Samsonov opened right up on that one, it was weird. Brodie made a poor play late in the second challenging the puck and he got an unfavourable bounce with all his momentum going forward. Marchand and Pasta made no mistake. Matthews looked to be labouring getting back, he wasn’t striding well at all on the play. After Marner scored the Leafs had some good shifts and chances, with an uptick in speed but then there was a tv timeout and it seemed to suck the life out of that burst as well. The Leafs hit the crossbar at one point too, could have been a difference maker. Swayman has been sharp, and Marchand has been a difference maker. He’s been in on all the big goals in the last two games. It would be interesting to see the Leafs get a lead, Boston with a lead has been jamming up the middle of the ice, making quality chances hard to come by. When there is one, Swayman has been there. Hard to say how Marner Matthews and Nylander are feeling, tough time of year to not be 100%
Montreal in 1 season in 2021 has the Maple leafs only equalling it in 16 years if they make it to the playoffs during the Austin Matthews era . Montreal won 3 rounds in 2021 . Toronto in the past 8 years granted have had enormous winning percentage during the regular season , have only won one round in that time frame . It wont be till the 2031 season that they win their 2nd at this pace . Now i know it wont get there ..... or could it be worse ?

Sorry, this game was full of mistakes and lacked intensity. If the Leaf's organization cannot see this, time for big time change. Time for a big change anyway really. Fire Shanahan first. That will send the message. Then fire Keefe. So it hits home with the players. Then fire Brad, he did a decent job, but he is collateral damage needed to send the message there is a wholesale change coming. Then you get rid of Marner to shake the players up. Then you hire Quenneville as coach and Keenan as assistant. Then you go from there.

Can't expect this little argument to lead to anything of significance. To be concerned about a bit of yelling is a waste of energy. The difference here is that it was on the bench and public, instead of in the locker room. This stuff happens often and is not a contributing factor to their current situation. The leafs are soft, they have no D, they have inconsistent goaltending, poor management which includes a President who was not qualified when hired and demonstrated that he is not competent enough to run this team, despite his personal stanley cup success (these are often not correlated) . He also is also responsible for hiring a dinosaur GM that doesn't exactly have a stellar track record - one of the worst trades in recent history (Tkachuk for Huberdeau) and hasn't exactly been successful in his career. Domi, Bertuzzi, waste of money on Klingberg and Reaves. Are they any better than last year? Their best player is talented and can score goals in bunches but is selfish and cannot get more than 40 assists over 82 games. He does not make his teammates better and his success is due to being a ridiculously talented goal scorer and because his teammates worked very hard to set him up - perhaps to the detriment of preparing for the playoffs, who knows. The power play has been lousy since March. Bottom line this team and its leadership are a mess. To expect them to beat any playoff team other than possibly Washington or the Isles is delusional. You would think that bringing in a CEO who will liaise with the board and likely be the alternate governor is a precursor to the worst president in the NHL being fired. We can only hope.

Can't expect this little argument to lead to anything of significance. To be concerned about a bit of yelling is a waste of energy. The difference here is that it was on the bench and public, instead of in the locker room. This stuff happens often and is not a contributing factor to their current situation. The leafs are soft, they have no D, they have inconsistent goaltending, poor management which includes a President who was not qualified when hired and demonstrated that he is not competent enough to run this team, despite his personal stanley cup success (these are often not correlated) . He also is also responsible for hiring a dinosaur GM that doesn't exactly have a stellar track record - one of the worst trades in recent history (Tkachuk for Huberdeau) and hasn't exactly been successful in his career. Domi, Bertuzzi, waste of money on Klingberg and Reaves. Are they any better than last year? Their best player is talented and can score goals in bunches but is selfish and cannot get more than 40 assists over 82 games. He does not make his teammates better and his success is due to being a ridiculously talented goal scorer and because his teammates worked very hard to set him up - perhaps to the detriment of preparing for the playoffs, who knows. The power play has been lousy since March. Bottom line this team and its leadership are a mess. To expect them to beat any playoff team other than possibly Washington or the Isles is delusional. You would think that bringing in a CEO who will liaise with the board and likely be the alternate governor is a precursor to the worst president in the NHL being fired. We can only hope.
