  • If you're trying to decide between eloping and having a traditional wedding, then this is the video for you!
A year ago I had my "dream" wedding with all my friends and family, and a month ago I renewed my vows in an elopement style ceremony/ experience. For this video I really try to put myself in the position of an elopement being the only wedding experience.
There are many special and beautiful aspects to both an elopement and a traditional wedding, and I thought it'd be cool to share my perspective.

My fiancé and I were going to have a 160 person wedding. Then we went back and forth on what to do bc COVID. Lol. We decided to have a small under 30 people wedding with social distancing and it all be outside. Family drama came shortly after. So now we are eloping on our day and not telling anyone after. 🤷‍♀️ It will be us, our dog, and our love.

Sorry to hear about the fam drama but I love that you're eloping! You guys will have an amazing time ❤️

Found your video mid-breakdown while deciding what to do about my wedding. You are right - there are so many pressures from outside forces that weigh down on the BRIDE'S decision. At the end of the day, it's up to me and what factors I decide to put importance on. Thank you for this video and for your perspective sharing both sides. I still am not sure just yet on what to do, but I will definitely think of what you said as I make my final decision!

I would love to “elope” after seeing friends plan their weddings, and losing one friendship due to the bride being insane. Traditional weddings over the years are starting to become circuses and what matters most gets lost in the hoopla in my opinion. I use the word elope loosely bc I would love to still have my mother and sister present, as well as my groom’s parents and siblings only, and there isn’t a big save the date announcement or engagement shoot. Just us planning our day privately and popping up married once it’s all said in done. I wouldn’t mind having a celebration reception 6 months to a year after the fact. Thanks for the vid, very insightful and good points for either options!

This was awesome, such a good breakdown of why elopements are the way to go :) I'm an elopement filmmaker/photographer in Colorado so obviously am a bit biased but definitely think being intentional about your whole wedding experience is so important. Thanks for making this! Great work

Thank you so much for sharing your personal experience and insight on having a traditional wedding and elopement. My fiance and I somewhat fantasize of eloping but sharing this moment with family and friends is also important. I'm so torn but you had great insight! Thanks!!!

Thank you for this! I am very introverted too, and the current circumstances are kind of a convenient excuse to not have family there with less guilt lol

See I’m in between cause I want that fairytale wedding but the way our banks is set up. Plus family drama is always a big issue for his family. Plus the price overall. Is overwhelming because we’re paying for everything alone 😩 like all the stress that comes with it will just take over and I feel like I won’t even be able to enjoy my wedding. I planned my own baby shower & we paid for it all & I was miserable planning the whole thing.

Im thinking of doing the same! Questions, were there any venues or restaurants near that location? For a wedding celebration.

So, my partner and I are thinking about eloping, and the same day afterwards having a reception with our families and friends, I just don't know if it would be odd or not. I know on my side of the family they feel a bit weird, like him and I are getting married over here, while they are over there (not right next to us lol but locally maybe like thirty minutes away type of deal) and that they should be apart of it. I'm never a people pleaser, but I am really torn. I feel like doing that is the right choice, we have talked about it, it would save money, it is what we are comfortable with, it allows us to be very intimate and vulnerable with each other, yet still celebrate after with the people that we love, but I am close with my family and care about what they think about this in particular.I just know that I don't want to elope one day and then wait months or weeks to do a reception later. I definitely feel a bit stuck.

This is such a tricky situation. I totally get wanting to get married alone and then having a reception. In the end I think for you it's gotta be the balance of what will make you happiest taking into consideration how the fam will feel and whether they can get over it. OR another option I just thought of for you: get married solo and then on the reception day hold a ceremony first with a friend or family member acting as the officiant :). That could work if the family doesn't mind and you don't mind repeating it?
