Frank Foster’s composition,"Shiny Stockings," is one of the greatest jazz tunes for big band. Arranged by Greg Yasinitsky and scored for an accessible grade 3 level, this chart has all the ingredients you expect, plus a few short section solis and an ensemble shout chorus. Other features are a written-out solo for 2nd trumpet and the lead trumpet range is to written A above the staff. A wonderful new chart on a Basie classic. Bro it sounds heavenly. 🪽
does the bass not match the score or am i stupid
Clorox Bleach, it matches it you might be listening to the guitar.
It's not always that bass players follow what is written. The composer wrote the chords in and they are up to adaptation as the player and conductor please.
Welcome to a jazz rhythm section my friend.
This kind of walking line is similar to a walking solo. You can follow it if you want, but you're free to walk around within the chords. For specific rhythm stuff tho, you gotta follow the chart.

Do you think a person that’s been playing this on sax for 1 years and a half would be able to play this?
i did! it really starts with accidentals, getting the rhythms and then muscle memory. the solis are so much fun to play.
Play at 1.25x it’s better
Hezy no it’s not
Matthew Fry yes it is
Oh frik who do I believe
Not really. It's supposed to be laid back
Ya legit feels too slow
This is too simple and is different from all other renditions, I would not be excited to play this rendition with an ensemble.
