Love the way your wife gets more and more into FSD . Always great reveiws from the two of you , the slightly differing analysis is quite refreshing . Keep them coming and thank you .
Stephanie’s excitement had me so hyped. Bro I think you have the content now to make a “then vs now” wife edition. I want to do something like that with Rex but she’s still in the “laugh at FSD phase” 🤣
🤣🤣🤣
Can’t be laughing at FSD💪🏼🔥
Lol
And 100% agree
What a time to be alive. Update your car and now it just parks itself. Crazy
Not so fast u have to have EAP, a 6000 dollar upgrade :(
Dear scholars
I didnt have to purchase anything and I had auto park
Is it a trial?
@@DrewBoi34 Well rn everyone has a free trial including me. Its a cool feature but not that practical. Should be free imo
On the dirt road, I liked how the car moved to the right when its view was occluded by a rise in the road - in case something was coming on the other side. Very nice.
It’s safer to back in, because it’s safer when you pull out. It’s been mandatory at my work to back in at my work for over a decade.
This is true, but he's also probably correct about the cameras. Its view of near objects is _way_ better out the back thanks to that backup cam. Bumper cam should come standard on all cars. Glad CT has it, hopefully that means it's coming to the rest of the lineup eventually.
I mean this use to be true but it isn’t for vehicles that have a large FOV backup camera. They can see more than you can when blocked in by cars and needing to inch the front end out until there is visibility from the left.
czcams.com/video/BZjd8zREhhY/video.htmlsi=vxRw2MxeHrNi_cHH . This is tesla's next car, you will never need to back up again!!! LOL
Backing in with auto park will help Actually Smart Summon know that it can always pull forward out of a spot when there is no cross traffic or pedestrians.
That makes no sense, the danger is exactly the same, you still need to back in which is dangerous. Sure pulling out is easier (not always safer) but backing in initially when people are just trying to drive past is not safer. It's like going up a mountain, you have to go up to get back down the other side. You don't just go up and stay up. Just went to a supercharger with one that was half-tipped over because someone backed into it. Not safer. People have trouble driving forwards or backwards. I dont have a problem either way so I don't care. Just don't act like it's safer, it was just Elon's ego and drive to do it differently which is why we do it. Some superchargers you also drive in forward as well.
Love you two together in these. ❤
That parking job was perfect. It would be interesting to test it in a populated lot that does not have very busy traffic. It would be interesting to see how it parks between 2 cars. If you gain confidence try the feature when there are more traffic interactions.
I worked for a company that we all had to back into our packing spaces. The company ran fleet vehicles, which were required to back in, so they just made everyone do it for practice. Apparently, it was safer overall.
Backing in is definitely safer. I've been doing it for years. I was backing out of a parking space and an idiot backed into me to give somebody room to pull out.
@@markl3893 you heard it here kids! Never pull out!
Backing out is the dangerous part. You want to have as much side visibility as possible for that part, and that means driving forward.
Going in, you can see traffic easily, it's safest to do the backing up part then.
You may not care whether it’s close to the adjacent cars, because pretty soon you’ll just get out of the car after you specified a parking spot and it will park in there while you’re walking into the store.. It will then be retrieved from there with Smart summon. So you should never have to worry about getting out of the car with adjacent cars parked.
Summon and Smart Summon have been disabled for a long time, because without ultrasonic sensors, Tesla has no confidence in these functions.
What about the people your parked so close too they can't get in there vehicle while your in the store. Have fun with a huge dent in your door or maybe they decide to key your car or stab a tire.
Elon ‘soon’ 3-5 years 😂
Soon for Elon means 5 years..
@@Waldo1122 Elon said 1 million humans on Mars by 2050. In 26 years.
That is not 'soon', that is ridiculous fantasy.
Backing into a parking spot has always been about reducing accidents when exiting as you are much less likely to hit someone if you are driving forward rather than going backwards. This is why the Tesla charging port and Superchargers were designed to require backing into the spot even before FSD camera were a thing.
I back in so I could leave faster. So I love that it does that automatically! 🔥
Reversing in a pulling out in Drive is the safest way to park on a lot like that.
@@markl3893 I believe it, it is a bit slow tho. I would probably just park myself in a crowded lot
Why is that better than arriving faster?
A better reason would be that, when pulling in, you can see the traffic around you, so it's safe to back in. Whereas, when pulling out, cars to either side are occluding your vision, so it's far less safe to back out. Assuming you don't have some weird car where there's more car length ahead of the driver's seat than behind.
