Kouri Richins and Eric Richins were married for almost a decade, until Eric tragically passed of an overdose in 2022. A year later, Kouri Richins released a book on dealing with grief. However, it would ultimately be determined that Kouri had allegedly poisoned her husband, all because he was cutting her out and didn't want to buy a house. And this was not the first time...

I wonder if she's going to write a new book now... "How to explain to your children that you murdered their father".
Best comment in this thread! Snorted with laughter!!
“Ya know” it.
And she’ll have to throw in that afterlife thing, you know?
Good idea, except this time the proceeds will likely go to her kids or her deceased husband family (providing she is found guilty and there being any sense of justice).
"How I Killed Your Father" .......those poor kids.....
This lady is the kind of person that will steal your wallet and then help you look for it !!!
That's hilarious AND the perfect analogy to this Story!! 😉
My sister is super messed up, she once stole her roommates cat when they were moving out and then helped her look for the cat! She kept the cat! YEARS passed before her ex roommate found out thru FB and called the cops. The cat was returned. My sister is batshit crazy and we are no longer in contact.
@@blydnhvghn Whoah... that's messed up
Sorry... SHE is NOT a lady.
that cracked me up lol
I couldn't help but chuckle when she said, "we couldn't find a book for our situation." She's not wrong. I suppose there isn't a large market for children's books about death, written from the killer's perspective 🤦♀️
I applaud you for that post!!! When I heard her say that I thought it was such a obliquitous remark.
Underrated comment
The title would be: " Daddy's only Sleeping" .
it gave me the chills when she changed that from "we've obviously never been through this to "my kids have never been through this" made me wonder if she HAS been through this outside of this murder.
😂😂😂
She also threw a party the day after she offed him. Never told anyone there he had passed. She was celebrating the fact that she closed on that huge mansion she bought that he didn’t even want her to buy!! Then his family showed up and told her she wasn’t getting anything in the will (they had a prenup I believe) and she attacked his sister. This woman is truly psychotic and evil. I hope her kids are ok 😢
Do you think they held a family tournament style *rock paper scissors* over who got to break the news?
I bet she tried keeping a calm demeanor but her text messages to her lover were probably the angriest messages ever❗️
Oh shit, she nuts
Went to the Lori Vallow School of Mourning
She's really the book definition of evil. She took away a lovely father from those 3 little boys for money. Incredible stuff. This call for DP without doubts. What a scumbag..Even going on tv...Madness
the fact that she didnt even know they had e prenup, maybe she will use it to claim insanity defence lol
You forgot to mention she threw a party _the day after her husband died,_ and didn't tell the guests he was dead. Her husband's family showed up at the "party," told her she wasn't getting jacksh*t from the will, and she attacked his sister. Even now, _from prison,_ she's arguing through her attorney she's entitled to her late husband's estate. Truly, a fine example of Humanity in its purest form.
😳 wow, just wow.
It's like she wanted to be caught.
Oh my goodness. What a Cow😕
i like to call her Lori Vallow Jr.

Not to victim blame but I'm SO TIRED of people saying they don't want to get a divorce because then the kids will grow up in a broken home. NEWSFLASH you're already raising them in a broken home if you hate your spouse, fight all the time, or are trying to literally murder each other
Family therapist here and 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Absolutely yes! 👏🏼
im not sure that fighting and murdering are the same thing
That's why they used a comma and said "or are trying to....."
Cool, now say the same thing about a woman killed by her husband.
I'll wait.
There was a middle aged woman at my church from when I was a kid. She had like six husbands in the past and all of them had died. Not joking. I knew two of them and they seemed like normal healthy middle age guys. She got so much sympathy from everyone for how hard her life was, and one time when I joked in private with my brother that she probably was killing her husbands, I got scolded and grounded. Looking back it's like...there's just no way that they all died of natural causes, statistically speaking. Very creepy.
That's crazy. Yea female privilege goes a long way my friend.

