Just a heads up...when I ordered mine it said it would come with an Ergon enduro saddle, but it actually came with a Selle San Marco. They've updated their website recently to say it might come with a different saddle than advertised, but just in case you were hoping for an Ergon. I don't mind the one I got, but they put the wide version on, and I noticed it made contact with the inside of my legs A LOT when shifting backward on the descents. I had considered the Spectral but ended up getting the Torque. I wanted the longer travel, and I liked the components. It's probably more bike than I need, but I've been happy with it. @@beerbikesbarbells I'm 220 6ft2 on a X large. The fork has 2 tokens and 2 extra. Took 1 out and the ramp was still harsh and stiff feeling. Now have no token at 105 psi and 5 clicks of compression from the start, 2 clicks of rebound. Shock 280psi no spacer 4 clicks of rebound. Get about 80/90 percent travel. I'm getting more travel from the shock now the fork is set correctly, must be the geo and balance of the bike now eg imagine a seesaw with it's pivot point off centre. Standard ratchet was 18t, can get on the gas better with 54t eg entering a transition. Dam i kind of wonder why you didnt go the Canyon Spectral CF7? Guess its the component being full shimano & for?. I would prefer a carbon frame, can always upgrade/components later. Anyways very happy for you. I end up getting the Canyon Mullet, arrives next week.
    I was also torn between Spectral CF7 & Torque CF7, the torque is very light for its huge suspension. But concluded its too much of park bike and I may struggle with enjoyment/climbing on longer rides.

    • @beerbikesbarbells
      @beerbikesbarbells  Před 2 lety +2

      Ooh the mullet was def my favorite...I rode the Santa Cruz Bronson a couple months ago and loved it...just too far out of my price range haha. I ended up going with the AL 6 over the CF 7 because the frame is actually a little slacker than the carbon version (they designed both frames independently) and for the price, you get better brakes, and I also really like the Minion DHR tires.
      Totally agree on the Torque though. I was thinking about it, but I just don't ride park enough to make it worth it

    Hi I’m really looking forward to the next video on this bike
    I want to buy one in real raw but it’s hard to find a place to get a demo and the weird sizes are concerning

    Canyon spectral al6 vs yt Jeffrey core 2 ?
    Really appreciate the help

    • @beerbikesbarbells
      @beerbikesbarbells  Před 2 lety

      Totally understand that, it's so hard to find a place to test ride a direct to consumer brand unless you know someone who owns one already (which I didn't lol). From my own experience and some of the other comments, I'm 6ft tall with a 33in inseam, and the Large frame is perfect for me (even though the website recommended a Medium). Though if you have shorter legs you might want the Medium because I had to install the seatpost all the way down to get it low enough for the dropper to be comfortable at its highest height.
      YT is great too, so here's my take on the differences: The Spectral has a slacker head tube angle, longer wheelbase and longer reach, so it's definitely built for more aggressive terrain and will feel more stable and confident. But if the trails you ride most are more flowy, less extreme or you do a lot of climbing, the Jeffsy would probably be a better choice. The Canyon would be more versatile if you plan on riding tons of different terrain including the occasional bike park visit. The YT Capra would be more similar to the Spectral if you were sold on YT vs Canyon.
      Component wise, the spec is actually pretty similar, and all for about $500 less...the only issue with the Jeffsy would probably be getting one, because every time I've looked at YT bikes in the past year, the ones I can afford are sold out lol

    • @yanivw5162
      @yanivw5162 Před 2 lety +1

      Thank you ! (lol the yt is hard to get now that I look at it )
      And it’s probably for the better cause of the geometry of the canyon is better suited for all types of terrain
      I will probably get the canyon just wait until the real raw gets in stock because I don’t know how the orange paint gonna hold up against crash

    • @beerbikesbarbells
      @beerbikesbarbells  Před rokem +2

      Hey, I struggled with this when I was building it too! This is the mistake I was making, maybe it's the same one you've got going on too: so it may look like the dropper post cable will fit right into the gap at the bottom of the post without needing to do anything, but there's a step you have to take first. If you push down really hard on the bottom of the post, you should notice it compresses about an inch. I literally had to push mine down hard on the floor to get it to move the first time. You'll have to compress the bottom of the post, then while holding it down, insert the cable into the gap. With the cable in this new position the post lever should have the tension needed to actuate the post. The instruction manual was not very clear about this lol. Let me know if this works for you 👍

