For all those saying we live in a dirty house. This PS5 is run for 16+ hours a day, every day for 18 months to test how it lasts, and part of that was not cleaning it our to see if it would overheat, that's what we do on this channel, we test things. So when comparing this to your own PS5, take the hours it is used into account. I'm more than positive it would look no different no matter who's house it was in. We also have a second PS5 in the house which is exactly the same age and was used in a more normal way, and when that was taken apart to fit an SSD you can see that even with no prior cleaning and video being shot at the same time, that PS5 has hardly any dust. After 2 years you definitely are gonna need to fully disassemble the housing to clean the heat sinks. Within 3 years I’ve had to do this twice because of the power unit tripping/resetting and overheating/loud cracking sounds the second time. After cleaning both times the console was as quiet as a mouse and gave me and extra year+ of usage between maintenance. Plz show love to the heat sinks and not just the fan, you’d be surprised of how much dust is actually in there.

@@danielweiss4498 what if your console is dusty like this one, I wonder if those holes really work. I don't think it would get the dust out the fan, but maybe just the dust internally in the console that you can't see
Mine was like that after the first 3 months of its release (uk day1 owner) and well cleaned it last night and mine made yours look spotless I was absolutely mortified
Just wait until you pull out the fan and get down into the heat sinks. Holy moly! I’ve had mine since release and it also runs 16hrs a day, every day. Never missed a beat, but it’s more efficient than my hoover.
Not sure why consoles don’t just have a washable air filter that you can pull out like a central air filter. Just clean the filter and put it back in. No dust inside on your components or heat sink clogging anything.
Did mine today after 14 months and it was awful it lives on a shelf close to my ceiling so no suprise there. Didn’t take it apart as didn’t want to void warranty I just carefully hoovered the inside and wiped it down runs much cooler now 😁
Pro tip, put your PS5 in the horizontal position. The reason is in horizontal no dust gets in. If you look at a PS5 in horizontal, you see the white panels are like a roof around the top of the PS5 so that no dust gets in. When PS5 is in vertical you see how all the open areas are open for all the dust in your room to freely drop inside the PS5. So even though it will take up more space horizontally, its worth it to have it horizontal to keep as much dust as possible from getting inside. ✌️
It may be news to you but dust is airborne so it will just get sucked in anyway. Yes, you won't have that part of the dust that falls down and into the console but that's a minority.
Dumb comment sorry but it will always collect dust if it’s on as one fan needs or be sucking air in to cool it… just basic PC knowledge. Also this was barely any dust the ps5 performance would not have been affected by that much dust.. I was suprised how little it was. My PC has had 20 times More dust and ran fine lmao
My ps5 lives in the living room, high traffic area, near the front door. I have 2 air purifiers in the area, and it still gets dusty. Every time my dog shakes inside, dirt and hair go flying. The ps5 does get dirty. Thankfully, I dont have carpet and have a roomba that vacuums daily. The console in my gameroom doesn't get very dirty because it's not a high traffic area and the dog and cat don't go out there.
I’ve had mine the same amount of time and I opened it up to just do general clean. My ps5 was no where near as dirty as that lol. Just a little bit of dust 😂
I'm on the third floor of an apartment. I don't play my PS5 a great deal, but I've had it for 18 months and have not cleaned it until today, when I installed an M.2 SSD. I did have some dust buildup on the outside top, which I just wiped off. Very little dust inside, none really all that visible - I just took a blower to it.
Congratulations on the beautiful work brother. God bless you always man. I subscribed to the channel, and left the link. Hugs from your friend here in Brazil, Jailson Santos.
With that level of dust and debris around the fan intake, you may find there is more clogging up the APU heatsink. You should be able to take the fan out, without fully dismantling the whole console and take a peek. Also there are some deep holes on the “top” side of the console (for those who have theirs horizontal) you can pop your vacuum on to clear the airways further.
I bought a used PS5 digital edition for $480 CAD (Canadian Dollars) and I removed the side panels, was filthy like yours! Especially the fan, I'd remove the fan and brush the heatsinks inside.
Does not matter how clean you think you are unless you live in a static free and dust free environment you’re going to see it looking like that in about 1 to 2 years. Just done mine yesterday after a year and the fan had a slight layer but was minor. Heat sinks seemed clean.

@@Kreptic good boy
Im so happy its that easy to clean it. Just pop the covers.
