In heavy duty boots.
I was born the same year as Nils and grew up in the same small city in Northern Sweden. I've seen him drum for 25 years and he's been equally insane all the time. I saw him drum for Chastisement, Souldrainer, early Aeon and so on and he was always like a machine.
Lots of extreme metal drummers are fast and precise. What makes Dominator stand out is the power of his tom fills, even at high speed. Because he's hitting the toms so hard,. you hear each individual note even when they're coming really fast.
Yeah Nils' fills are something else. Its like he is hitting them with hammers not sticks
He actually switches to from fingers to full wrist-motion when he plays the toms. That's why his tom fills sound so awesome and powerful.
Arguably makes it more impressive that he manages to perfectly switch between techniques seamlessly@@zubiac

I was gonna say... Hes the single stroke king imo. No doubles anywhere. Wenja is the double king imo.
A bit late to the party. You can clearly see his knees go up and down all the time, which means he is using hip flexor muscles, and not calves like you would in heal-toe.

The velocity he hits with at such high bpm is just absolutely unreal
Thank you for following my recommendation. I saw dark funeral several times ... Nils is one of the most creative drummers in the black metal genre. Amazing drummer!

I saw this band live last year. They bring it so hard! Swedish Black Metal just really does it for me. They're a crazy band, I bought their hoodie immediately after the gig.
Never even heard of this band, but my goodness this guy is amazingly quick! 🤯
I've seen them live a couple of times. 🤘🏼 Trust me... the whole set goes like that. 😅

Great band! Saw them in 2004 here in Ukraine, great concert! Nils is one of my favorite drummers in heavy music, but he joined the band 2 years after I saw them live! In 1998 they had a tour with Cannibal Corpse, wish I was there)))
They just toured with them last year maybe.?? or roughly a year ago?
I never got to see them with their original vocalist, but I’m just really glad I got to see them after so many years !!! they’ve been such an incredible bad for such a long time!! When Nils left I was blown away that they could find anyone that could play the songs that he composed for them! I’m a guitarist and when you look at his compositions, they are just really good!!!
Theyre pretty cool people. I got to meet them in 2019 before a show with their newest drummer. Nils is amazing and their newest drummer is just as amazing. They have a new video with their current drummer for Nail Them To The Cross. I dont know what my favorite song is, maybe When Im Gone since its in contrast to their faster songs. Really enjoy all of them though.
People in metal are always so chill and down-to-earth.

From sweden, he has a brother that plays drums in another band, so i guess it's in the family. Loved this band when i was younger, still listen to them now and then, but drum cam nail them to the cross is by far my fav
Have seen them a couple of times. Last time couple of months ago in Antwerp. Always a great show. One of the best and purest black metal bands out there. Hail Satan!

Dominator is good, like, really good, but check out Hellhammer from Mayhem. I'm wasn't ready to see someone play four different rhythms, one with each limb, but well, he kinda does.

Pretty sick. I'm not a drummer, it seems like he only uses single stroke rolls so no really technical stuff, but still amazing what he does with it. I don't know how you'd play technical at that blazing speed anyway. Probably his feet are the most technical thing.

It seems like none of the comments understands that his career as a death metal drummer began with a small band called Aeon. I can recommend "Forever Nailed" by Aeon. Enjoy ;)

Please please PLEASE! do more reactions to the dominator! He doesn't get nearly enough love! He is kind of a freelancer as he belongs to several bands. He has some old drum cams out there, but about a year ago he made his own channel with a bit more pro setup. Please give those a reaction too!

I have to make a critique. You didn't give your audience much commentary besides "Wow, he's fast". Come on, dude. Maybe give some thought on his technique, his style, his drum setup etc. Did you notice that he uses his fingers during blast beats but switches to full wrist motion on tom rolls? He does this to get more power since the toms are quieter. He also plays double strokes when doing snare rolls.
Check out Jamie Saint Merat from the band Ulcerate. He's the best metal drummer of the last decade, IMO. The guy has all the qualities a metal drummer could want in spades. Precision, speed, endurance, power with lots of chops, dynamics and a signature distinct style that is very musical. czcams.com/video/Tg5w5j78iDQ/video.html
There's literally nothing more to say about his playing. He isn't doing anything that's hard to play or worth mentioning other than playing fast. Same thing with the Ulcerate drummer.
He's fast but in my opinion, it sounds a little sloppy but that's just my opinion
