Movie Summary:

Both species descend from Alexander Corvinus who was born with a mutation that granted him immortality, he then had children. One was Marcus who had the gene (but was bit by a rabid bat, causing his mutation to change) and the other was William (bit by a wolf, his mutation also changed). Marcus was the first vampire and William was the first werewolf. There was another son of Alexander who had the gene but it was dormant, this lineage leads to Michael Corvin who is the direct descendant of this bloodline. His genetic lineage allows him to carry both traits. Marcus looks different to the other vampires because he has the corvinus gene and a werewolf bled into his tomb which is what woke him. So the werewolf blood caused him to become slightly more hybridised, that's why his appearance is more monstrous

True and Marcus stabbing wouldn't of killed him he died due to the bombs he already planted in his ship when the day came that Marcus and William got too powerful
The reason why Marcus looks like that is that he became a hybrid when the blood from the Lycan scientist Viktor killed got into his coffin and he drank it as shown in the first movie.
Because Marcus was a vampire first, his hybrid form is bat-like, unlike Michael's which is more Lycan looking because he was a Lycan first.
Since Marcus is an elder, in fact the FIRST vampire, not Victor, when the guy was killed in the first one, his blood awakened Marcus, but he was a lycan. That means, Marcus is a hybrid, and when he turns, again being the first vampire, he turns into a bat….. Victor even said it, one bit by bat, one by wolf; Marcus was bit by a bat, William by wolf, the first vampire and werewolf……. That’s why Marcus looks the way he does: he is basically Dracula 😂😂

@@Gambit20 He absolutely can, considering he has the corvinus mutation in his genetics, and then drank the blood from the Lycan scientist, he was exposed to the lycan variant of his own genetics and assimilated it into his own. Otherwise Marcus wouldn't be in this movie, he'd be dead, because the variations of the virus would destroy his body

Victor and the other vamps are more watered down so they don’t have wings just like Lucian has the ability to become human unlike William
Giving Marcus Lycan blood now would not meld to turn him into a hybrid the doctor lycan even said they needed the original Corvinus strain
The only thing the lycan blood did to him was give him the lycan’s memories
@@jonreese7066 Marcus is stated as being a Vampire-Dominant hybrid in the wiki, though they do speculate that due to his status, other Vampire-Dominant hybrids might not have all the qualities he does.
Why does the Lycan blood hybridise Marcus? I don't know, my explanation in my previous comment is my guess, they don't state why it makes him a hybrid in story, only that in the plot of underworld it states that as the Lycan blood drips into his mouth, Marcus awakens with hybrid eyes.
As for his form being just because he's a pure vamp, unless he'd been hiding a true form from ALL of the other Vampires, I don't think he had it previously, the other vampires such as Craven and the vampire in the isolated castle wouldn't have been so surprised about the wings.
My fave is Rise of the Lycans. Michael Sheen killed that performance. I adore him. 😍 That’s where my love for these movies stop though. They just get worse and worse from this point on. + With Scott Speedman not wanting to come back but them still attempting to make him part of the movies, smh. There was a time to stop, and they passed it.

Marcus looks the way he does because he is a hybrid and a descendant of Alexander Corvinus and he was already a vampire so the blood from the slain Lycan scientist turned him into a hybrid. For Michael, he was bitten first by a lycan and then turned into a hybrid, hence he looks more local like. Hope this helps
You got to remember that Michael was a doctor and seeing Celine her automatically brought his medical training upfront.
Marcus is the original Dracula of this Clan. He turned Victor first. First movie Victor knocked out the Lycan above Marcus tomb and his blood poured into Marcus chamber, now Marcus is a hybrid and a Elder on top of that so strong as hell.
evolution is probably my favorite of the the whole franchise, this is the one i rewatch the most too !!!
few things:
-Elders when they suck a persons blood they can filter their memories of those they consumed so they can pull up passcodes, how things work etc.
-He looks like that because he consumed the blood of a lycan seeing how he was the first bitten by a bat he in turned looked like that as a hyvrid
-yes Selene tanked that shotgun to the stomach.
-a hybrid heals insanely fast like in seconds as long as they've consumed blood in a timeframe
-alexander is the first immortal ever, William is the first werewolf/lycan and marcus is the first vampire. immortal for alexander is just he lives for ever but he can die.
-Selene def could have took all those lycans on but plot lol Michael had to have his badass moment
Marcus is definitely terrifying to even me as an adult. He kinda reminds me of the demon from that movie Pumpkinhead.
I actually liked this one more than the first one which is rare in movies. Not a fan of the forth and the fifth ones that much but any way. Marcus scared me too when I first saw this movie and the mystery behind how Selene connects to it all was interesting to me as well.
I wish they would quit fucking around and dive deeper into the lore, I'd watch a couple movies based on Amelia and Viktor.

