In this video we go over the process for assembling a custom 10/22 from a pile of parts. There are thousands of parts available for the 10/22 and the options are nearly endless for a custom build. Stay tuned as we will be performing some accuracy testing and pitting this rifle against Chad's custom 10/22 in the near future. Much more on the way.

I ran into a guy at the range one day who was shooting his custom 10/22. He told me all about it. He bought a stock 10/22. Then he took the barrel off and replaced it with a custom bull barrel. Then he replaced the stock with a fancy Hogue stock. After that he replaced the bolt. Then the trigger group and finally he replaced the receiver.
I looked at all that and said "Wow, so, somewhere in a box at your house you have a complete factory Ruger 10/22 in pieces that needs to be put together." He looked stunned for a moment as he thought about it and said "Yeah, I suppose I do."
Nowadays you can build a custom Glock, 10/22, AR10, AR15 and a few other firearms without using a single part manufactured by the original company. Pretty cool.
The design of that VQ bolt/spring assy makes a lot more sense than the OEM arrangement. I'm pretty much still bone stock base model still trying to sight my scope in. Haha
It’s crazy that the resetting of the trigger click is louder than the actual round being delivered down range
Great stuff !
Great content. Hard to believe that they let it fly.
wow your personal 10/22 is beautiful, nice job
Mike Glover is awesome. He is doing great stuff to help people be prepared for any and all disasters, natural or man-made. This is commonsense in a country where many people don't know anything about basic preparedness, first aid, self-defense, or homesteading. Great information... Thanks, Tucker.
10/22 is probably the coolest rifle ever
Great video sir!
10/22 ALL DAY!!👍✅
The "take down" bolt can put pressure on the barrel cause a preloaded spring effect in how the barrel vibrates. Maybe a rubber bushing is a good idea?
Thanks!
I get 1/4inch groups with cci SV with my FVSR all stock other than the stock.
Great video; couldn't see how you put spring and guiderod together. Can all/most of this b done with a take-down model?
I'm customizing a ruger 10/22 dropping it in a fab defense folding stock running 1-8 ffp scope don't know the brand just yet prolly vortex running open sight barrel from tac sol ruger ugraded trigger pack pretty sweet so far for a pinker and could fit a survival role
So how did you thread the barrel to the received. It is originally held on with two Alan screws.
I was wondering how do I remove the paint off my Ruger SR 22 slide? How would you go about doing this and can you make a video please, thanks.
Volquartsen…
Is any part of it still Ruger?
In the slow motion closeup of the bolt at 18:30 or so, the charging rod/bolt rocks in a rotating motion before it locks forward. Is this normal? Also, will polishing the bolt sides and receiver walls reduce the grinding noise that is mostly what I hear when you fire suppressed? A bit of polish and lubricant seems to remove most of this.
Is there any way to lock the Volquartsen Bolt Open?
How many rounds does that rubber buffer last?
will running a custom 10/22 with a rubber buffer unsuppressed ruin the rubber buffer or is it fine. and not ruin it not being suppressed.
Man, Volquartsen reciever and bolt! I have alot of smaller Volquartsen parts on mine but nothing like that.
The Ruger 10 22 is a great rifle, once you replace the barrel, the trigger group, the sights, and the stock. 🤣🤣
I literally used a fire pit to rebarrel my 10 22 and the light from that fire to line up the extractor.
What brand and model of wrist watch is that?
Do you have to have an FFL to order these parts?
Mine dosent cycle quality standard velocity. Any suggestions?
The only thing Ruger on it is the BX-25 magazine, until Volquartsen makes a $60 mag that tightens groups up by
.000001 inch.
Its good to see Chad doing some solo stuff. Keep up the good work boys!
Very nice build. I'd like to see what you guys could do with a 10/22 for a budget under $500, then compare to the high end builds.
hangmn94 Just send your bone stock ruger 10-22 to Clark custom, they'll "blueprinted" voila!
I’m qqaa
This was such a great video. Awesome journey through basic gun smithing; I'm inspired to start tinkering. Thanks guys
Looking forward to chapter two on this particular rifle. Thanks for the great content.
Love these videos. Well done Chad. Huge fan of the channel. God Bless!!
I have been looking forward to this build. Makes it easy to understand just what you do and when.
Great video Chad, keep them coming!
Very cool video. You know your stuff and the 10/22 design never ceases to amaze. And not to nitpick but you were correct in originally calling the barrel v-block fasteners screws although technically they're capscrews :)
love these workshop video's. please make more!
I really enjoy these type of videos where you have a gunsmith section and a shooting section. Good one guys , keep up the great work.
thanks a bunch Chad! you DID give me some advice that will help make my build better. .specifically the torque settings on the takedown screw, and how that effects the barrel harmonics. can't wait to see your match build! (wonder if it's at all like mine;)
Thanks for all you do. This was awesome.
Great Video showing the simplicity of the 10-22 platform. Thanks Much!
Great video guys.
