So all of you bring up really good points. However, I do have some rebuttals to these. Not saying you guys are wrong, I just want to get a conversation started.
1) Rose's Sword can't shatter a gem, Bismuth said so.
Yes. Bismuth SAID so. But also remember this is Bismuth that we're talking about here. I should have mentioned this in the video, but Bismuth wanted the Homeworld gems dead. Who's to say she didn't lie to Rose about that? It's possible she could have lied, and that Pink Diamond being shattered was a complete accident; hence the very bad reactions that Garnet and Pearl have. They didn't mean to actually shatter her.
I was also using her sword as an example. I think it's entirely possible that we have another Breaking Point-esque weapon that hasn't been revealed yet. It's confirmed she was shattered with a sword, but we don't know if that sword is Rose Quartz's sword. The only way we'd know is if Eyeball saw Rose's Sword and confirmed it to be the weapon used. All we know from her is that it was a 'huge sword'.
I think if there was another weapon, it'll be in the chest in Lion's mane.
2) Yellow Diamond did it.
The main problem I have with this is that Pearl and Garnet have such negative reactions to the subject. If it were Yellow, I don't think they would have had any problems with telling Steven the truth. Why would they be hiding it and avoiding the subject if another Diamond shattered another Diamond?
I'm not ruling it out of course, it just seems like a MAJOR theory hole to me.
3) Pearl wasn't strong enough.
I don't even know what to say to this. Have you guys even SEEN Pearl fight? Like. She's very, very skilled. Where she doesn't have strength, she makes up in skill and intelligence. She's strong in the real way. Plus, if she was armed with the correct weapon and caught Pink Diamond off her guard; shattering her would have been easy.
4) Only Diamond's can shatter Diamond's.
While scientifically that is a fact, it is not a fact in this show (it is a fan theory). At least not yet. It's also possible that the weapon that shattered her was infused with some sort of diamond material. So I wouldn't rule the Crystal Gem's out of this just yet.
EDIT: I've been informed that only Diamond's can SCRATCH diamonds. Anything with enough pressure can break or shatter a diamond. Even so, that still debunks the theory that only a Diamond could have shattered Pink.
Regarding point 2, you know gems can shapeshift right? Maybe Yellow Diamond took the form of a Rose Quartz while shattering Pink Diamond

I don't think they can, no. However, Pearl's color pallet is very similar to Rose's. So I think it may have been possible for her to have pulled it off.

Yeah, there's a lot of other stuff as well. I've been theorizing that Pearl has done it for a while now, but I was always somewhat afraid to get the idea out there. Though this episode made me solidify this theory, and I thought now with more evidence I should go through with it.
But the further we go on in the show, the more and more it looks like Pearl did it.

In some episodes, Pearl does seem a little mysterious but they cover it up with the salt..

I think so, too. Which is why I included that clip. To me it just seemed extremely off putting that they focused so heavily on the pearl's. It wasn't even the dramatic music that made me wary, it was more so their expressions and the fact that they looked at each other.

You're also forgetting that Bismuth made the Breaking Point and wanted the Homeworld Gem's dead. Who's to say she didn't lie to Rose about it not harming the cut of the gem?
We also don't know for sure IF Pearl used Rose's Sword. It's possible that a different sword (one that we haven't seen) was used. We won't know unless Eyeball sees the sword and confirms it to be the one that she saw. This sword can be one in either the chest in Lion's mane, one in Rose's armory, or one in Pearl's room.
I also agree with Brandon that Yellow is acting strangely. I think she knows more than what she's letting on, but I'm not sure I'm sold on the whole 'Yellow Diamond shattered Pink Diamond' theory. It's possible, but I wouldn't understand why Garnet and Pearl don't want to talk about it if that's the case.
I get the feeling that Yellow pearl knows what happened to pearl because she looked to blue pearl like she will find out and blue pearl was just listening.