The 'you know' bit was hilarious.
I was really confused with how she talked and said 'we' looked for books to help us, but 'we' couldn't find anything and so 'we' decided to write 'our' own.
The fact that she also tried to capitalize on her kids’ grief, just takes this to a whole other level. She’s a sicko..
My wife has $275K life insurance policy we bought as an investment and I changed the beneficiary to HER daughter, just so there would not be any horseshit like this story in our relationship. Of course neither of us is batshit crazy.
This woman, everything from her background to her demeanor (oh and the fact she killed her children's father) screams complete psychopath

@@fritzbasset8645 that's awesome! But yes the kicker here is you guys are not batshit crazy and are wise
Omg after the “ya know” segment and Lmao, I can’t believe she says that sooo much! Great content!
Moral of the story is " if your wife has tried to kill you twice LEAVE HER or eventually she will succeed "
Ya Know lol
if your wife has tried to kill you ONCE leave her 😊
Or at least stop eating or drinking anything they prepare.
Tried to kill him twice and he stays with her........Maybe he wanted to be murdered?
Literally if my other half tried to kill me ONCE - and I lived thru it- it would be over!
Immediately .
Wow, better to have a dad with his own place than no dad at all, my heart goes out to the family, especially the kids.
One of the things I've never understood about this story (I've been following it since she was arrested) is how do you stay with someone who you're pretty convinced is trying to poison you.
You know a murder story is batshit insane when Mike releases the extended edition of the insurance dance.

Imagine being someone who got that book for your children, was genuinely helped by it, and then saw this story.
It would be one of these moments: 😱

I lost my common law wife as such less than one year ago. From my personal grief over her loss, I can say with fair certainty, this woman didn’t love the man. I still can’t talk about how much I miss my lady, without my eyes getting wet. Just writing this is bringing a tear to my eye.
This is coming from a man who’s considered very stoic and known for not getting emotional. I can’t believe one damn word that came out of her mouth regarding her husband.
❤ Love to you. I'm sorry.
I'm sorry for your loss, and I definitely agree with you, I've lost several family members (none even close to being a spouse/partner) and even years later I still get emotional and teary eyed when I talk about them being gone. She clearly has a heart of stone and didn't have any sort of deep care for him, most definitely not any love.
🙏
I'm so sorry for your loss. Please accept my deepest condolences.
@@jezistar1881 thank you. July 31 will be the first anniversary of her passing. I'm not looking forward to it. I keep telling myself that I'll start feeling better eventually. Sometimes it feels like eventually will never come.
I heard the late Queen Elizabeth use the term Annos horriblous, the horrible year. She was referring to the year Lady Spencer got killed in the car crash.
I'm hoping July 31 will be the end of my Annos Horriblous. I don't want to go into explaining everything but just let me say 8 days after my love had left, I found myself in ICU with no will to live. Not saying I really wanted to die, hard to explain, I guess I just really didn't care one way or the other. By a strange string of events I ended up on the phone with my little brother's wife, who is also one of my dearest closest friends. It occurred to me that should I die, she'd be devastated. That short chat with her changed everything. Suddenly I wanted to live and it's truly amazing how fast I started to heal. Not mentally but physically. If not for the fact that the hospital's phone ended up in my hand and my bro's phone number being one of only two I actually remember because he's had that same number since before cell phones were common. If not for that, I probably wouldn't be writing this.
Sorry for going on so long. It's a subject that I rarely talk about but probably should if ya get my meaning. Thanks again.
She should write another book called "Mom, how far away is prison?"
Fookin' "A"
😂
For those curious how she reacted, I found this on KPCW:
It was then that Eric’s sister told Kouri she was the trustee, suggesting Kouri had no right to get into the safe. Eric made his sister, not Kouri, the beneficiary of his $500,000 personal life insurance policy without his wife’s knowledge.
Prosecutors say Kouri was “enraged,” and punched her sister-in-law in response. She was subsequently charged with assault and pleaded no contest to a class B misdemeanor.
Thanks :)
Wow! What a scumbag of a human being I hope she rots slowly in those cold cells.
Why did she punch her ?!!! She's such a horrible human being. And that creepy book... I hope it's no longer for sale and unavailable.