Need to get that fan out and clean it properly my guy - that clean ain’t doing too much but is still a definite improvement
Uhm no you don’t it’s a ps5 not a pc from the 90’s 😂 you don’t need to clean consoles I have had my ps4 for 10 years never opened it once to clean it lol there engineered specifically so you don’t have to clean them. If you had to clean it it would say somewhere on the manual to prevent lawsuits
@@theageofminecraft1 I’ve cleaned plenty of them and if you want them running effectively/efficiently and quietly then yeah a proper clean of the heatsinks etc is the go
@@Sayin42 no offence but you clearly
Have little to no idea what your talking about.
You’ve cleaned plenty of ps5’s? What are me.clean for the the whole neighbourhood. Most people couldn’t even get one till a few months ago I seriously doubt you’ve cleaned a bunch of them. 😂 bro trust me I’ve built pcs my whole life. You don’t gotta clean the heat sink of a fucking ps5 your literally voiding your warranty doing that and risking frying your motherboard. 😂 there designed to be cleaned from the outside or at most after years of use opening the cover. Like he does in the video and using a can of computer compressed air duster not a fucking vacuum 😂
2nd) the fan sits right on top of the heat sink that’s the whole point of a compressed air can they have thin nozzles that allow you to get the hard to reach areas so you don’t gotta take apart your shit. You don’t think the engineers at Sony designed it in a way that can be cleaned effectively from the outside? Most console users never ever clean there shit and they run fine for years. Try doing that with a generic cheap case PC and your pc will be overheating in a couple years for sure. Just stop spreading misinformation man your risking some dumb kids fucking up there console.
This is so satisfying 😀
How did yours get so dusty? I had mine since launch and the only time I've opened it is to upgrade my storage which was last month and it was never that dusty
You'd have to ask my son that question 😄
@@TheTechGiantCZcams hahahahaha. That was kinda gross in there. 😆
Same here
Indeed
They don't vacuum
Thanks mate. Really easy and straight forward to follow. Appreciate it 👍🏼
👍🏼Thumbs up if you recognize the vacuum brand by the attachment.
I do! 🤣
Hey mate just seen this sony also put in two slots none disc side so can hoover more from inside.
Disclaimer alert, not sure Sony recommends hoovering, but looks cleaner!
It's ok as I was Dysoning 😉😁
Sony literally tell you to hoover the system in the manual.
This is the path I’m taking! I see people remove the fan and every other part. I’m too nervous for that lol
You have no right to be this satisfying 😤
The PS5 is doing it's job. It's a vacuum cleaner.
Wal-Mart vacuum cleaner. Ok
@@KeepCalmbreath Any kind of vacuum??
Mines keep shutting off while I’m in mid game nd I think it’s because of the dust inside, I had it since 2020 and never cleaned in the inside 🤦🏾♂️
You forgot to remove and clean the the fan and fan housing....there's more dust in there lol i just cleaned mine this weekend
See pinned comment 😉
After 2 years you definitely are gonna need to fully disassemble the housing to clean the heat sinks. Within 3 years I’ve had to do this twice because of the power unit tripping/resetting and overheating/loud cracking sounds the second time. After cleaning both times the console was as quiet as a mouse and gave me and extra year+ of usage between maintenance. Plz show love to the heat sinks and not just the fan, you’d be surprised of how much dust is actually in there.
Must have a nasty ass house
I gave my son’s PS5 a good clean last week I even took the fan out as well as the hoovering, my son has to leave the room once I start taking it apart. Dismantled the PS4 before no fear here great video
I’ve had mine since launch. Opened it today to clean and it wasn’t nearly as bad as that
He forgot the most important thing!
Sony put intentionally 2 holes on the playstation 5 where you have to put the vacuum cleaner where the dust is sucked out of the playstation 5.
Watch the offical PS5 teardown from sony where they explain this
@@danielweiss4498 why did you comment this more than once?
@@danielweiss4498 what if your console is dusty like this one, I wonder if those holes really work. I don't think it would get the dust out the fan, but maybe just the dust internally in the console that you can't see
Wow that was pretty rank , I use a dust cover on mine made massive difference after 5 months use
What dust cover do you use? I've only been able to find one on amazon and it's very overpriced, in my opinion
@@honeygrunge8965 just use a dish towel if you have it laying down, works perfect
Don‘t use anything. Just clean it every once in a while…
If you use a dust cover, you have to remember to take it off every time you turn the PS5 on...
A dust cover doesn’t prevent dust getting sucked in by the fans.