I have always felt that pearl may have belonged to white diamond. her gem placement is like you stated, spot on. she is also very white in hue. (her hair however is different in both color and shape)
still.. if pearl did take down a diamond, I wonder why she chose pink diamond of all others. if she was indeed white diamond's pearl, why not cut the head off the snake so to speak? the death of white diamond would cripple homeworld far more so than pink.
but it could be do to the fact that the Earth was in the process of becoming a gem colony under pink and not white. or perhaps because white diamond was and is intensely more powerful than pink was.
but if pink was shattered, what happened to all the witnesses? Pink's entire court and army seem to have just vanished since her death. I find that part troubling as well.

Zachary Flack, they could've possibly been integrated into the other diamond's armies, they could have all been shattered due to them now most likely being useless (i doubt this though), it could've all been covered up by the diamonds

and while white would also make sense as a culprit, she seems to be really the only one doing her duty in running homeworld. yellow and blue appear to have quite a lot of free time running all over the Galaxy. also, somewhere I heard that white didn't attend because and I quote "it would be a waste of her time". someone claimed Rebecca sugar had notes on this, but the evidence is unclear.
and about pink, like you said, at the very least her shards would have been noticed, accounted for, etc.. but other than her palanquin... nothing. no pink agates, sapphires, zircons, pearls, and other gems have come forth on the issue either. as I previously explained. I guess only time will tell.
but if yellow diamond does turn out to be guilty, you can bet that regardless of personal feelings towards pink diamond... blue and white would make her pay.
Zachary Flack I believe pearl can be white diamonds pearl. we have never seen a white gem. white diamond is the ruler bc all color comes from white light (prism). pearl is multi colored. I believe white domains all colors ie pearl.

I remember when Pearl hesitated on this one line "When I served...when I served homeworld..." it got me thinking she had to work for one of the Diamonds. I think it was in when she taught Connie how to fight with Rose's sword. Now a point about the sword , it can only poof the gems into gem form for bubbling and not shatter them. Rose Quartz is a healing gem. I definently think Pearl could be in on it.

Kurt Oco holly blue agate called the fully functioning Jaspers off colors because they were small, amethyst is off color, Steven is off color, an odd gem, like a pearl with the wrong gem placement and multicolored she would be odd to be both pink and white diamonds pearl making her defective, and even if she didn't belong to the diamonds I'm pretty sure even elite gems that owned pearls had pearls to match their color.
I think Pink and rose shared views on all living beings and had a lot of love for many.
Just found this channel. It's pretty cool checking out old theory videos now that the real answers are known, and seeing how much of the evidence was noticed and correctly interpreted, even if the conclusion is... well, it's not even really "incorrect," just incomplete compared to what we would eventually learn from the episode A Single Pale Rose. Really cool stuff, will watch more of this channel's backlog.
Yeah!! These are really good points, Lea. I'm glad to see you mentioned how Pearl refuses to shapeshift without giving proper explanation to it. It's made pretty clear that the shattering of Pink Diamond was a traumatic experience for her. Still curious about Pink Pearl though. We seriously need some flashbacks this season!

also remember that bismuth said roses sword was sharp enough to cut through s gems form but not sharp enough to damage their gem. Rose couldn't have since her sword was designed specifically to keep a gem in tact, but idk about the swords pearl was using.
diamonds are also brittle and can easily be shattered with something regular like a hammer
so rose sword couldn't CUT pink diamond but it certainly could SMASH pink diamond

That's just how natural real world diamond are. SU could ignore this but they do occasionally use science for gem attributes or story.
Like Garnet can survive lava and real life garnet has a high melting point
Peridot came from space is symbolized with aliens and crashed on earth and took her awhile to adjust. Real life peridot is typically found in meteorites and has trouble forming naturally on earth.
Though I could be wrong it's pretty easy to melt real world bismuth plenty of CZcams videos of people doing it on the stove or a hotplate but SU bismuth is lava proof

Pearl shape shifted into rose quartz to shatter pink diamond, which makes no sense considering pink diamond and rose quartz are the same person. So, how, did it happen? The only thing that makes sense is for steven to be brought somewhere while he was a newborn and they had to put pink diamonds gem back together and somehow give it to steven.
Pink Diamond wasn't shattered.

