  • In this video I'm trying to recreate top shots from The Matchroom 2021 US Open Pool Championship. I'm explaining in brief manner what I'm doing and what is the idea of each shot. Also on some shots I showed POV GoPro view
    The shots in this video are from: Judd Trump, Naoyuki Oi, Shane Van Boening, Carlo Biado, Albin Ouschan, Francisco Sanchez-Ruiz, Sanjin Pehlivanović
    00:00 ► Introduction
    00:05 ► Shot 11: not very difficult, but beautiful thin shot by Judd Trump on the 8 ball
    01:00 ► Shot 10: power bank shot on the 5 under pressure from Carlo Biado
    01:44 ► Shot 9: long bank shot on the 3 from Francisco Sanchez-Ruiz
    02:22 ► Shot 8: kick shot from Judd Trump
    03:06 ► Shot 7: Shane Van Boening with his finesse kick shot on the 2
    03:58 ► Shot 6: two jump shots in a row by Sanjin Pehlivanović. Unbelievable reaching skills on the 1, and awkward short distance jump on the 2
    04:59 ► Shot 5: two way kick shot from Albin Ouschan
    05:48 ► Shot 4: long pot by Carlo Biado
    06:55 ► Shot 3: not easy 1-9 combination from Naoyuki Oi
    08:39 ► Shot 2: full table jump shot from Carlo Biado
    09:23 ► Shot 1: almost a fluke from Carlo Biado
    11:34 ► Bonus Shot: almost a shot of the tournament by Shane Van Boening
    13:16 ► Final scene (who wants to be a billionare) us open pool championship

    Guys, the score of Shaw - Trump was 11-1, it was a mistake
    Actually shot two was with 1 attempt, a mistake in the final titles.

    at 6:50 you left out an important part of the shot, to flap your hands like a briefly startled duck when it doesn't scratch.
    Also, I can't believe the wired 2-9 combo is that missable. I'd have guessed first try, at least 8/10 success rate to make it. do your balls throw a lot?
    Well anyway, I cannot nitpick this video, I really like it. It's great seeing these things done by a semi-professional player who acknowledges that part of it is luck, but is also good enough to know what's intentional. Like you know it's realistic to hide behind the 8 after trying that wired 2-9 kick combo, but you know not to waste time trying to recreate Biado's 3 rail position after the jump shot that clips the 9.
    Would enjoy seeing more of these.
    ps - I was sad about Judd, until I remembered... even though he lost the game of pool, he won the game of "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire"

    • @genipool
      @genipool  Před 2 lety +1

      1-9 wasn't wired, was a small gap. Easily missable because of the throw effect. Also on 2 or 3 shots the 9 rolled off to the left

  • @gefhowie

    Pretty sure Biado's shot at 9:56 goes only one rail before he hits the 1, going to have a different spin on it than the two rails you hit.

    • @genipool
      @genipool  Před 2 lety +1

      It goes. But he was attempting 2 rails because of dead carom combo 1 from the 5. I wasn't going to attempt his result, would take like 100 tries.
      But you should know this if you watched my analysis 😁

  • @sphigel1
    @sphigel1 Před 2 lety

    Nice video! Loved the ending! Only nitpick, SVB’s shot at the end was executed with mostly, if not all, topspin. Any left english on his cue ball could have been simply rail-induced spin. Your recreation of the shot was done with mostly left english, not follow. It’s just a minor annoyance of mine when people “recreate” famous difficult stroke shots by hitting them completely differently. As an example, look at any recreation of Corey Deuel’s famous draw shot. They all use english to bring the ball back, and not draw.
    Now as for why SVB chose to hit that shot with top spin and not left english? I have no idea. Perhaps he thought the chances of a two way were better.
    Other than that, great video though.

    • @genipool
      @genipool  Před 2 lety

      I disagree with you on SVB shot. Without the left spin the position on the 2 ball is much more difficult to achieve.
      About Deuel's shot - I want to recreate it more correctly

    • @sphigel1
      @sphigel1 Před 2 lety

      @@genipool All you have to do is watch the difference in cue ball trajectory between SVBs shot and yours. The difference is clear as day. His position was accomplished with top spin. Yours was accomplished with left English. It’s really not even debatable to people who know the game.

    • @genipool
      @genipool  Před 2 lety +1

      I'm sure I know the game decently. He had this trajectory because he hit the 1 ball too full. It doesn't make sense to apply only top spin, because this way it is less likely to avoid the 6. May be he misshitted the shot or side spin didn't affect the trajectory too much, but I'm sure he was going to apply side spin

    • @Isuc_at_poolgolf
      @Isuc_at_poolgolf Před 2 lety +1

      Of course SVB used left english, just look at how the cue ball reacts after contacting the short rail.

    • @sphigel1
      @sphigel1 Před 2 lety

      @@Isuc_at_poolgolf are you familiar with rail induced spin? The shot will naturally pick up left hand English after contacting the first rail (before hitting the object ball). You can also see the ball arc forward with a lot of top spin after hitting the object ball. Something that doesn’t occur in the recreation of the shot.
