When Jake comes into frame:
Ah sh*t, here we go again.
he's kinda grown on me jghlksjdfh
... It's time to skip or change videos
every time.
I say that but sometimes they're funny. Like this one where he reacts to it.
Man that daredevil series was an absolute art.
True

Actually it’s. are an actual art* (:
@@rodrigopena449 eh Disney might make it too light hearted
I love when Daredevil just throws a microwave at a mans head.
unxprienced wait now that I think of it,how did they do that effect? That was gnarly shit
@@Joe-ww8uw it was probably a makeshift “microwave”-like it just looks like a microwave but it’s really not
"A good warrior uses his surroundings as weapons." - Famous old Asian guy. ;)
@@jedironin380 Like what Poindexter does by throwing office supplies at Daredevil in S3
He’s like fuck that guy and keeps going
That is so cool hearing Eric speak so highly of Chris Brewster and Charlie Cox. Love DD, and so stoked to see more of these two bring Daredevil to visceral life again now that they’ve been brought back into the MCU
It's also incredibly impressive how both Charlie and both of his stunt doubles (if remember correctly Charlie mentioned another guy in a interview at one point), no matter if he is wearing a mask, or when you really can see it in the season 3 prison fight scene. Even though when he is wearing the maks and doesn't have to pretend that he can't see in his own way, the head movement of him listening to where something is coming from rather than looking straight at it is still there. It's one thing that Cox really makes you believe he can't actually see in dialog scenes, but you would think when it came to fighting they would just let that detail go. But the season 3 fight scene was the one that really made me go back and look at it with a fresh perspective and see those small details, because in the prison fight he doesn't have to pretend like he normally does, but he still can't see like a normal person so it's this added layer of difficulty of now not being able to cheat at all by looking at the incoming hits and kicks. I'm really excited that he's back, but I really hope they give him and the stunt people better time to rehears fight scenes compared to what Disney plus shows have currently been giving us. They have been fine, but nothing on the level of daredevil. It's also why they should have given Danny Rand the mask from the get go, since unlike Charlie he didn't get enough time to prep and even in season 2 it's just clear which is the better fighter. Which hurts the story because Danny is supposed to be in the top 3 fighters in the world even without the use of his fist.
• Kingsman church scene
• Inception rotating hallway
• True detective, that long shot from episode 4 or 5
Pretty sure they already did Kingsman in an earlier episode.
I thought your profile pic was a hair on my screen

Do the stunt on fire
Yesss on fire

Make it series too!
it should totally be it’s own series
Fun fact: The raid 2 final fight choreography already fully finished when they started filming the raid 1, yes, The raid 1.
Also fun fact, the studio didn't have the budget to finance his original movie, Raid 2 so the director worked on Raid 1. Once Raid 1 became profitable, that's when he was able to finally work on his dream movie
@Gerry Buckets The Raid was set in one location with less characters.
Fun fact: that's because Gareth Evans wrote Berandal (Raid 2) way before he wrote Raid 1
@@hrishikeshpurohit8676 For one whole second, my brain was like "Pfft, good one. That's impossible" 😅
The scene in The Raid 2 being filmed with a white background making it easier to make out what it happening and on top of that it also keeps the action in focus. Hollywood loves the shaky, chaotic camera movement during fight/action scenes, which makes it really hard to make out what is happening.
A humble request : The Dark Knight Rises - Opening sequence with Bane on the Airplane.
An incredibly difficult scene that I think you guys and Eric will have a lot of insights on.
Mike C yes

That's Brett's job. But yeah Clint's a close second
I love the clip from Daredevil. I would buy a beer to a person who got the idea that the first guy should be just knocked out by flying microwave
I feel like we don’t even need to tell them we wanna see Clint get launched, they’re probably gonna do it anyway
I know I want to see it.

