Just like anything unfamiliar, it's awkward at first, but if you keep at it, get familiar, it'll become a part of you. Good luck!

Thank you! A very clear and educational video. Would this work with other types of plastic bags, too? I've never seen the type of bag you have.

Hello, I'd suggest experimenting with whatever you have around that you'd otherwise discard. The #2 Plastic (HDPE, high-density polyethylene) bags are the most common plastic sac provided at grocery stores in my region. These tan bags come from the main market chain called Publix here in the southeast. Up in Chicago, where I'm originally from, many markets provide the same types of bags but in differing colors (clear, yellow, gray...). Play with what you have available, and see what you get. Enjoy! ^_^

Is the working piece of “yarn” (the yarn over) a double layer of plastic?

It does have a tendency to twist and torque into a spiral. Change up your tension or your hooks, and don't be afraid to nudge it and block it flat into place. Good luck, and happy crafting!
