  • In this video I will show you how to get free streaming for your radio station, how to get it up and running with software that is also completely free. I will also show you how to get around some tricky problems that can stop your streaming from working. These problems can be very frustrating and can cause you to give up all together. So let me walk you through step by step to get your streaming station up and running. This way of setting up your streaming is actually very easy even for a complete beginner if you follow what I show step by step. You don’t need any prior knowledge or experience with streaming.

    (High quality paid streaming services with no adds and all the extras you could need to run a professional radio station
    Let's start by getting the software. For this type of streaming, you will need a program called Winamp. A link is in the description to download it. Winamp like many pieces of free software does have some missing parts. These include Lame MP3 plugin and shoutcast or Icecast streaming plug-in. There are links in the description to download these too. So download these first. Then extract the files and put these lame mp3 extracted files into the winamp files in the shared folder of your winamp installation. An important note here. Even if your PC is 64-bit you should use the 32-bit version because the 64-bit version can cause problems. This is one place it can all go wrong. Most people have 64-bit computers now but the Lame MP3 encoder often goes wonky in 64-bit. The great news is that the 32 bit version works great in Winamp even if your pc is 64-bit. So if you find the 64-bit just does not work and you keep seeing this message then use the 32-bit version. If your pc is 32-bit then you shouldn’t run into this problem. Coming up I will show you how to use just Winamp for your whole radio station. Hopefully, this plugin step will have saved you hours of frustration. If you follow many videos on CZcams that show how to install the plugins many of these CZcams videos don’t show that the 64-bit Lame version sometimes just does not work even if you do everything right. This can cause you to give up altogether when it is just a simple fix of using the 32-bit. To install the Shoutcast streaming plugin simply run the installation program you downloaded and make sure it installs into the Winamp folder. Coming up I will show you how to run a separate music player on your PC so you don’t have to use Winamp as your player but just using winamp as your streamer.
    Once you have these set up you will need a virtual cable if you intend to run the music from the same computer you are streaming from with a separate music player. There is a link in the description for a free download of that too. If you have an external pc you run your music from or have a studio that you can send the audio from then you just need to plug the audio from that studio into the streaming pc thought your audio car line input. The down side of this is that no meta data about the songs will go with the stream. If you stream for example from Radio DJ software you can send all the song info with the stream. The same applies with Winamp.If you play your music from Winamp the meta data goes with it too. The downside of using Winamp as your music player is that you will not be able to use the mic talk button to speak but can only play pre-recorded links and music from the Winamp player. If you are running a separate computer you will have to send the meta data from that pc to your streaming service or just not send it at all.
    Coming up I will show you how to get free streaming that plugs right into your winamp software.
    If you want to talk on air using another piece of audio software like radio DJ as your music player , you can use the Winamp talk button or another free piece of software called meter banana. I will do an entire set up of this in another video so be sure to subscribe for that. To keep things simple though you can use Winamp as your streamer, and your way of speaking on your radio station with another media player for your music. Simply put your song list into the other media player like Radio DJ and then when you want to speak, use this talk button. You will need to click lock to keep it pressed down while you speak. If you have an external tricker you can use just the talk button then once the trigger is released it will release the button.

    You can't load 64-bit DLLs into a 32-bit host at all without a bridge. If the bitrate is below 160 kbit/s, AAC should always be used. They have removed the good quality licensed Fraunhofer AAC encoder from the current Radionomy version of Winamp, but it's available in the old one. The older Coding Technologies plugin works well too.
    "VB" software says his stuff is donation-ware or some such. You're offered to pay as much as you choose. One of their products called Spectralissime eventually "expires". A good sound card might have a mixer that can send multiple ASIO sources into recording.

    • @inspiresoundpro
      @inspiresoundpro  Před 7 měsíci

      Yes donation-ware means you donate if you want to but otherwise it's free. The 32bit AAC works perfectly in the 64bit app. I have done it many times. Thanks.

      Hi.Thanks for your comment. I have a half completed video about radio DJ and streaming so I am working on it unfortunately I have to finish a video about building an FM antenna first that people have been begging me to finish. I'm hoping to have that done on the weekend then I will go back to Radio DJ video so it is in the process but will probably only be finished around end of next week if you can hold out for that. For now though if you have Radio DJ working and winamp working you can connect them together with the virtual cable in the video description. Are you able to stream with Winamp at the moment?

    • @inspiresoundpro
      @inspiresoundpro  Před 3 měsíci +1

      If you mean you want to play the music from Spotify on your streaming station then absolutely not. You wil potentially be breaching both the user agreement of Spotify and possibly running into some serious copyright problems. This is not legal advice. I do not give legal advice but seriously don't do it. Get proper legal advice on this. Read the user agreement from Spotify and speak to a lawyer about copyright law. You could potentially be heading for some serious trouble. As I said this is not legal advice.

    Can you use this with Station Playlist system?

    • @inspiresoundpro
      @inspiresoundpro  Před měsícem

      Hi. Yes Station Playlist can work with this. I have used station playlists on a few of my radio stations and its great. RadioDJ is a great free alternative to Station Playlist but doesn't have all the features of Station Playlist. Basically any audio software that can give sound and any automation software can plug into this way of streaming. I know Station Playlist also has its own streaming plugin but to be honest I have only used Station Playlist in this way where I ran the audio out from the studio mixer into another PC which would run the audio streaming through WinAmp. I have another audio streaming video coming out soon that will not only give you the streaming that you can use on free platforms but will also show your listenership numbers. Most of the free streaming services ask at least for a small fee to see how many people are listening but this other way of streaming is rock solid and displays your listenership live as its happening at no cost. But to answer your question yes it works great with Station Playlist.

    • @inspiresoundpro
      @inspiresoundpro  Před 7 měsíci

      Yes you do need to have your computer switched on and connected to the web but there are some paid for services that let you upload your songs and voice links to run while you are offline. They cost a bit though and some are limited in the amount of songs you can have. They are normally just for where you lose connection but there may be some that let you run for longer with more songs.

      @@inspiresoundpro And do this work with FM supported devices or i always need to enter my website to listen to the stream?

    • @inspiresoundpro
      @inspiresoundpro  Před 7 měsíci +1

      This is only for online streaming. To listen you will need to open the online stream. You can also use the stream to run your FM transmitter. You can use a streaming device like a laptop or a even a cellphone that can connect to the internet. The device can receive the audio stream and then send that audio into your FM transmitter which can be on a high site. This is quite common these days. It is often easier and cheaper than running a radio link from your studio to your transmitter tower. A radio link is often more reliable because you don't need to depend on the internet but running your audio stream to your transmitter means that you don't need line-of-sight between your studio and your transmitter high-site. The audio stream though does not connect to FM unless you connect it to an FM transmitter.

    • @inspiresoundpro
      @inspiresoundpro  Před 7 měsíci

      For some of the services they do want you to be in USA or UK but in many cases you can use a USA address then it will let you connect. It might help to use a VPN but It can also be that you are using an unstable internet. If you use cell phone or 5G it can disconnect. Its best to use fibre line.