The funny thing about this is that if Markus was just a little diplomatic then he may have won at the beginning. If he'd shown up and said to Selene at their first meeting, "I want a taste of your blood to bring me up to date on current events and I want that necklace. In return, I walk away and there is no quarrel between us." Selene and Michael may have taken the deal and next thing everyone knows, William is free and feral lycans are all the rage.
This could be wrong but I think the reason Marcus looks so different to other vampires is that he was actually bitten by a rabid bat. Marcus had the immortal gene from his father Alexander Corvinus and was bitten by a bat and became the first vampire, therefore he sort of resembles a bat. I think Marcus also looks so different because he is a hybrid just like Micheal looks different from other vampires and lycans because he is a hybrid. I’m not sure how accurate all of that is since it’s been a while since I’ve watched the whole franchise in a while but I hope that explains why Marcus looks different from other vampires.
Agree; I think the reason he looks different and can even be a hybrid is because he was one of the original bloodline to change first to vampire then hybrid with werewolf
From what i've seen, yes, Michael and Marcus look vastly different because one is a Lycan dominant hybrid (bit by a Lycan first) and one is a Vampire dominant hybrid (literally the first Vampire)
In regards to this flick, it’s definitely the best one in the franchise. Best action by far. That sex scene still hella weird tho lol

Evolution and Awakening are the two I watched most. I just love the beginning sequence in Awakening as we see Selene going to town. Completely unstoppable. Going through human attackers like they were tissue paper.
We get a true sense of just how powerful she really is because we're used to seeing her fight opponents of roughly equal strength. Love it! -OG
Honestly awakening wasn’t that bad and blood wars did have some good moments as well but I actually liked awakening especially with eve.

I love the whole franchise, one thing I couldn't understand is since Michael is a hybrid he should be able to eat solid food. Vampires are on a liquid diet but werewolves/Lyons can eat meat. So Michael should have been able to eat the food without any issues.
So unfair to Michael Corbin 😩 The man was a doctor and was turned to both a vampire and a lykan against his will because of his bloodline. Wait until y’all see “Rise of the Lycans” if you haven’t already or the one after this.
My favorite parts of these are selenes emotions towards Micheal, in this one the acting when she couldn’t bring him back to life was excellent. Made you really sad he was really dead.

7:26 • remember in the 1st film when Selene wakens Viktor & he says her memories are chaotic? Vampire Elders the skill of organizing they’re memories as a detail record of their reign. These “blood memories” are passed to the next elder by feeding them the current elder’s blood. Selene didn’t have the skill to organize her thoughts which is why Viktor was still confuse when he woke up.
10:02 • Marcus “knows things” from the blood memories of Kraven & the Lycan that Viktor killed, who’s blood woke Marcus.
8:49 • in this universe there are clearly two kinds of hybrids between the vampire & Lycan species. As a direct descendant of Corvinus they have the gene to have one of the species or be hybridized.
Marcus, the son of Corvinus was made Vampire. If he drinks werewolf blood or is bitten by a werewolf, he will turn into a Vampire-Lycan Hybrid bc he was a Vampire 1st. What animal bit Marcus turning him into a Vampire? A bat, hence the wings, the bat face/head features, & the sleeping upside down.
Michael Corvin, a direct descendant of Corvinus (greeeeeaaaat grandson) was bitten by Lycan, then later by a Vampire making him a Lycan-Vampire Hybrid.
Technically, if Marcus was to bite William or give William Vampire blood, William should turn into a Werewolf-Vampire Hybrid.

When people say they like 1 and 2, I wonder if they are referring to Underworld Rise Of The Lycans and Underworld Evolution. Because Underworld Rise Of The Lycans is basically part 1 even though it came out after 2003 Underworld. Because if you put them in order, it's
1) Underworld Rise Of The Lycans.
2) Underworld.
3) Underworld Evolution.
4) Underworld Awakening.
5) Underworld Blood Wars.
My favourite is Rise of the Lycans, by far! ( Mostly because swords and stuff, but also: more Lycans!^^)

Marcus was the first vampire, Alexander was a pure immortal, neither vampire nor lycan. Marcus looks different because the lycan that died over his tomb in the first movie dripped his blood into it and his lycan blood mixed with Marcus who carries the hybrid bloodline so he became a hybrid. He has wings because he was the first and purest vampire like his brother who was the first and purest lycan which is why his bloodlust was insatiable and he could never become human again. When Selene bit Alexander she absorbed the powers in his blood making her stronger, faster, and immune to sunlight.
Underworld Evolution is my favorite of the bunch.
All vampires will see your past when they drink your blood. This one and Blood Wars are my favorites in the series.

This was a good sequel and I do enjoy it more than the later ones. Three is a prequel, and 4 and 5 were okay.

Marcus is a hybrid because of Alexander his father being immortal and being bitten by a rabid bat making him the first vampire. The same goes for his brother William as well only being bitten by a wolf never being able to transform back to his human form. Michael is a direct dependent of Alexander by way of his third child who remains unnamed.😊

I've seen them all and liked them more with each movie. I've watched them several times.
to answer the question as to why Marcus looks like a bat is sort of imposible to explain.
Marcus and Michael are both hybrids as they both have the Corvinus blood.
Michael is a lycan/vampire hybrid as he was first bitten by a lycan and then a vampire.
Marcus how ever is a vampire/lycan hybrid as he was a vampire first before getting the blood of the lycan scientist that was killed above where he hibernated.
its not known whether or not all vampire dominant hybrids would look similar to him as not only was he the first hybrid of this kind but also the first vampire. there are other hybrids we can look at throughout the seires but none shed much light as to why he looks so much like a bat. it can also be speculated that if William were to be given vampire blood he would also become a hybrid and possible even be able to turn back into his human form.
anyways thats the only answer i can give you i hope it helps slightly.

Other than Rise of the Lycans, I pretend the franchise ended here. They completely lost the plot when they couldnt get Scott Speedman back and had to write him out of the story. Now Kate is done and the whole thing feels unfinished if you watch the other two. It wraps up better pretending it ended here.

I like this one but not quite as much as the first. It just feels like it's missing something the first one had, and I can't quite place what it is. It's just not as epic as the first I guess, and the story didn't seem as rich.
