    The one thing Wrexham has going for it is all the hype and attention. The higher up you go in professional sports, the bigger the average player ego. Being on Wrexham will help players get sponsorships and is the perfect platform to get press and raise their value.

      Agreed...the next season maybe two should be about consolidation and building a sqaud that can take us to the championship and stay there ready for another push to PL. I hope by the time we are Championship the new Kop will be completed and getting attendances of 19,000 per home game....Between then and now a good cup run wouldnt be amiss. UP THE TOWN!

  • @tfmn218

    Great video Liam! I think it might be a mistake to push for another promotion so soon. The economics really require the New Kop to be built and make sure the books are in order before the push is made to the Championship. Sad that these decisions can't be done on the pitch. I believe that Rob and Ryan are smart enough businessmen to ease back to keep Wrexham's success sustainable. A top half finish just out of the playoffs might be the best finish for the side.

      @kennethsimms1128 Před 21 dnem +4

      Totally agree with the initial comment. Before moving to the Championship the infrastructure needs to be correct. Firstly the new Kop stand needs completing and then secondly our own training ground needs finalising.
      League 1 will provide much tougher challenges. A top half finish makes more sense.

    Resigning Arthur, in goal, is the first step. He could be the keeper in Wrexham for the next 10 to 12 years. Howard, Tozer, and Young need to be signed to 2 year contracts. Getting 4 or 5 more Premier League academy graduates ages 21 to 24 who did not have a chance to play much at the premier league level should be the next step, stabilize the budget. Rob and Ryan appear to be wise spenders. They have excellent top quality management and administrative staff to advise them, especially when compared to other owners and teams. No team has ever done 3 promotions in a row in the EFL. The current squad could potentially challenge for a playoff spot. However, money needs to go to upgrade stadium capacity, championship level standards at least, and create training facilities similar to Sunderlands training facility. Remember, the level of fitness at those higher levels is much higher than the National League, League 2, or even League 1

    Not everyone is going to be able to continue the journey with Wrexham into League One and beyond, but this group of players has done something special and I hope everyone appreciates that (including the players themselves!)
    I think Wrexham should aim to finish midtable next season and then fight for playoffs in 2026. A nice run in the FA Cup would be a bonus. No one should be expecting the team to win League One right away; there's simply too much competition.
    Great job as always Liam!

    • @Lupin788
      @Lupin788 Před 22 dny +1

      I was going to say Mark Howard and Aaron Hayden but then remembered how injury-prone Hayden has been, unfortunately. Tozer has been a reliable and steadying influence in the dressing room but at 34, he's lost a couple of steps. By comparison, Jordan Tunnicliffe is 3 years younger. If a long throw in is needed, George Evans can fill that role. So I'll go with Howard and Tunnicliffe.

    Wrexham is going to have to expand the Kop if they want to be able to make enough money to pay good players. But for now, they should definitely focus on the training facility. Then when the team makes it to the championship, that's when they should put more time and effort into expanding the kops.

    It’ll be interesting who we keep on those expiring contracts - it’s not just who we want to re-sign, it’s what other opportunities are out there in the transfer window. I think most fans know we’ve been a League One team in waiting; now it’s time to build a competitive League One team. I’m on board with your expectations - if we finish in the top half, I’ll be happy. Then we can build on that the following year.

    I could totally see players on loan from the Prem being willing to come to Wrexham. They’ll get media attention, and the team loaning them gets the benefit of having their developing players play under the pressure of all the cameras.

    As West Ham fan, it's great to see Wrexham get back to back promotion. You probably renew Tozer's contract, maybe Hayden's contract, but he be more a squad player? Now the big question is, what is happening with your Kop stand, Rob and Ryan are not willing to pay the £25 million to build it, as they are Millionaires, not Billionaires. I think if Wrexham can finish mid table next season, that be good for Wrexham. Gives Parkinson time to sort out the squad ready for the Championship, maybe you could do an Ipswich Town In the Championship?

    It would be likely we see Tozer and Howard resigned. Swap Howard with Tunnecliffe if he gets a coaching role which is very likely. I will be sad to see Luke no longer a part of Wrexham. Main priority however is signing Arthur and building/investing in young players as our avg age is quite high atm. Rebuilding the academy has to be a major priority this season as we get our footing in League 1 so we can develop talent for the future!

    Thoughts on these rumors of Langstaff joining from Notts?

