  • Anne Walkden, "The Fiber Geek" (on Facebook), shows how to turn discarded plastic grocery bags into useful and colorful items by making plastic yarn, or "Plarn" out of them. She shows a variety of items made with plarn that you can make or purchase directly from her through her home based business.

    This is THE BEST way EVER to be able to tie these loops together to form a ball of plarn. I have never seen any method that can compare. Thank you!!!

    I love your technique. I saw a lady on another channel where she twisted the plain to make it stronger and it looked like wicker to make it into a basket. That might be a better way to make sure it doesn’t stretch.

    I discovered plan only recently - What an innovative reduce, reuse, recycle idea - Love it. Asking a friend of mine (whom I've been telling to use less plastic bags than she does, and recycle the ones she does use) to bring them over for me to make plarn - She's gonna be quite surprised when I take the lot from her & put em to good use. Like your tip on using yarn with for a long lasting effect - Thank you M'Dear. Ushta-te!!

    Wow! Seven years further....I Am delightfully flabbergasted and inspired to see your creativity with plastic bags! I just "happened" to come across and see your video while looking for crocheting with twine teachings. How great! I will share this with others. The next time i see plastic bags floating down the street, ponds, lakes, or in the ocean, it will be quite a gathering...! Thank You So Much! Your creations are Fabulous!

    I love making plarn bags. They're great for when your hands are kinda burnt out on just crocheting, because it's also fun to cut up the bags and link the plarn together, it gives ya a break from the crochet. I also really like your technique for linking them, I had been using a more tedious method but now I am going to use this method.

    I have a question? How do you put your shoulder straps on your bags.

    • @rainbowvt
      @rainbowvt Před 8 lety

      +Lori Griesheimer To put shoulder straps on my bag, I just create a chain long enough and at the right point in the side of the bag, then I attach the chain after skipping 9 stitches and keep crocheting around. I then repeat that on the other side. After that I continue to crochet around and into the chained stitches for two more rows to make the straps wider.

    • @rainbowvt
      @rainbowvt Před 8 lety

      +Maru Shard 27 I am not sure what you mean by something hot? Maybe you are referring to the coffee cup sleeve? It insulates the cup from burning your hands, but the plastic does not melt or get messed up when on the outside of a coffee cup. I hope that answers your question.