Be firm fair and consistent and remember not everything is up for negotiation. "Because I said so!" said by mum or dad is perfectly fine
I love how Eric's experiences with other stuntmen always end with him being bruised or bashed and then he's like, "they're amazing." that's some solid occupational respect
“Each one of them’s like ‘im the guy’” 😂
I lost my shit at 7:19! Just the guy walking like 'la de dah gonna kill someone' and then MICROWAVE to the fucking face XD

This comment is referring to when you mentioned the "dropped frame" thing.
I animate and participate in Hyun's Dojo where we basically have a self-made character, and you "fight" someone else. We do this by having both animators animate a different fight with the same characters and have themselves win. The community then votes on whose animation is better, and that person wins the fight.
An animating technique that I (and many others) use is adding a second frame on contact points of punches, kicks, etc. If you have 2 animators with the exact same skill fight each other, the person who adds frames to hits will almost always win because it makes the hits feel a lot more meaningful.
I'm curious if there's fight scenes out there that you know of that do this is movies. The only issue with it that i can see is that a movie is much more complex than a stick animation, so adding frames might make it look a little strange, but I'm still curious if you know of any that have done this.
Thanks :D

Can I just go ahead and put a bid in for a reoccurring “Clint Does Stunts” segment?
I think this could be a beautiful series
Yes but if he does the air ram, he should really also be doing something he is already experienced with to be comfortable, I think Clint should air ram off a building on fire

I really believe that you videos are inspiring the next generation of stunt performers and visual effects artist. It’s so exciting to see the work that’s done behind the scenes. Great job guys!
The thing with air rams vs. wires is that with air rams, the stunt performer is flying purely according to gravity and their initial momentum. So it looks very realistic every time because it is - that's exactly how a body would behave assuming some explosion or superpowered jump or whatever got the initial momentum going. Wires can replicate that if done just right, but it's real easy to make the performance look floaty or otherwise fake because there's a rig pulling them in directions other than where they'd fly naturally, or the editor doesn't cut before the arrest starts and the stuntperson visibly slows or changes direction/orientation mid-flight. And even if the arc is good, a wire rig doesn't usually allow for realistic conservation of angular momentum; it tends to restrict or impose rotation based on how everything is rigged - which can't always be in such a way as to best sell the stunt.
“Clint tries” new series on this channel please

Nice vibe you guys have on set; you can tell there's genuine rapport
One of my favourite details of the Daredevil action scenes is how often you can notice that when a new person enters the scene Daredevil turns his ears towards them instead of his eyes. I noticed it in season one and its what really sold me on the show
Yeah that's one of things that really clinches Charlie Cox's performance. He's so good at portraying a blind man, that you could easily confuse him for one.

"We found out that most of you aren't subscribers"
I didn’t realize that I copied this
Read this as they said it
Iko Uwais and the villain actor/martial artist (dont know his name) rehearsed for 90 days apparently before shooting the kitchen scene. To this day it's still his most complex fight and he's done quite a few films now. The reason why the fight is so astounding is because 1. They are using a martial art that is not taught really anywhere other than Malaysia, called Penak Silat. Larger American bodytypes just don't fit the way Silat requires you to move, and 2. Both Iko and the other actor are masters at Penak Silat. He was discovered by Gareth Evans while he was filming a doc on the martial art, they made Merantau, and then The Raid.
So, ontop of watching a brutal, extended and extremely impressive fight scene, you are really watching two Martial Arts Masters duke out epic forms.
Pencak silat is Indonesian martial art, it's originated in west java Indonesia not Malaysia
No one's noticed that they labelled the "Mission Impossible Fallout", "Mission Impossible Rogue Nation". 4:17
MI-II is also mislabeled as MI-III right before that as well.
Ikr that kind of annoyed me
Did they mess up all three on purpose? Did we get got?

Instead it's Call of Duty: The Movie.
I think this is my fav sponser segment yet, bravo Jake, bravo.
Eric testing Charlie's skill on the rooftop sounds quite funny & surreal if you compare the "phenomenal fighter," which was Eric's opinion of Charlie, with the Charlie that has the personality of an Irish Setter in real life.