I don't understand how people can be so messed up, and look at the person every day and share moments together (kids) and then wipe them from existence the next moment 😢
The part of this story that breaks my heart the most is that none of this would've happened if Eric's first wife didn't die in that car accident. Her death was actually his death sentence too
I know I thought the same thing.
None of this would have happened if Eric divorced Cory. He didn't think of the possibility of his kids growing up without him.

@@henrysmith180 Hate to tell you but men (especially these days) have been raised for some time to see themselves as completely useless. We're all supposedly toxic, and no woman need no man, we're evil, blah blah blah. It's to the point where likely the majority of men see themselves as worth nothing beyond the amount of money they can provide the family. So he may have been fine mentally with dying, knowing that the kids would get it all. So be assured that society and all the overly progressive types have just as much blame in this when these situations happen. This is proven with the fact that more men are willing to get in and stay in abusive relationships (just like the one this man was in). It's absolutely sick.
@henrysmith180 Exactly. He was an idiot I'm sorry to say. He thought it was better to stay so his kids didn't come from a broken home, than to leave and not have their dad killed
The fact this guy didn't immediately break it off and call police after the second poisoning attempt is mind boggling
He was still probably getting a little poohder off of her.
Very sad that he lost his life and the children lost their father. But seriously, he must have been weak and indecisive.

It's just really sad that he stayed because he didn't want his kids suffering from a broken home, but I know those babies would've preferred that to having to live life without a father 😔. A "broken home" is always better than going through the loss of a parent, especially in this manner. Now they have no one. What a horrible woman

I used to know a guy who had the same tic - but 10 times worse. He, at least, was aware of it and would make fun of himself for it. 😅
After 2 ( alleged) attempts at poisoning him , it is hard to understand why he would accept anything off her again.
If I had to live with her I would ask outright for the damn poison.
You know.
The reason is, he wasn’t very bright.
I think that’s an important question in this case. Maybe she was the go between in getting him drugs, but did she really poison him? I think this could go either way.
The power of blind love I guess
My husband passed away last year and the crippling pain both me and my daughter have had to endure is horrific. Having to hold her while she cries about wanting daddy back every night and not knowing what to say or do to help her I can not imagine what kind of mother would put their child through that on purpose. Some people hit the “love lottery” when they find that special someone and, some people hit the “psychopath lottery!” This poor fella, seems to have hit the latter of the two .
What kills me from her interview/listening to her is that it feels like she's trying SO HARD to sound like she's grieving rather than being happy/excited about the attention/money/validation she's getting...but i still sense the joy/excitement in her voice.

Psychopaths don't feel emotions. They've learned to mimic them.
I'll never understand how people think staying together in a toxic, abusive and in this case murderous relationship is somehow better for the children than to divorce and have a broken home. And I hate the term "broken home." Sometimes parents breaking up "fixes" the home.
I'm right there with you. My parents are divorced, and it was a blessing. They were so obviously unhappy. Not abusive in any way; just no longer happy together. Children can tell. Get the divorce because you aren't protecting your children from anything.
exactly. divorced and an alive father is a much better idea
The home is broken as soon as a parent dies any way, right???
If the father was alive and divorced this women he could be there for his children now. It was only a matter of time before she would succeed to poisoning him by staying. Karma did catch up with her, just the audacity to capitalize on his death and steal her children's father and in her head try to make it right through a grief book shows how twisted this women is.
I agree!!!!
Even a tiny amount of fentanyl can be deadly. If there was blood around the lips of Eric, Kouri might well have gotten a lethal dose just from trying to give him CPR/mouth-to-mouth. So it follows that the cops knew she hadn't tried to help him that way, because she'd likely be dead too!
It's not that potent or effective, it's strange how they didn't do other tests to figure out whether he actually was a chronic user though, there are tons of chemical markers and residue that distinguish a one time poisoning and just an accidental overdose after established history of use
Thank goodness she got caught on this, because the next thing she was going to do, I’m certain, is get life insurance on those kids. 😢

The phrase “you know” more than someone would normally say it is what a liar uses to get approval. They’re getting the people they are telling the story to agree with them and to believe them.
Yes, adding a false narrative is their solution, sadly .
The life insurance dance is what I needed today 😂❤🎉
She did not think through the deed very well. Multiple life insurance policys taken out all at the same time should be a huge red flag. Cannot believe he accepted that drink.