Mine was like that after the first 3 months of its release (uk day1 owner) and well cleaned it last night and mine made yours look spotless I was absolutely mortified
This is awesome, It's like brand new again.
mine looks like that in 2-3 months lol
You need to start dusting your home more. Better breathing quality and electronics last longer, trust me!
I did the same thing but the disk part was filld by dust
Just wait until you pull out the fan and get down into the heat sinks. Holy moly!
I’ve had mine since release and it also runs 16hrs a day, every day. Never missed a beat, but it’s more efficient than my hoover.
I don't even have one yet.. time to learn how to clean it once I get one
bet the heat sinks look worse then the fans!
Not sure why consoles don’t just have a washable air filter that you can pull out like a central air filter. Just clean the filter and put it back in. No dust inside on your components or heat sink clogging anything.
I’ve had mine since release and changed plates twice without seeing that kind of dust. This dude my be running an animal hospital
I JUST cleaned my PS5 10 minutes ago and see this lol. Mine was about 18 months old too, but not as dusty as this one.
My like makes it 2k , you forgot to clean rear side ( it will be most dusty !!)
What vacuum did you use? I'd like to know for when I vacuum mine
Same
Dyson
WHICH ONE???@@brianwashington2449
same!!
Did mine today after 14 months and it was awful it lives on a shelf close to my ceiling so no suprise there. Didn’t take it apart as didn’t want to void warranty I just carefully hoovered the inside and wiped it down runs much cooler now 😁
you can use the little holes on the sides (not the ones for the panels, the flat holes) to vacuum the internal dust out as well
Pro tip, put your PS5 in the horizontal position.
My PC has had 20 times
More dust and ran fine lmao
Any specific gaming vacuum required or is it fine to use the same one that is used for household cleaning?😊
Don't use a vacuum at all. It creates static and it can damage hardware. Just a bottle of compressed air will do fine
Lmao there are little tunnels inside you need to clean out too they get clogged just a PSA to take the fans out and compress air in as well
Wow my console is from last February 2023 model and i just clean it today and its not even this close to Dusky just wow.
I just cleaned mine after about 15 months and mine had like no dust really at all
I heard that vacuuming electronics isn't great because of esd, is that true?
Well I quess it would be better than leaving the dust to build up my friend 😂
Make sure you take the fan out, and vacuum down inside along the vents, and heat sink, or you'll have overheating problems eventually.
Can you please share what vaccum cleaner you had used?
Fun fact: as soon as he opened it and revealed the truth, my video automatically jumped to 144p.
Lol. Chill YT, i'm not that sensitive.
I recommend also taking it apart down to the heat sink since dust can sometimes cake up deeper than just than fan. Also, remove and clean the fan.
This sh*t is so satisfying to watch!😂
two word, air purifier.
you breath more air than a PS5. Think about your lungs.
Not my PS5
My ps5 lives in the living room, high traffic area, near the front door. I have 2 air purifiers in the area, and it still gets dusty. Every time my dog shakes inside, dirt and hair go flying. The ps5 does get dirty. Thankfully, I dont have carpet and have a roomba that vacuums daily. The console in my gameroom doesn't get very dirty because it's not a high traffic area and the dog and cat don't go out there.
Home air purifiers are snake oil
Here's a tip: keep a good air purifier in your gaming space.
I’ve had mine the same amount of time and I opened it up to just do general clean. My ps5 was no where near as dirty as that lol. Just a little bit of dust 😂
Facial cleanser helps, but you need to clean all the fins in the spinning thing
I'm on the third floor of an apartment. I don't play my PS5 a great deal, but I've had it for 18 months and have not cleaned it until today, when I installed an M.2 SSD. I did have some dust buildup on the outside top, which I just wiped off. Very little dust inside, none really all that visible - I just took a blower to it.
Congratulations on the beautiful work brother. God bless you always man. I subscribed to the channel, and left the link. Hugs from your friend here in Brazil, Jailson Santos.
My ps5 fan was super dirty so I gave it a bath and surprisingly it’s still working and cooling the ps5 fine 😂
Gotta open it up and get inside the fan too. It collects a lot of dust in the fan blades as well as inside.
The accent made me think it was Korg from Thor movies 😂
Does not matter how clean you think you are unless you live in a static free and dust free environment you’re going to see it looking like that in about 1 to 2 years. Just done mine yesterday after a year and the fan had a slight layer but was minor. Heat sinks seemed clean.
Fixed my fan noise thanks man
