissed they never let her be comic book version she said in interviews she wanted to be able to fly or just have the strength even for a deleted scene . Instead she had pyro power or Iceman's frosty breath

I'm not sure if Rogue from the film had absorbed Carol Danvers. That's where her physical powers came from in the comics.
They could've gave Rogue her strength, invulnerability and flying powers and let her wail away on some Sentinels

Anna Pacquin was pregnant at that time and when they made the scenes from the rogue cut she just had a baby so its going to br difficult for hrr to do stunts.

From all MCU and DC, I never seen somethin truly terrifying like Sentinels from X-MEN. It was rare occasion when it comes about new movies that somethin can be truly terrifying. Im old school who loves terrifying scenes from ScFi like terminator 1 & 2 from future, alien etc..., Sentinels were the only one from newer movies who truly gave me... well... shivers. Not any Darkseid, Thanos, Galactus or whatever. So in that regard this movie was somethin truly special. Cheers....

The sentinels were horrifying. Like the Terminator, but strong enough to easily kill even mutants.
They remind me of the Sentinals in the Matrix Trilogy. The way they move so quick and are almost unstoppable.
They can also adapt to any mutant power, kind of how the Borg in Star Trek can adapt to phaser power so the weapons become useless

How does it not. Shadowcat is bleeding out rogue has a connection with literally the whole cast that's left. Rogue would be the only one able to take over as shadowcat is literally dying and also actual redemption for destroying one of the coolest characters in X-Men history this literally would have made more sense than what actually happened in the film . My opinion I'm also biased cuz I love rogue.

If you watch The Last Stand, you would realise that Both Rogue and MAGNETO were cured. However, Directors have confirmed that the cure didn’t last too long. So they could’ve brought back Rebecca’s Mystique but they didn’t.

@@aditisk99 The timelines are pretty confusing so I'll try to explain easily. Jean was dead before the Sentinel attack after the events of Last Stand. When Mystique altered the future by preventing the Sentinels from purging the mutants, Logan returned to his future timeline with no Sentinels being made to hunt mutants down. In the timeline we see Jean alive, much to his surprise. It can only be assumed at that point she was in control of the Phoenix. Like I mentioned, timelines are confusing.

There's a good reason they didn't go into detail over what they did to Rogue in that facility, and to Mystique. Sentinels are basically the X-Men version of the Destroyer from Thor 1, and he did enough alone.

This scene was deleted because they did not want Rogue to take away from the tension of Kitty bleeding out.
I agree, I loved this film. It was one of the top comic book movies for me, easily better than 90% of the garbage the MCU is putting out. To bad FOX was so inconsistent, they put out crap like X3, Wolverine and Dark Phoenix and also put out gems like DOFP, first class and Logan.

Jordan Bryant It makes sense. Well, for a villain, which by definition you know isn’t suppose to be truely correct. He wants to create a better universe, which he sees mass genocide as an option due to his upbringing and warlord status. Obviously his idea isn’t correct because those left cannot accept their loss as shown in Endgame, so by him being a warlord, wants to destroy the entire universe and create a new one, where no one will hang back on loss. Considering how his goal is logical wrong, but Infinity war is crafted so the audience can show sympathy to a fucking mass murder is pretty good writing and directing.

The Rogue cut added nothing and only made an already long movie even longer. Rogue's rescue added nothing from a storytelling perspective that wasn't already in the theatrical cut.

@@mickael402 I think there's a science to this, i'm not sure how to really explain it but super cold has some certain ability to heal someone with illness. This was also explained in The Flash series, just dont remember which episode or season it was.

Just got me thinking... The moment Xavier realized the Sentinels were coming, Magneto could have used that little platform as a vehicle to haul ass out of there instead of dragging rogue! Heck, when Iceman was putting up walls, Magneto also could have lifted a grate underneath Iceman while hes working walls to lift him to safety!
These Sentinels are what Ultron should’ve been (with some more talking, hatred and megalomania).
