  • In today's homeschooling video I'm sharing what we're using for high school history. We've been using U.S. History Detective and I think it's the perfect amount of information without being too time-intensive or overhwleming, especially if your high school student is taking college classes like mine is.

    History was one of my least favorite subjects in high school but if I would've had this curriculum, I don't think I would've minded! What was your least favorite subject in school?

      Hello, I hope this is o.k to share, I am a History professor at a community college. I created a channel for my lectures and many homeschoolers have found it a useful free resources. Feel free to take a look. Thank you.

    We loved this this year as it was a requirement in our state. We didn’t have child write in it and we’ll resell it. Loved the color and short readings.

    I'm going to get them, but I will start with US History book 1 for my 6th 7th. And I will repeat on 9th. I found this by accident and I'm glad that I don't have to search for a great US History curriculum. Thank you SO much for this video❤!!!!!

    I was writing my own quizzes. That takes about an hour for just two pages of text. I just ordered this book and will review it. The big problem with most history curriculums is that they don't teach why.

    Would you make a video talking about things we could do in the junior high years to help pre pair a child to be able to get as many college credits as possible in highschool? I would appreciate that so much.

    • @aplacetonest
      @aplacetonest  Před 3 lety +1

      I've gotten that video request before but the hard part is that dual credit is different in every state so it's difficult to give general advice that would work for every student.

    Hi there, do you think I need both book 1 and 2 for a year or do you think I'm good with one book for tge whole year. Thank you for the video.

    What do you use for writing skills? Such as grammar, sentence structure, punctuation, etc??? Thank you love these videos.

      For high school language arts we really enjoyed The Good and the Beautiful's program. It includes grammar, writing, punctuation, spelling vocabulary, geography and art!

    Hello! Thank you for the review. Do you think this would cover and be enough to pass the CLEP test after the course?

    • @aplacetonest
      @aplacetonest  Před 3 lety

      Hi! I really can't say because I'm not sure what's on the CLEP exam for history but just to be safe, I'd recommend purchasing one of the CLEP history study guides.

  • @michellechannell1219

    Thank you for sharing. Would one book be per semester or year?

    • @aplacetonest
      @aplacetonest  Před 3 lety +1

      It could be either one. If you stop to do unit studies you could definitely stretch one book out for an entire year. Otherwise, I'd say you could complete a book each semester if you're doing a lesson each day.

    Thank you. I’m looking for something practical. I work full time and last year was my first time ever homeschooling my 9th and senior kids. It was tough! I need curriculum that is more independent since I won’t be home. What others do you recommend? Thanks in advance ❤️

    • @aplacetonest
      @aplacetonest  Před 2 lety +2

      I would look into Teaching Textbooks, BJU Press' distance-learning programs and possibly The Good and the Beautiful's high school language arts program.

    You mentioned that you have used different things from this company. By any chance have you done the vocabulary books with your girls?

    • @aplacetonest
      @aplacetonest  Před 3 lety

      No, it wasn't the vocabulary, it was their logic workbooks.

  • @antisocial.skeleton6901

    Does this have tests with it? And would this be spaced out for there to be one book per semester?

    • @aplacetonest
      @aplacetonest  Před 3 lety +1

      It doesn't have tests but it does have section reviews that you could count as a test. You could do one book per semester if you weren't stopping to do any related unit studies.

    Since this is a secular curriculum, what did you think about the perspective it had?

    • @aplacetonest

      I didn't read every lesson but from I could tell, it didn't seem overly-biased in any one direction.

  • @libertycoffeehouse3944
    @libertycoffeehouse3944 Před 7 měsíci

    Well, when you showed me the sections I was able to see that the book is teaching establishment history. Tax Free Foundations changed our history so Americans would be willing to surrender US sovereignty in favor of one world government. Based on the sectional outline, I would not recommend that book. Homeschooler parents are just teaching establishment history.

  • @TakataScience

    This sounds horrible. Slimming down and abbreviating history is irresponsible.

    • @mnm4242
      @mnm4242 Před 3 lety +4

      Irresponsible? Don't you think that is a little dramatic. So it's always better to not cover as many things but in greater depth? You could argue that is irresponsible also. Getting an overview big picture has its advantages.
