- Reading Detective Curriculum Review | Reading Comprehension Workbooks for 3rd-12th Grades
I am using 3 different levels of The Critical Thinking Company's Reading Detective with my kids ages 11-15 this year. I was looking for something to help my children with their reading comprehension skills, as well as literary analysis practice. In this video, I will give you a look inside all four books in this series so you can see the reading levels for each book, as well as what specifically each book covers.
*Giveaway only good for shipping within the lower 48 US states.
Additionally, this month I have been sharing a lot of the language art curriculums that we are using in our homeschool, so check out this playlist to see more: studio.czcams.com/users/playlistP...

Have you ever used the Reading Detective series? What did you think?
hi!
I am 57 and I love doing these! I find great books like these and more from Amazon and from the homeschooling community on CZcams you gotta keep your mind good!
Thanks for sharing this information. 😊 I think we’re using this books this year.
Wonderful! I hope it works out well for you!
Just purchase the blue one, thank you for the flip!!
You are welcome! I hope it works out well for you and your child.
I am currently homeschooling my Kindergarten, 1st, 7th, and 8th grade grandchildren. My 7th and 8th graders would really benefit from this level. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks for stopping by! You are in the drawing.
Thank you for this video, I have been looking at these to add comprehension. My kids ages are 9 and 11
Perfect! You have entered to win a copy :)
Great Video! I homeschool my 12 year old granddaughter. We started using Reading Detective last year with A1....so B1 is on my list to buy for next year!!....she loves Reading Detectice paired with Fix it Grammer.
Perfect! You are in the drawing to win!
Thank you for the detailed flip through. Im currently homeschooling a 7 and 11 year old. If the giveaway is still open I would love to use with my oldest next year!
It is! Thanks for entering!
We discuss what my kids read and I push them on details!!! The front pages are needed, I used to skip them but glad I don’t anymore!!!
Right! Super necessary!
Hi Davene! My sons are 13 and 14. I’ve been eyeing this curriculum for my 8th grader for a while now. He struggles with comprehension skills, so I’d love to be entered for the drawing. Thank you for the flip through of these books!
Great! I think this would be perfect for him. You are in the draw!
@@CalmintheChaosHomeschool Thank you! 🙏🏼 😊
I would love to win this book for my kids! They are 12 and 15 ❤
Thank you for entering!
Oh this looks like a lot of what is in Essentials in Literature too but less overwhelming. I have kids ages 12, 8 and 6. Would love this for my 7th grader!
Awesome! You are entered to win!
This was great. One of our kids is using the lowest level this year but because we have so many other resources, reading detective gets ignored unfortunately. Hopefully we’ll pick it back up maybe summer? Glad y’all like it. I like that the program helps the student which paragraph, which sentence but at the same time it discourages us to work through it. lol.
I really think I’ve seen improvement on some of my kids in regards to being able to back up what they are putting down as answers (and we have LA testing today… so we’ll see if this translates into doing better with their reading comprehension portions). 😅
@@CalmintheChaosHomeschool I’m sure it’s helpful training. I’m encouraged to stick with it.
My kid is 13 this would be so good to win. Thanks.
Thank you! You have entered the drawing to win!
Oh my gosh! What a kind giveaway. This would be such a blessing for my family. My son has really struggled with reading and reading comprehension. I have been eyeing this curriculum for a while now, but our budget has been super tight this year.
How old are the kids you are homeschooling? I hope you are able to get everything you need to feel like you have a successful homeschool year!
@@CalmintheChaosHomeschool my daughter is 5 years old and my son is 10 🙂 The Good and the Beautiful has been kind to us. I just wish they had a little more reading comprehension, but we work with what we have available. There are free resources online that I have implemented as well. Everything from the Critical Thinking Company looks very well thought out. I’m very grateful for your in-depth review! It’s hard sometimes to fully understand how a curriculum works by the few samples the companies provide, it’s wonderful and super helpful to have your channel available to show us a better look inside.
@@CalmintheChaosHomeschoolI was still watching the video when I commented. The 25% off coupon code is a wonderful discount!
@@kristensantos11 awe! Thank you so much. That is my hope with these videos. I try to show what I wish I could see! lol I do love that the Good and the Beautiful does what they do for the homeschooling community. Such a blessing. Also, if you haven’t yet, take a look at Easy Peasy All-in-one, Under the Home, and Amblesideonline for more free curriculum.
My daughters are 8, 10 and 12, and I’d love this for my 12 year old!
Great! You are entered to win!
Our children are in grades 2, 4, 6, 8, and 12. I’d love to use this with my older kids for test prep! I’m not on IG and rarely on FB, but I ❤ your CZcams videos!
Thank you! You are in the drawing!
Hi! You have won the free workbook! Please email me at calminthechaoshomeschool@yahoo.com to connect!
Teaching a Kindy kid here and having fun learning to read 😀
LOL! Probably not the workbook for your child right now. But someday! Have fun with the beginning reading stages :)
Our children are 6, 9 and 14 and I am very interested in being entered into this giveaway.
Great! You are entered!
Oh, these look like a good one. We are great in the reading part, too, but struggle with answering the questions from what we have read.😅 Looks like A1 will fit us!
I have a 7yo and an 8yo. I think B1 will be too advanced!😂 Great flip-through, Davene!
I even wish I started at beginner with my oldest one.
I’m homeschooling a 13 year old daughter and would love to win this!
Great! You are in the drawing!
My kids are ages 12 and 14. I would like to be entered. 😊. I really appreciate this video. I’ve been looking at buying reading detective but wasn’t sure whether to go with B1 or RX. It was very helpful to see a bit of the inside.
So glad that it was helpful in making your decision!
My 3rd grader is using the Beginning level. At first it was challenging for him but now he is getting the hang of it. We are going slow. Only 1 per week so I don't think we will finish this year but will continue to use it next year
I think if I do end up using it again next year, it will definitely turn into a once a week thing. No need to rush this!
I would love to win the book! I have a middle schooler and 4 younger ones. My older one would be perfect for this!