Points for her being White Diamonds Pearl:
Pearls gem is on her forhead, like WD and not on her belly like PD.
Pearls hair (and whole color palette in general) was white in the episode "The anwser", showing her in her earlier days.
Pearls skin color is clearly in no way pink thus wouldn't match PD unlike Yellow Pearl or Blue Pearl who have the same skin color as their Diamonds. Gems can't change their skin color, not even with shape shifting.
Points for her being Pink Diamonds Pearl:
A spacesuit has a pink diamond on it.
Clearly she must have been a Pink Pearl with all the white in her design.
Unless she was a gift to Pink from White.
Looking back on these theories is really interesting. The shape shifting point was proven to be spot on, and the rest of the theory was nearly correct.

I love it
I think pear is white diamonds servant. That pink diamond was showing a level of care and mercy to her first colony by trying to spare some of the lives with her "zoo" and this was viewed by white diamond as a flaw. To this end white diamond put a plain in motion to shatter pink so her flaws could not spread, and in her eyes weaken the race as a whole. White sent her pearl as a double agent to help rose in her rebellion so that rose could shatter pink. But when rose would not I think pearl was told to do it herself but to shift into rose so that all the blame would then be on the rebellion and not on white diamond. (Or maybe it was the plan for pearl to shift into rose the whole time to shatter pink) But pearl had gotten attached to rose and after pinning the shattering on her told rose everything. Rose then forgave her and took on the blame for pearl. That act sealed pearls love/loyalty to rose and she vowed to stay with her and not go home.
It is already evident buy what the home world gems say that a lot of the truth never gets told to them. They are only told what the diamonds want them to know. As white diamond seems to be the top leader she would be the one with the power to silence any info about her own peal going missing. Also I feel that not every gems knows whose pearl is whose, so it would be easy for white to just have another pearl made for herself to cover it up and no one would dare wonder what happened, or care for that matter, to her old pearl.

I'm flattered that you think I'm in the position where I could.
You bring up a lot of good points. I also think that Pearl was probably the one who shattered Pink Diamond. However, I don't think it was planned. Zircon said that PD's sapphires should have seen the attack coming (since they can see the future). However, we see that our Sapphire's prediction in "The Answer" was wrong because Ruby made an impulsive aka unplanned move that changed the future. The attack being an impulse rather than a thought out strategy from Rose and Pearl would make more sense so that the Sapphires had no time to warn Pink.
As for Pearl belonging to Pink, I think this is a coin flip. Pearl definitely worked for the Diamonds given how much she knows about them, their base and the colony structures. As you stated, her coloring and gem placement would suggest white diamond, but then there is that pink diamond space suit she has. It is possible that Pearl previously belonged to White and was given to Pink as a gift when she first emerged, or Pearl may be slightly off color (not just from her multiple colors, but also the shape of her gem, which is oval compared to the more circular gems that Yellow and Blue Pearls have.) If out Pearl is technically off color but still fully functional, perhaps Pink chose her for her uniqueness (it is implied throughout the series that Earth tends to affect gems born of or who live in the planet, and I think we're all in agreement that Pink Diamond was most likely born from the giant hole that used to be Russia) . We also see that most gems have trouble telling other gems apart from one another unless there is some obvious defect
(Like Amethyst). Yellow Diamond needed Peridot to specify her cut and facet. The Rubies couldn't even tell their own members from our Ruby infiltrating. All of Pink's Rose Quartzes were banned from being around her because 1 went rogue (they most likely wouldn't have been able to tell the rebel Rose from the loyal ones). So I don't think it is too much of a stretch to imagine that Pearl could have easily posed as Pink's loyal Pearl part of the time (and be present/ learn all about the colony structures while with Pink) and also sneak off to serve the rebellion without anyone figuring out they were the same Pearl. I feel Pearl was possibly an informant who relayed information regarding the Homeworld's moved (which would explain why Rose made Pearl who most trusted confidant) and how Rose gained such a reputation as a crafty tactician. It is possible that Pearl heard Pink discuss a plan to shatter Rose, and because Pearl tended to put protecting Rose above all else even over her own logic, she decided to attack Pink (whether she intended to shatter Pink or if it was an accident is up for debate). But if Pearl was a double agent, it would make sense that Pearl would have shapeshifted into Rose to a) protect her role as a spy b) let the remaining Diamonds believe Rose was too dangerous to try and threaten again. And Rose, being who she was probably decided that she would bear the blame to spare Pearl, possibly even swearing her to secrecy.
You may or may not have seen It, in one episode, Steven actually asks Pearl if maybe, she shattered pink diamond. She drops her phone on the floor and goes into a massive anxiety attack, I think that she actually did do it. I love your theory!

