  • A South Jersey woman's win on a slot machine in Atlantic City is being called into question.
She turned to our investigative team for answers after she says the casino refused to pay the jackpot.
Bally's Casino and the gaming company, International Game Technology, are disputing the alleged seven-figure windfall and told her the win was a technical glitch.
"I was hoping for $1,000, saying, 'Please God let me win,'" recalled Roney Beal of Shamong Twp., New Jersey.
Beal told us she loves playing the slots. At the end of February, she went to Bally's and dumped hundreds of dollars into a Wheel of Fortune machine.

Let me just say I am from Nevada and not New Jersey.
    1. For the most part, the machines that offer 6-8 figure jackpots are leased to the casino by the slot manufacturer. These are called Wide Area Progressives.
    2. While there would be an inspection by the casino, ultimately it should have been IGT making the call, not Bally’s. As it is told, it is not clear why IGT wasn’t the one to tell her she lost.
    3. If you’re in Nevada and the dispute is over $500, the casino MUST call gaming.
    4. Jackpots typically aren’t multiplied by any multiplier generally, so the 2x is immaterial.
    5. Also every slot keeps a record of the last 10-100 spins.

I've played Wheel of Fortune multiple times. To get the 1.2 million, you have to play at the progressive level. She was playing 9 lines on the minimum bet, which does not qualify for the progressive jackpot. Most of the machines will tell you what the minimum bet is to qualify for the progressive. In addition, she stated she pushed the service button because if it was a jackpot, there would not be a need since a call attendant with the amount of the hand pay won would've been on the screen alerting them to go to that machine. It stinks that these machines void on malfunctions. It's play at your own risk.

  • @Whoopdido777

Why would she hit the service button? Every time you win an amount on a slot machine higher than $1,999 it gets locked out and “call attendant” shows up on the screen, but really you don’t have to call the attendant because after the machine locks out it automatically triggers the blinking light on top of the machine and also I believe the slot attendant is automatically alerted that a jackpot was hit as well. That way the attendant knows that he or she needs to come over and give you a hand pay. Obviously this wouldn’t have just been a simple hand pay. It would have been much more special but the same techniques should have been in place. All I know is that I’ve hit many jackpots and gotten handpays and have never pressed the service button.

In fact there’s a 6 minute video of Mr Hand Pay winning over 1 million somewhere and his entire session was filmed and you can still watch it. I actually asked him a couple questions and he answered me. One was how did they pay him and he said they paid him by check right on the casino floor. The only possible difference could have been that he won his massive jackpot in front of a huge audience and he’s a CZcams influencer and she’s a nobody.