Except when your carrying large objects that you want to put in the trunk. For example when you're at Home Depot.@@markl3893
Almost everybody in Japan backs in, so it is probably somehow better. I have heard a reason is getting out of there quickly in case of a Tsunami alarm, but conformity and order is so popular in Japan that it could have happened for no particular reason.
12:10 I lol'd at "You're being a little dramatic."
Thank you for the enthusiasm and clarity of the video. Well done!
Back in parking is safer as leaving a spot head first has much more visibility. In many jurisdictions it's actually the law (albeit not strictly enforced).
With a tesla tho it’s actually the opposite.. rear camera is A+ and better vis than a driver head first..
@@George2647g I'd still rather pull forward. Imagine a busy unprotected intersection where you had to back up to the stop sign!
Weird, here in Madison wisconsin, there are parking “tight/busy” parking lots where back in parking is not allowed. I think it’s because when you back out of the spot, the reverse light turn on vs driving forward (during the day) headlights typically don’t turn on. Increasing the chance of accidents. 🤷🏻♂️
@@chonyiNo, it’s because most cars don’t have the cameras a Tesla does.
@@George2647gMOST parking lot accidents during backing out of a parking space.
Great point about creeping before going, to show intention.
Regarding the handicap spot thing, I mean, handicapped people drive Teslas too. It'd be nice if the display showed the handicap icon on the spot so you can identify it, but there's no reason to prevent every person from parking in those spots.
The driver still needs to know which spots are handicapped so people don't park there or let the car park there if they're not handicapped. The car at some point should be able to recognize the difference.
@@spacep0d OP mentioned that..
@@madhououinkyoma I was responding to a comment.
Auto park backing into the spot allows the driver to use FSD from the parking since FSD does not go in reverse.
The auto park is Crazy good! We tried at a park wherein the empty spots were marked with a P as you drive by the parking lot. Awesome ✨
Hi guys, great video, couple thing a nice touch, thanks.
Love my home town of Fenton. Awsome parking with selection and the parallel is super, all with just lines. Forward and back too, nice. Can’t wait to get it. Keep up the good work.
I did one backing next to two cars with one car over the white line almost in my spot. it did great.
Whoever dug through the footage to make the clips for the intro is awesome!
I only *just* got 12.3.1 up here in Canada on my 2022 Model 3 but it's already impressing the heck out of me! Can't wait for more v12 updates! 😄
Yet another 💣 vlog with Steph! I even got a few chuckles!
Very enjoyable Chris and Stephanie. Looks like super improvement
My car slowed down for a railroad track which completely surprised me. I’m still on 12.3. Very excited about the future for FSD as there have been so many great improvements on this version
Always enjoy your videos.
I feel like you need to do a comparison video on this drive vs first wife drive. What a difference.
Would be nice with an option for which direction to park in. Personally I park nose in for easy access to the trunk when I go shopping. Still looks a lot more useful than previous versions!
It's not backing in because of the lack of a bumper camera. The high fidelity park assit shows what is in front of the car fine. I think the reason it backs in is so it has the A-pillar cameras for visibility when leaving. the rear facing side cameras are too low to provide visibility to the sides from a parking spot in a busy parking lot.
Great video and very impressive results. Wow!
Good demo other than a little bit of speeding. Loved watching the parking too!
Some of those roads are "pure Michigan" with the hot patch on top of the hot patch lol! Can't wait to get this version!
Nice normal stuff. Thanks.
WOW! It's so cool! It's like I'm just sitting there with you!
On the first parking assist for him it traveled over the parking line upon entry. This makes me wonder if that was appropriate with a vehicle in the spot it went over the line towards.
Nice parking. Might still have to do three passes if there are cars on either side. Please see if you can try in a loaded parking lot. Thanks.
what i love about every parking test video of fsd beta 12 is that they only do it in empty spots with no cars around the parking spot. :D (but you did it next to a car so thats nice) - also interesting that the tesla always wants to go in reverse because it has a CAMERA there - really a bummer that the new model 3s dont have a front bumper cam.
her breakdown on what happened at that four-way stop was perfection. This is exactly how we need to think, instead of just quickly concluding "FSD doesn't work".
6:25 i think why it does this is because its required to stop a distance behind the sign then moves forward to see and scan the intersection before proceeding. I notice that everytime i come to a full stop at an intersection, as in when i drive, im much closer to where the stop sign is so that i can see into the intersection before i proceed.