I agree with the idea that Pearl did it. I disagree with the scenario however: Rose was clearly against killing gems. You seem to completely forget Yellow Diamond reaction, especially to Steven's confession: she knows Rose didn't do it, she wants Earth erased and Blue Diamond to stop asking question.
If everything can be still traced back to Rose's rebellion....this makes no sense.
Let's analyze the show, you see how gems can get the appeal of the earth life ideology, if the rebellion went on, it could spread to the entire gem society.
Again going with the wanted episodes, gems believes earth is destroyed. This means the government lies to it's people to get what they want. However, there is still the whole reaction of the Crystal Gems to the incident.
Question arises: when pearl joined the rebellion? My hypothesis is that White Pearl, our pearl, was instructed with the assassination by shapeshifting into Rose at the right moment to make the rebel deranged assassins.
White creates the chance in someway and Pearl obeys loyally to the order, and there we have a Rose Quartz appearing in the middle of nowhere, killing Pink, and then White testimony saying that's what happened so any possible doubt dies there.
Then one thing is left to do: destroy pearl so she cannot tell the truth. She somehow escapes, betrayed by her own diamond, a scarring experience...and finds Rose.
with the blue zircon clips you made have an idea; what if blue zircon joined the crystal gems after being exiled from homeworld for defending rose quarz? just an interesting thing i thought of
Here's what I think happened when Pink Diamond got shattered. You are making fantastic points, but this is my personal theroy :)
Remember how during the trial that Yellow Diamond was getting extremely mad and suspicious? I feel like she knows something about Pink Diamond's death. That Blue Diamond unconsciously shattered Pink Diamond. Yellow Diamond wouldn't want to tell Blue Diamond that she murdered her comrade, because that would break her heart. Hence the rumor started up on how Rose Quartz shattered Pink Diamond. :)

I was excited at the prospect of it being a diamond, but now I'm hoping Rose's plan was just so cunning that no one saw it coming.
I really want to see a show where everything isn't so black and white.
Oh, Rose is good. Rose was framed. Rose would never take a life.
But it was a war. Rose had already been a war criminal for hundreds of years. That's a long time to be fighting and the thing with gems is that when they are poofed they just keep coming back. And you can bubble them and hide them away...but bringing your enemies into your base would be stupid. What if one gem managed to get out of their bubble and then unleased the rest?
And if you didn't bubble them they would just keep regenerating and coming after you. Sometimes in war you have to take a life. And when the person you're fighting has no qualms about shattering gems on your side but you're telling your side to leave the gem alone then a lot of gems like Bismuth and others would rebel against you to and see you as the enemy.
Unless you make a statement. Do something that makes people like Bismuth believe in you.
Shatter the diamond who is kidnapping the humans you're fighting to protect.
It would make the gems fighting you hesitant because you killed one of the four most powerful gems. It would boost moral because the gems fighting for you would believe they could win because their leader shattered a diamond. It would make gems like Jasper respect you, even if they hate you.
Rose did what she had to do. Sometimes you can't save everyone. Sometimes talking doesn't work. Sometimes you have to take the fight to them and leave them in pieces at your feet. For the Earth. For the rebels. For your cause.
*Lol, but it's mostly likely going to be Yellow or White diamond.*
But if it was Pearl that would be awesome! Especially since you have good reasons 😊