  • @67skins75
    @67skins75 Před 22 dny +7

    The reality is the economics will be the limiting factor.
    1. While the $ from the EFL increases in League 1, the players they'll need to sign to continue going up will cost more than the EFL gives. So the $ needs to come from revenues. You could raise ticket prices, but the potential to out-price the ability of the Wrexham residents becomes an issue.
    2. Given how old and outdated the stadium is, not just the Kop needs to be done but the entire stadium needs to be upgraded. To compete with some of the premier league teams, you'll need at least 50k capacity with luxury boxes to attract high-end fans. I don't even think that they have to ability to host that many people without massive congestion problems. Logistics becomes a huge factor.
    3. Given the location and population of Wrexham , they would have to count on the surrounding areas to draw in fans to be self-sustaining (which is what Rob & Ryan want). Once the hype of the documentary goes away, can the consistently draw enough people to stay profitable?
    Mid-table next year would be realistic. I think they've outpaced the natural growth of the business and need a few years to be financially ready to move up. Going up and they getting demoted again would kill the momentum the team has generated

    The biggest challenge will be filling in the spots that need to be backfilled. Until we get a training ground, we will be looking up upper 20s age bracket. We need 2 more corner backs, a central holding midfielder and an eventual Palmer replacement. Dalby just doesn’t have it physically or mentally. We will resign Howard and possibly Hayden. Everyone else will move on. I can see tozer moving into a sideline role. AO will be smart to stay. Wrexham need to offer him an escape clause if we don’t go up to the championship within 2 years or if we get demoted. Fill it with incentives. I think we stand a good chance. Sadly, Saturday will be young’s last day on the pitch in a reds shirt.

    Looking back with the benefit of hindsight, I wouldn't have been surprised if we kept Tozer at least, but no shocks with regards to the released list, even though I'm gutted for Young, Tozer and Lainton (& hope they absolutely excel at their next teams). I'm curious to hear your thoughts on Davies moving forward (& if he'd benefit more from a loan?) and the consequences of that and a lot of positions available in that area after the clean out... Are you going to be doing a video on what we can expect from the keepers in League One? I'm a huge novice so all I can do is look at stats and see who is out of contract etc, but if we miss out on Arthur, we should probably still spend some decent coin on a quality keeper... What do you think our chances are of stealing a top League One off our new competition (& making some new enemies with our big hollywood budget!) or even Championship level keeper that might have been underutilised somewhere?

    Hi Liam, I love your channel and have a different question. Would it make sense for Wrexham to just shut down the Racecourse for 2 years in a row, and rebuild the entire stadium into a 30000-35000 seat stadium all at once? Rather than construct one side at a time, just go for it.
    They would have to play somewhere, but isn't Goodison Park (capacity 40000) available with Everton on the move? As far as I can tell, it's around a one hour charter bus ride or special train from Wrexham to Liverpool. That would be a hardhship for the fans for a couple years. Understood. But if the end of the story is a spanking new renovated Racecourse with 30000 seats, and the club up in the Championship or Premier League, would it be worth it?

    As we add players, we need to target younger players that can develop with the team. Looking at transfermrkt, our average roster age is higher than teams like Ipswich, Chelsea, Bolton, etc. There are numerous interesting players worth targeting, some on expiring contracts, in their early/mid-20s, like Max Dean, Callum O'Hare, Peter Kioso, Will Evans. Much less enthused with players 30+, as we have that base. They may get you promoted, but may not be in their prime once we're up.

    Hey Liam, I dont know if this is happening for everyone or not. but I have noticed some kind of major audio degrade on your voice to mic ratio. in the last couple videos. I checked it against my tv, phone, and ear buds. i gotta drop your max volume way down to hear clearly just a fyi. I thinks it feedback on the recording or sound bouncing around the room too much as of late?

      basically, but the big difference is that players can move at any time in their contract. However, if they are under contract, the team they are currently with normally receives a fee from the team courting the player.

    Ok aside from Technical Issues, here is my thoughts on the matter comments section get ready to get angry lol. Arthur Okonkwo, I saw the report as well. he may get priced out of us keeping him on the team. If somehow he chose to stay with Wrexham and not take a big payday.. I mean my Goalie for Life!! I also want to talk about something that surfaced today again on my radar and that is Macaulay Langstaff. I understand his current contract, be massive money to get him. Yet I cannot help, but think about what a Mullin and Langstaff goal scoring machine that could become in training together. 27 goals and 24 goals combined and we still got the last game of the season this Saturday. Imagine that on the front line sheesh. look out league one lol.
    Obviously I want to keep all our current players and that will Not happen sadly. I am nervous and excited to see what is coming in the news, reports, the boys going back to las vegas and Cleworth is 21 now so thats amazing for him!!!

    Personally don't think promotion should have anything to do with Phil's decision to renew or deny contract extensions for the players. They've shown they can compete with teams above them before and these boys have earned their promotion. It's absurd to expect a team to make so many transfers just to survive being promoted. Just because the player contracts running out gives management an opportunity to throw money at something to force the team into a better position doesnt mean they should. Surely more than just two renewals is all I'm thinking.

    I predict Wrexham will finish 7 in League 1 first year, and promoted to Championship a year later when Rob & Ryan invest more money and decide that they really want the Club to make Championship! 🙏