I lost FSD the other day and had to drive the car myself . I tried rebooting the computer to no avail. The way I got it back was with the Tesla Key Card.
Weird. Another reliable method is letting the car sleep, that can fix many things
It feels slow because it's performing the maneuver slowly, but if you consider a human backing in, and then having to pull forward and back in again because they weren't straight on the first try, it's probably faster. It's going to get it right on the first try.
Just so we know.... we are supposed to stop at the stop sign.. then, move forward to look to see if it is safe to go.
For the first released version of this I think it was okay. Can't wait for it to get better
I finally received 12.3 HW 4 and it is amazing! Looking forward to parking. It used to be really terrific 7 years ago.
Hi, great video... could you please confirm if you have HW3 or HW4 in your car?
This was a great video. I learned a lot! I’m still on v11. I’m looking forward to my update!
that's cool, great video, thanks
Here in Europe we have to do a lot of street parallel parking. Would love to see the new auto park trying this parallel parking on the street somewhere near your office. My 2019 TM3 with FSD (European dumb down FSD version!!) Can do streets parallel parking, only problem is it's very slow and tends to upset other drivers that are waiting for me to get into my parking space. 9 times out of 10 I do have to take over as it is way too slow. Hoping you put together an up-and-coming demonstration of the new auto park doing this and that it can do it quickly.
Regards Séamus Dublin Ireland.
Yep. I also have 2019 FSD in Norway. It is soooo slow. I've never used it, tried again a week ago for fun. And it feels faster than previously, but still same slow software. This one is all different. Maybe they could give us FSD customers in Europe this thing at least.
@@odinu I think they could very easily give us in Europe the auto park that they’ve given the folks in North America. And while they are at it could also give us the same visualisation screen the folks in North America have. Anyway I’d love Chris to give us a demonstration of street parallel parking near his workplace. Regards Séamus
I’ve been getting that “vehicle hold disabled” error for 2 years; sometimes it interrupts FSD. You have to park and completely turn off the car (Safety > Power Off) to clear it.
Nice parking, FSD,
That it's a little to slow will probably be fixed larer.
I guess it's slow partly to give the driver time to react if it does something wrong.
That's probably why it's slow in other situations too.
Th girl gave many insightful comments!
That's no girl! That's his wife!
Pretty cool. I'm guessing auto park won't work for parking lots with angled parking spaces with directional traffic flow, where you have to pull in. Or am I wrong? We'd like to see this scenario as well as auto parking in a crowded parking lot.
Steph’s comment about how many things a driver does without conscious effort is so very true.
I had a stroke 18m ago and after 6m mandatory non-driving and the mandated test and report from an authorised therapist I’m back on the road.
However I am still very careful because I have to THINK about every interaction and decision- It’s no longer subconscious. Because of this it’s very tiring and it brings home in spades just how much of “normal” driving is done on a mental autopilot. That’s not to say it’s necessarily unsafe, just that a lot goes on under the conscious radar. We’ve all driven a long familiar distance and not being able afterwards to recall the drive. I can’t do that now in the same way- and it’s very tiring!
Just got this update today!! Wow! It's very good!
Cheers
The only thing I’d ping it for on the roundabout at the very end is that it didn’t indicate to exit.
2:45 I have fsd 12.3.1 and I don't like that it takes off too fast. It accelerates too fast. Wouldn't that use up too much energy?
I arrived at a parking lot with clear lines. My car didn’t show the parking grid and let me choose which spot.
I had the P icon at the bottom right. Once I pressed it, it picked the spot for me already and asked me to press start.
Any idea?
At the roundabout right at the end of the video 18:24 , I see FSD uses no indicators at all. Is that a US driving style difference, or did it do it wrong? In the UK we'd do the equivalent of you indicating left all the way around the roundabout until switching to indicate right once past exit 3, then clear the indicator once off the roundabout.
Amazing!!!
Another thing to try is with an angled parking slot. Would it actually back in when the appropriate way would be front end or would just not present it as an option.
It doesn't work with angled parking
Dumb question, but how do you get the autopark to appear? I have a new Model X and got the 12.3 update last week, and I have never had the option of autopark in a parking lot. Great content and thanks.
Do you have to keep the hands on your wheel?
So will this now be available for enhanced AP too? About to take delivery of a used 3 (2023 blue model SR!) and it’s coming with EAP so I’m hoping it’s enabled for it.