I love this theory! It makes so much sense! Your points are very valid and explain so much.
And there's a huge problem with the "Yellow Diamond did it" theory, at least in my opinion: Why would Yellow hate Earth so much as to act completely out of character when Peridot suggested leaving it alone? It' not like wiping out the planet would cover up what happened, those same questions would still have been asked! Her break down and sorrow during "What's the use of feeling blue?" seemed genuine. Yellow's behaviour during the trail can be attributed to her way of thinking "We have to move forward so that the pain will go away." Yellow sees this whole trial as a waste of time since everyone knows that Rose did it. I think she only agreed to it because Blue asked her to, and when Zircon started to poke holes in what Yellow considers to be the absolute truth, she went into furious denial, as people tend to do when their truths are questioned. That Zircon would blame the Diamonds was the last straw.
Or maybe Yellow KNOWS something about how it happened, but thinks that whatever it is would only hurt Blue more. There are many possible explanations to her behaviour. If they end up making Yellow guilty, I'm gonna be very dissapointed.
Then pink diamond swallowed fake shards when pearl proofed her, the shards reappear and pearl holds her gem

Firstly, how did pearl change her Colour when she shape shifted, contrary to any other we have seen thus far.
And secondly, wasn't our pearl also already a recognised threat at that point of time as seen when she attacked blue diamond?
I agree with your theory except for one small contradiction: Recall in the episode Bismuth, when Bismuth was explaining Rose's sword to Steven. She explained to him that she "designed the sword for a fair fight" and that it would "destroy the body, but never the gem". So I don't think it's possible for the sword to have been used to shatter Pink Diamond, because the sword is incapable of shattering gems.
Remember "why won't you let me do this for you, Rose?". Pearl wanted to make up for framing Rose.

Pink diamond and the other diamonds would have never trusted pearl and would have stayed alert and question any pearl that is near the diamonds. So pearl could not have been even close enough to shatter pink diamond.
it makes so much sense, also we have no idea how pearl was before she joined the rebellion, we already know much about garnet and amethyst, why wouldn't pearl's story be explained in the second/third season ?

I think that our pearl was pink diamond's pearl and was able to get close enough to shatter her, even though she doesn't have the same gem placement, take a look at the chest area on her space suit, and you'll see a pink diamond shape there!

It could be that Pearl was originally made for White Diamond but was seen as defective and given as a hand-me-down to Pink Diamond, seeing as she was most likely the newest Diamond and probably didn't have a Pearl of her own yet, hence her gem placement. That would also explains the pink diamond on her suit when she fights Peridot with the robots.
on the episode "The Trial" Blue diamond says "Pink was shattered by a sword, a pink one". Rose's sword can't shatter it can just destroy a gems physical form.

We have to remember here that diamond is also one of the hardest materials, that's why it's so valuable and that's why Yellow and Blue probably had trouble believing Pink could be shattered with something as simple as a sword.
Diamonds hardness only protects them from being scratched. they are also brittle and can easily be shattered with something regular like a hammer
so rose sword couldn't CUT pink diamond but it certainly could SMASH pink diamond

