He killed the husband and investigated his one murder to aproach and have the girl. He put false evidence to accuse a gangster of the crime. He was suspected by other cops and a writer that all got killed. After there's a story of another gangster having proofs of the girl wishing her husbands death and blackmailing her. That made him be suspected of the murder and her of comanding it. And the members of the family of the first gangster kidnaped the step daughter of the second for him to confess being the killer so the first one would be released. Simple... Ugh... Ok, just smoke another one and watch MIB. 🤪

Leslie Hope's acting is marvellous here. So many scenes where hardly anything changes facially, yet one knows exactly what's going on inside. "Less is more", actors are often taught, and this is a prime example of the truth of that.

Thank You for sharing a dramatic and gripping movie. I have been a Rob Lowe fan since his Youngblood film as this isn't one my favorites though.
I am aware it's only a movie but it's hard to believe how an investigator falls madly in love to a victim's widow so instantly. The rest of the cast of actors and actresses played their roles very well. This flick did have a good storyline with quite an ending. Rating 7/10

A GREAT CRIME FILM WITH ALL THE ELEMENTS FROM GREED TO DESIRE.I LIKE IT BECAUSE IT IS NOT THE STEREOTYPE OF SUCH FILMS WHERE A WOMAN SEDUCES AN HONEST POLICEMAN AND IN THE END TRY TO KILL HIM TOO.
AND IT WAS DIRECTED EXACTLY IN THAT DIRECTION THAT THE WIDOW HAD HUSBAND KILLED.ONLY AT THE END OF THE FILM THAT OLD WRITER DISCOVERS WHO DID IT AND THAT THE REASON WAS TO WIN THE YOUNG WIDOW WHILE INVESTIGATING HIS OWN CRIME.
AND AT THE END WHEN HE WON HER WITH CRIME, THAT'S HOW HE LOSES HER AGAIN WITH CRIME.A TYPICAL STORY OF CRIME AND PUNISHMENT IN A SHORT TIME.
THEY SAY THAT MAN PLANS AND GOD SURPRISES US WITH HIS INTERVENTION.EXCELLENT TEAM OF ACTORS, SCRIPT AND DIRECTION. TODAY IT IS DIFFICULT TO FIND A FILM ACHIEVEMENT LIKE THIS THAT CARRIES A MESSAGE.GREETINGS FROM ZAGREB, CROATIA!!

And if you don't mind overbearing, nonstop music...there isn't much of a payoff here, for the 80+ mins.

Looks like they ran out of time or their money so they had to shorten the movie , hence the terrible ending.

Yeah, if Rob Lowe did it why did the wiseguys kidnap the kid? Who killed the second man and why?
@@binebum1 I think the gangster boss kidnapped the kid in order to force the kid's prospective step-father to make a false confession to the first crime [probably with a cash incentive too], just so that the gangster's cousin who had already been convicted would be released.
The thing is, no one [except Lowe] knew really who'd committed the first crime. The public and police bosses thought they knew. His colleagues, though, suspected that Lowe had framed the gangster's cousin. The gangster boss only knew that his cousin was innocent, and no doubt thought that his frame-up of the wife along with his selected hit man would seem credible, as well as getting the cousin off.
The second killing, of the posh novelist [not the Jew novelist whose funeral we saw later], is not so easy. It followed soon after that choice bit at the dinner party where Hope called him a 'fucking prick' [at 36:53], so was it Lowe with or without her complicity? Remember there'd been letters between her and the posh novelist planning or talking about getting rid of the husband, which Lowe found when investigating the novelist's murder, and then allowed her to burn, knowing that she'd be thus be safer; so perhaps Lowe killed him to make sure he'd never talk about the letters, which perhaps was on the cards because he disliked both Lowe and Hope.
Best I can do. The film could have made things clearer, certainly!
@@robwilde855 wow...thank you. Yep I can see the sense in all of that, but the second killing is careless, as it casts blame on the wife, that prized 'possession' Lowe wanted at all cost. It's an interesting story