I got it last night from version 11 and was so excited. Lots of differences. It’s not very good about unmarked roads in NY (No speed sign means the speed limit is 55.) It thinks they’re all either 5mph or 25mph.
The car exhibits the parking. Not necessarily with intention to have people in the car while it is parking.
There is a profound difference there.
Without people it can park a lot closer to other objects. No need to open the doors.
Car will drop you off somewhere and pick you up. Can park itself meanwhile.
Thanks for the video!!!
True but if there is a car next to you the people in that car will need to open their doors, so it's courteous to leave room. Will definitely be interested to see more tests of this in busier spots to see how it does in a more everyday scenario but it looks pretty great so far.
@@jful
If there's not enough room it's best to leave room on the driver's side of the other cars. The driver then can pull out and let the passengers get in after. If cars park in alternate directions than they have their same sides facing each other, and use up significantly less space.
Great review thanks!
Is there a painted like for the truck or was it as faded as the other? I would guess in some way beta may had thought it was a cross-traffic stop where they would continue.
It appears that you still have to manually drive into the parking lot? It will be cool when it will go to your parking lot destination all by itself and all you need to do is pick a spot! Or better yet, set the car to automatically find the closest spot.
Great video DT! Nice to see the wifey test out all the FSD stuff. Be interesting to see how well it self parks in the garage and self parks at a SuperCharger….
It will often do strange turns before the destination to ensure that the car is on the correct side of the road for drop off (without doing any dangerous u turns).. yeah.
nice!!
At the 7:00 mark did it miss the left turn? Why did you cut there?
Actually, if you turn off automatic speed control, you are correct it does not then accelerate, but if you then raise the speed with the scroll wheel or whatever and then accelerate to that speed, it will maintain it.
I got the (H)old no longer available error too and I did a power off of the car and it fixed it. Must be something to do with the auto park. Next day I got another update (2024.2.13) that might fix this.
This autopark hold not available bug is even present down here in Australia with the non-FSD builds. The easiest way for me to reset was to disable the hold function and re-enabling it.
I don't have the ability to select parking spaces. I have 12.3.3. Does anybody know if parking space selection was removed since 12.3.2 (the version shown in this video)?
Wow what a difference
I don't get the reason you need "auto speed offset" anyway. I mean just set 5 or 10% over the speedlimit and done. FSD will always adapt to the road conditions and go the speed limit or slightly above as you configured it. Why do I need a function which randomly decides to speed? 🤔
Go test U turn. My 12.3 did “U” turn on a “no U turn” sign 😂. And then try to do U turn on a quite busy ‘T’ bone section, I have to cancel it.
The hardest parking is the parallel parking between cars. Maybe you should take a video about this too.
I can't get the autopark to work on my 22 MYP. Am I missing something?
Does it support forward bay parking, aka forward stall parking, as that is required in lots of locations?
Ok, just watched the scene with the mention of no front camera. Hmm, but the CT does, could be interesting when available.
Do teslas with ultrasound sensors also get the new auto park with this build?
Works well
I don't know why people compare Tesla's with other cars ? It's like comparing a smartphone with a math calculator to me
Exactly said bro 😅
Do you have your fog lights turned on?
Pretty awesome. Still, no turn signal in the roundabout. Why is that so hard?
Can you show parallel parking?
Do we know if Tesla integrates school zones ECT into their map data ?
Shout out Fenton MI. Nice city.
Its Funking great
Mr Dirty Tesla, is this version of autopark related to the smart summon that is disabled for all the newer models that don't have the infared censors anymore? Im trying to find out when theyre gonna have an update that supports the newer models.
I don't understand why yours will go at or above the speed limit on a 2 lane highway, but I live near an extremely similar highway with the same 55mph limit and it refuses to go over ~48mph (12.3). Even if I hold it above, it slowly trickles back down into the 40s after I let go. Either setting will do this, the auto speed or not. Basically useless, back to regular AP for me.
If it has Stefanie's approval, then I want it too! Great video!
i loved Stephanie
Please note that parking backwards is deemed the safest option, according to experts. It is actually mandatory in industrial and mining locations. Main reason being you leave the car ready to safely - with best view over the exit path - exit in case of an emergency.
8:35 I wonder why it didn't go to the spot that you selected?
1:19 it's called dirty tesla for a reason lol
Is this with fsd only?