Great vid! Looking forward to the shoot off.
always good to have useful infos to built a 10/22 great video guys
Very excellent video guys. I really enjoyed it.
Man i miss Barry in these vids but you guys are still making some awesome content, cant wait for the 10/22 comparison later. keep it up!
Great video!
Truely a great vid outcoming with truely a great gun. Thumbs up!
Just got that trigger when I redid my 10/22 that’s been sitting for 17 years. That timney trigger is sweet & 110% worth it! I did use a Kidd bolt & it’s sweet!
Great video again, don’t need any more encouragement with buying parts....
You should do a full auto ruger 10/22 meltdown
10/22’s never die
@@danielzapien24 we'll see about that
It would probably take around 2 hours and 5k rounds 🤣
Do it!
This is really good, thanks for doing it.
This is cool, cuz this was my first rifle and I have an archangel kit for it. I also have an ar15. The fact that you've done a series on both rifles makes me feel like I have great tastes :)
Thank you guys!! GREAT video.
looking forward to seeing the comparison
Lately I've been not saying good stuff about your videos but I do enjoy them you guys have five stars from me. Great job
super cool little rifle
Nicely done. Good info and good recording technique. I didn't get motion sickness; thanks!
Great job
Very Informative thank you! Great build
I think a great gun gripes/five guns video would be. "Clown killing/defense essentials". Since it is a big craze now.
Fantastic video, thank you!
Great video
Nice build guys.
love this channel
More building/modding videos please! Also reviews on aftermarket parts!
What a fun 22 to shoot! Nice
Perfect timing for this video! As I've been accumulating parts to build my own 10-22. I'm still undecided which stock and barrel manufacturer I will end up buying.
Awesome!
suppressor blends right in with that barrel nice build
Love that barrel!!!
This is a cool idea I would love a "build and shoot" video
Recently upgraded my 10/22 with a Green Mountain 20 in. Bull barrel, BX trigger, and new bolt, buffer pin, & charging handle/spring from KIDD. Topped it off with a Nikon Rimfire Scope. Accuracy was good before upgrade but is fantastic now.
Great channel!!!!! More 10/22 videos plz!!!
Y'all should do an update video on y'alls 10/22 builds!
nice parts
You are a great dude Chad.
That's a sick watch chad
Daaaww Chads making Eric a gift xD
Great video. It looks like it could us some lower rings to get that bell as close to the axis as possible.
Awesome, totally awesome
Kidd makes some NICE stuff to upgrade the 10/22..
That looked almost ridiculously easy. Begs a few questions though like how do you work out what is the best barrel for a specific job or a specific barrel/ammo combination? Or is it just experience?
That's one awesome rifle man. I have put together two 10/22 rifles using Magpul stock with all kidd Innovative design parts.
Nice video, I have enjoyed it , the old saying, the little things are the hardest to work on , but as we see in this video, you have proof that phrase wrong , in this built of this rifle, the 10-22 , Thanks again.
Two grand in a 10/22? Is it that much better than a $580 factory heavy barrel target model?
Definitely want to see the 10/22 Comparison video between your 2 guns!
I hear people talk about the size of their shot group at whatever distance, and we always wonder how much of that is due to human skill or error. I would like to see some video of somebody setting a 10/22 stock in concrete or in some way setting it about as immovable as possible, and then try different ammo and barrels or whatever that might affect where the bullets hit. That might be interesting.
Ray Brensike that's actually a pretty interesting idea.
Aaron Harris
For me its a gun vice. Dang it.
A vice, set one in a couple vices
Gotta love the 10/22, so much to play around with.
Money pit for sure.
well done
Nice build and kept it simple.. I prefer the carbine myself over the bull barrel but that is just a personal choice. I am using CCI mini mags at present but will be switching it up soon as I have spent the last of my 5000 rounds. . Not sure but I have heard many good things about the CCI SGB round and thought I would give it a try. If anyone has put this two rouinds side by side , is it worth while to switch from the CCI mini mag to the CCI SGB?
the perfect 10/22 good job
hey guys I know it would be fun how about doing a video the top 5 guns or items you would need for the coming clown invasion lol
The 10/22 is the greatest rifle of all time :)
Meh :) the 700 is nice but a boring bolt gun :)
A bolt gun would not be classified as a battle rifle.
Greatest .22 rifle ever. :)
way to diffuse the situation lol
weathearby mk5
holy high mounts
Nice build! Looks good to me except for the Charging Handle. I personally like the one from Ruger better. I've got a old original Ruger 10/22 from back in the 1960's with the Alum. Butt Plate and the Barrel Band on it.
beautiful
The Blackhawk axiom stock is a great option for a build where weight is a factor plus the axiom is fully free floated.
Very nice built indeed. I am getting ready to changed out my 10-22 trigger unit to a lighter pull. Have you don't a show like that before?
That's a great idea for a build. Great video as always guys. The gun in phenomenally quiet, with the exception of the reset on that trigger. It came across quite loud on the video. Are all Timeney Triggers like that?
Love your Kidd build