And, you do not reply, “No, I don’t know” every time your wife says, “You know”? That’s how our mother cured us of that!
Those poor kids and the trauma they will live with is what is most heartbreaking
I can see wanting normalcy for your kids, but staying with a wife that you 100% know is trying to kill you is insane
"I want some Michael Jackson kind of stuff."

Mike was in rare form on this one😂😂😂
I can’t understand the level of greed this lady had. Most people would be thrilled and grateful to have the kind of life they were living. Thanks for another awesome video Mike! 🙌
That’s the thing about greedy people like this, there is no such thing as enough. Will never be able to understand that mindset.
Agree, it doesn't make sense. Working as a team the both of them could afford an affluent lifestyle for the whole family. She had it good.. and most undeservingly. Those poor kids have lost both their parents.
I don’t know why, and I can’t explain it but I have this overwhelming feeling she should be let off the hook and should face no punishment for this crime.

You about summed that up nicely.
More insane was him knowing your wife is trying to kill you and he still with her and eating or drinking anything she gave him.
I lived through 2 divorces as a kid. A “broken home” is way better than one parent murdering the other.
If you’re seriously considering divorce, the home is already broken.
Psychopath/sociopath is known to say "you know" for the pause during speech. The emphasis of pointing out her saying "you know" a lot during the interview shows that she is indeed a psychopath/sociopath, which points to her as the murderer.
I can't believe she actually went through with it after failing twice and failing to change the life insurance policy... "You know?"
She thought she had been/remained successful with the change.
I can't even talk about my cat who passed away last year without tears in my eyes, and she talks about her dead husband like a good friend just went on a trip in the mountains....