When the 5 came back in stock I cancelled my order for the 6. Then I saw some pics of flat earth on Reddit and wasn’t liking how peachy coloured the front of the bike looked. Haha aluminum frame bikes don't get enough love on CZcams. And you're right on the color...way more peach than it looks on the website but the bronze color on the back is sick! The AL5 wasn't in stock when I bought this one so it was between the 6 and the carbon version. But aside from the CF7 being more expensive, the AL6 also had a slacker head tube angle and better component spec. Wow that Slash 8 is a really nice bike, and a lot closer in price to the Spectral once you factor in import + tax on the Spectral (in 🇨🇦 at least, we have to pay 13% on imports plus sales tax of at least 5%, typically Trek and Giant bikes are priced very competitively here and cheaper than the US when factoring in the exchange rate), so the Slash is about $400 more for me but you get the ultimate rear shock (vs select+), 108pt engagement hub (vs 36 I believe), and replaceable downtube protection. Plus the 10mm more travel & I’ve always liked the chunkier look of the Trek frames and they have some of the best finishes in the business. Damn am I buying a Trek now?

      Hey, I'm 6ft with a 32 in inseam. The Canyon site recommended a Medium, but I ride a Large in every other brand so that's what I got. Honestly, this is a BIG bike, so I probably would have been fine with a Medium. The reach feels fine and it doesn't feel unmanageable, but the standover height is just a little bit high for me. And I had to slam the seat post all the way into the frame for it to be at the right height for me. It works just fine, but there isn't any room for adjustment, so I would defer to their website size guide and not ignore it like I did lol 👍After doing some comparisons, the measurements on their mediums are equal to or greater than larges from other brands.

      Congrats! Setup was pretty straight-forward. Still messing with the suspension pressures and rebound to get it dialed in to what feels best for me, but that's all personal preference. It handles everything pretty well so far, there were only a couple minor things I wasn't crazy about: 1) Mine didn't come with the Ergon saddle that was described in the specs when I bought it (they've since updated the website to say it may come with a different brand depending on supply). The saddle it did come with is way too wide for me, it kept catching on my inner thighs when shifting back, which got really annoying; 2) the grips are too thin for my liking (I replaced them with ODI Rogue grips; and 3) the bars are pretty heavy and don't dampen vibration well (I replaced with PNW Range bars from my old bike). All of these are minor changes but just some things I noticed! The components felt great for the price, I think this is probably one of the best values on the market right now. I'll take an AL frame with better components over a CF frame with lower quality components any day.

Since the trails where I live are NOT techy or steep enough to really test it out, I'll be able to give you a way better and more complete answer after putting the Canyon through its paces in Pisgah. Curious how it works out as I was also suggested Medium on the website. Also did you weight the bike and maybe wheels separately? Rocky Mountains make some sweet bikes too, and a carbon for $4000 is a great value! Do you know if it's the Carbon 30 model? I went with the Canyon because it's a little more enduro oriented (Rocky Mountain Altitude is probably more similar to the Spectral). The components on the Spectral AL 6 are maybe a little better than the Instinct Carbon 30 and it's a bit cheaper if you don't mind alloy frames, but that's still an awesome deal! One concern I have with the Spectral AL 6 and maybe you can help with this is the hub and engagement. How is it? Do you get the nice rachet sound and how much play in the engagement? I think that’s one area the C30 is slightly better. Both have a great fork and shock just 10mm less travel but it’s still considered a mid travel. Really looking for something under $4000 that’s 55-60 %downhill and 45-40% uphill. Your thoughts?

      @@TheRiotMTB Hub sound is 👍 in my opinion...actually like it better than my last bike. I haven't had any major issues with hub engagement so far...it's maybe not the quickest to engage but someone else in the comments previously said they upgraded their hub to one with more engagement points and are really happy with the results. They said they got a "54 tooth LN ratchet upgrade for the hub."
      My last bike was a carbon frame but to be honest, the extra 2 lbs weight difference between that and my new bike I don't even notice...though I'm more concerned about downhill performance and don't really care about being a quick climber lol. I think alloy gets a bad rap as being "cheap" and "for beginners" but Canyon designed the alloy frame independently of the carbon frame, so it actually has more aggressive geometry than their carbon frame which is kinda cool. Personally I'll take an alloy frame with better components over a carbon frame with entry-level components any day, but that's just me!
      Overall the Instinct's geometry and lighter weight is probably gonna make it a better climber than the Spectral, though may be less stable on really gnarly descents. Oh and didn't even ask...are you going 27.5 or 29er? Hope this helps 👍