Well.. Rose's Sword is suppose to only deform and only "Poof" gems, like Bismuth said. And Pearls own sword also only deforms gems, but I know this is a theory and I like how you thought of this. :)
But My question is why wasn't white diamond at the trial? This was her sister too so why wouldn't she show up, unless she is involved. We know so little about the diamonds and the other gems, we have only seen a ew flash backs of selecting characters and my big question is how did the diamonds currupt the gems, maybe pink was against the idea and a diamond made it look like a rouge gem did it thus a war starts and sides are taken
I think the pearls would have known pink diamonds pearl, and their expressions might have been them realizing 'wait...where WAS she when pink was shattered?' the pearls don't ever seem to leave the diamonds sides. Maybe they just assumed she was also shattered but Zicron brings up a really good point about it being strange that no-one saw Rose coming, not even the sapphires. Like that's the thing that got me. Why didn't the sapphires see anything in their future vision? We see from the flashback in The Answer that future vision can be beat by making the most unlikely choice, which makes sense since Sapphire sees the highest probable outcome of events, not THE outcome. Which makes me think whatever happened was maybe done in the moment. I think Pearl having done it explains two very big questions. why did Pink step out of her palanquin? And why are there witnesses to the shattering, but not HOW Rose got so close?
But there's something else that doesn't make sense.
What was used to shatter pinks gem? Cus Roses sword wouldn't be able to.
Pearl shattering Pink Diamond would be such a lame twist. It's no different than Rose shattering her.

I think we saw Pearl shapeshifted in some episodes, like Hit the diamond, or the one when they played beach volley with the pizza family. You can see the differences with when she tried real clothes, in Last one out of Beach City. Her "fake clothes" are still in her color pattern. And also, in The Answer, Blue Diamond doesn't seem to be grieving for Pink Diamond death, and Pearl was already a well known rebel. "Her terrifying renegade Pearl". It is very unlikely that Pink Pearl wouldn't react to her terrifyng renegade fellow near her Diamond.
And Yellow Diamond clearly knows something she don't want to share with Blue Diamond. If she knows it's just an another rebel who did it, that wouldn't be a problem to tell Blue about it.
Imo, both Pearl and Yellow know something important about the shattering, but none is the real culprit.
hi! first of all i really liked the video!! nevertheless this theory has been on the internet for a while now (10-12 months at least), as well as some info to back up the theory (pearl uncomfortable with shape-shifting, position of the gem in pearls body etc) and i think that is really important to mention, so you dont get the credit for other peoples work.
i also wanted to add some stuff I have been thinking of. in my opinion, it is completly, absolutely impossible that it was roses sword. bismuth liying to rose that way seems impossible. given the sword had shattered pink diamond, rose would have bobbled bismuth way before she showed rose the breaking point. also, but less evident, bismuth emphyses on the fact that that sword was her "finest piece" because of the fact that it doesnt shatter gems. alternatively, rose could have gotten any other sword.
finally i wanted to remind everybody that amethyst broked her gem just hitting it with a rock, so unless diamonds are more difficult to shatter (which were not sure of) it would have been pretty easy for pearl to shatter PD.

Plot twist : Pink Diamond was never shattered. She was only puffed and bubbled just to be hidden someplace we still don't know yet.
Blue diamond said that pink diamond was shattered with a sword. Bismuth said Rose's sword was made to not shatter. Pearl is a sword master. It just adds up.

It could of been One of the Diamonds considering how Yellow Diamond freaked out at the end off the clip. But I most likely think it was one of the Pearls not just Pearl but maybe even Yellow Pearls or Blue Pearl, but most likely its Peal considering how she rejects shape shifting.

My biggest issue is that in the answer they already knew pearl and rose were dangerous. Garnet says its rose and her "renegade" pearl. And fears them on sight. So pearl would not be allowed near a diamond. She was a known criminal. Whoever shattered her had to have her trust.
anorher point that say that rose doesn't shatered pink diamond, is that bismut say that the sword of Rose destruct the form, but never the gem. so i think that pearl is ho broke the pink diamond's gem and Rose dont say it to anyone to protect pearl.

i like your theory, i think it was either Pearl or Yellow Diamond, after watching this episode i inmedeatly thought of these 2 gems as main suspects.