Don’t project how you handle emotions onto others please. It can do a lot of harm
@@finalfantasy84 Individual aspects alone are never striking. Someone can lie during an interview about a murder case and still not be the perpetrator. Someone can not mourn and still not be involved in the death. Or grieve without tears, yet be sad.
But it is the sum of these variations that make up the whole picture. And it's the way, the almost casual way at times, of mentioning the man's death in dialogue that I found fascinatingly cool. It's not an indicator, I just found it chilling. For me ;)
@Phil Mellow very true....my emotions are typically delayed. I had a partner who berated me because of this. It was abusive. She'd boast about how easy she could cry.
To have your first wife die, only for YOU be murdered.... He really thought he got a second chance on life. So, so tragic.
I fell asleep with this playing (I do most nights lol) I woke up at the part where she just says "ya know" over and over again. It was so confusing, I thought I was having a stroke or something at first and then questioned if I was actually awake. It was a trip! 😂
Ya know this was a crazy story, ya know. Great job covering it ya know.
.......ditto
Now her kids have no parents, that's the saddest part about this, these kids are the ones who suffer. I'm sorry also for the family of Eric, I send my prayers and condolences 🙏💞
All these types of stories. The poor children. Left with no parents and years of trauma. :(
The kids having their mom out of their lives is not a loss. They will understand that better in time.
@@bobbybattlelyon8923 In time, they may also learn who their real father is... likely AT LEAST 1 of them is from the milkman.
@@bobbybattlelyon8923 I wonder what they'll think of their dad.
It's sad. They'll never see either parent again.
That "ya know" section had me rolling! great video Mike.
The life insurance music always brightens my day 😂😂
Must be so scary living with someone who you loved, plotting to murder you.
Not scary enough to move however. Very irresponsible, imo…..look at your kids now.
Even scarier when I’m in your walls doing that exact thing
My wife once asked me "if you could, would you want to know how you're going to die?" I said no, so she said "OK, forget I mentioned it then".
My marriage fell apart in late 2019 and my ex and I were stuck living together during lockdown... She had untreated BPB and used to absolutely blow up over literally anything. Would threaten to kill me in my sleep for flushing the toilet too loudly for example. Had to spend months sleeping with my bedroom door locked, keeping an eye on my food, and calling to police on a weekly basis over physical abuse towards myself and our pets, and death threats. Meanwhile I was working, paying all the bills and trying my best to let her stay until the housing situation calmed down. Eventually she exploded over our cats meowing too loudly, attacked them, and I had to restrain her until the neighbors called the police. She was removed from the apartment and I haven't seen or spoken to her directly since. She made bail and fled the state. I live in constant fear to this day
All he had to do was stop eating her food or drinking her drinks, I mean obviously he should have left her. But dam I wouldn't touch anything see made. I'd be eating in my Donald's daily.
The “you know,” is basically a check to see if her story makes sense.
Classic narcissistic check for approval.
My mom used to say that ppl who say you know or you know what I mean a lot they’re looking for validation in situations that should already be understood, and because they’re lying they don’t know if they sound believable.
It killed me when she said it before explaining the 'three C's', like we have any idea what they are, you know
Aw they said it was so nice the way she touched the lives of others..she touched his and took it away from him!
Really enjoy how well researched his cases are and the way he tells the story makes it enjoyable to watch
Never tell an abuser u are leaving them. Rip Eric 💔
True. Just go. Even if you have to leave your belongings behind. You can always buy new things but not if you're dead.
Agree totally. They should teach this stuff in schools.
When she was like “I’m not religious the book isn’t religious but I mean as long as you believe in heaven, right?” I was like… wait what?
That was probably the only true thing she said about herself in the entire interview...
I am a widow and find her completely disgusting. I can't even understand why he didn't leave her the 1st time. At least she is arrested now.
Her brother just did an interview on GMA and said 'Kouri took the kids to church every single week without fail'. But Kouri says in this TV interview "I'm not religous."
😂😂😂😂 I'm sooooo glad someone brought up how much she says "ya know". I couldn't listen to her for a second without wanting to scream every time she said it.
Can't wait for her next book, "If I Did It"
So on the money!
the glove didnt fit
And the sequel, “Ya Know.”
She could get advice from OJ
Or "Mommy's in Jail"
Mike I've said it before and I'll say it again. Your videos are absolutely perfect, informative, educational, light-hearted yet respectful of the victims. Hope you continue thriving!
I believe she was being completely honest when she stated she was new to reading books..
"I wouldn't kick it out of bed for farting" Mike's Utah review 😂😂😂 Every episode he manages to make me snort laugh! Such a gem, love him.
Damn. I always wanted to be an author. Never considered killing anyone to jumpstart my career. This woman is beyond psycho.
It’s never to late to start
I’m just shocked to learn that you can literally pay someone to write a book for you.
When the truth of this came out I just shook my head and could only think of the sheer dramatic irony. The book with it's theme and then it turns she did it all along.
This made tears stream down my face, which almost never happens. Thank you for the telling. Sending the piece of my heart this claimed out to the family & loved ones.
This happened to me. I was given an overdose of Heroin by my ex, i woke up on the floor, and paramedics had to bring me back to life. Crazy story
That's unfortunate that you made it.
I would pay to see her disappointment when she didn't get anything from the sale or policies, etc. But I want to be able to teleport in at the right moment and yell out "JUSTIIIICE!" before teleporting back out.
You know this pisses me off.. I just lost my husband and father of my children last month after a not so long battle with Huntington s disease... He was also 39 ...I would give anything to have him back.. Not for me mostly but for my kids too... She's evil..
sorry for your loss, hope you and your family are able to come to peace with it
I'm so sorry for your loss 💕💕
I’m sincerely sorry for your loss. Please accept my sincere condolences. May God Himself, comfort and sustain y’all. Bendiciones. 😭😭😭😭🙏🏽💙
I'm so sorry for your loss. 😔💚
My best friend's husband has Huntingtons disease and it is heartbreaking to watch this progress. My heart goes out to you and your family. Wishing you all better days because you deserve to be happy again ❤🩹
If you hadn't mixed her "you knows", I think I would have gone insane. Thank you. 🎉
"A big franchise of.. you know!"

“A drink with a wink”. Golden 😂
What baffles me is why after being suspicious of your wife poisoning you would you continue that connection? Why was he still there taking her food and drinks if he knew she was poisoning him.
He didn’t want his kids growing up in a broken home, well now he’s dead I think that home is shattered