"This scene in particular, I think its pretty much perfect" Dude gets slammed into the wall by nothing in the background 7:24
Well a common practice for stuntmen is to keep moving as long as you're on screen or aren't on the ground. You'd rather him move out of nowhere (could be chocked up to him being pushed by the guy in front) than him just stand there like a mannequin.
I think he moved out of the way of his buddy back there shooting a pistol. It's a bit panicked but pretty much explains it.
@@nayab1841 that and i think he was supposed to move and react to the shotgun blast but did it early?
@@banjobill8420 Then he shouldn't have been on screen or he should have been on the ground, the dude doesnt need to be there and its a mistake in the shot. Someone should have figured out what to do with him, its some extra guy who has to slam himself to look interesting.
I think the idea was that he was getting hit by the head of the guy Daredevil hits, but he's one step too far and it doesn't connect.

Love how all the "Texas Switch" examples they used were from The Naked Gun.
That’s part of the joke of those movies. They make a lot of the stunt work super obvious on points purpose.
Best Texas Switches I've seen were in Who Am I (dutch kickboxer gets double by Jackie Chan stunt crew, but only for half of the take) and Anthony Hopkins in the climax of Mask of Zorro.
I want to see you guys react to more “bad” ones
John Wick 3 would be great for that. The fight scenes were so painfully (obviously) choreographed in comparison to the first 2 in the series, that at about the halfway mark, I quit watching.
Like a worst of the worst 😂
You've done The Raid 1 & 2. Have you done The Night Comes for Us? Same actors, but totally next level! Another great one to do would be the Thai movie called Born to Fight which has some of the most insane stunts I've seen.
My boy Jake being crazy about those brands kills me every time
Love to see y’all react to a montage of women characters fighting while wearing heels, both stiletto and wedge. And discussion about why filmmakers keep putting women in heels, and how fight choreographers/stunt coordinators/stunt doubles deal with them.
I was watching Into the Badlands recently, there's a character called the Widow who wears stilettos and does stunts, and I was thinking this, and basically, at least in that show, they kept cutting between her in heels and her with flat shoes for the stunt shots.
@@NinjaDimes That's both incredible and kind of depressing. When is any filmmaker going to shoot a high-production-value movie where the male characters are wearing heels while fighting and running, that's what I want to know. And I don't mean Tom Cruise-style platforms to increase their heights, I mean actual drag queen stilettos designed to maximize the male characters' sex appeal. Because as we all know, sex appeal is the most important thing - indeed often the only thing - to consider when choreographing action scenes. Obviously.
@@didderjade I get you're being facetious but, the reason would be heels don't add sex appeal to a man. the analogue would be something like fighting in a suit/tux ala James Bond.
Martin Sevcech I actually find a man in heels super sexy, and so do a lot of other women (and men). Because heels have the same effect on men that they have on women: they push out the ass and arch the back and show off your calves. In fact, high heels meant for fashion were first invented for and worn by men. Just ask Louis the Tenth.
Anyway, even setting that aside, I still have a point. Because fighting in a suit or tuxedo does not have nearly the same level of bodily constraint, discomfort, or debilitating effect. Suits do not twist the wearer’s spine out of alignment, shift their center of gravity or screw with their balance. So there really isn’t a true analogue for male action heroes.
It all boils down to, James Bond fighting in a tux is a power fantasy for men. Catwoman fighting in stiletto heels is a sex fantasy for men*. It’d be nice to get a change in that dynamic, is all I’m saying.
*including the character’s claim that heels give her any kind of advantage. She’s not a real person who can make real choices; she was designed by and largely written by men, they put the words in her mouth.
Martin Sevcech ur not a woman and or gay. Men in heels is sexy. Bond fighting in a tux is not sexy bc that is just the norm. Lots of dudes fight in suits. John wick fights in a suit.
