I just bought a quest 2 even with a 3 on the way. I never owned one before and I feel it’s better to try it out before investing even more into a new one. Also the fact I wouldn’t want to wait even longer for price drops and the initial release for 3. Not even to mention that 3 will have issues and probably won’t be perfect until a year or two after it’s release

Seems a lot of people did that. Apparently the 2 sold thrice what quest 3 did. I picked up the 2, enjoying the heck out of it.
I am super excited for the Quest 3, but I’m not going to lie I am very disappointed they decided not to add eye tracking so developers can take advantage of foveated rendering. I think this was a big mistake.

I'll definitely be getting a Quest 3 i love VR i don't need incredible graphics to enjoy VR just the stuff you can do in VR is enough for me. Hell if they took a bunch of old console games and brought them into VR like they did with RE4 id be happy with that.

PSA to people in the US the Pico 4 is getting released most likely in the US soon and is a good alternative upgrade to the quest 2 for pcvr, better lenses.
I bought a Quest 2 like 4 months ago knowing the Quest 3 was coming out. I paid another $50ish for a 2 year warranty at Best Buy that allows me to trade the headset in whenever I please and receive the MSRP value in the form of Best Buy store credit. This way I'll be able to 'trade up' to the Quest 3 and only pay the difference, which should only be a couple hundred dollars at most.
Doesn't it have to be defective to trade in and get that credit? I'm not sure how it works.
@@universe36 It 'should' be defective but they don't actually check. So you can make something up like "the headphone jack doesn't work" and they'll swap it out no questions asked

@@tajvirsinghossm Yeah it works. I did it with my $150 Xbox Elite Series controller to trade up for the $180 Elite Series 2 just a few yrs ago. Now that the price of the Quest is back down, you get the option of a brand new Quest 2 or the cash value in a store gift card.

Definitely going the Q3 route. I have the Q2 currently and won't be selling. I will still use it for friends and family.
As a current Quest 1 owner, and past owner of the old Gear VR that attached to my Galaxy phone back in the day, I'm patiently awaiting the Quest 3. :)
If Meta don't push release of more games and keep downsizing there won't be a Meta quest 3.

I just bought my own Quest 2 about 9 days ago even though my family already owns one (I wanted my own) and since I just recently built my own PC I can now do PCVR which is AMAZING. I think now all I have to do is just buy a new head strap for it and then it'll be fine and I'll wait for the Quest 4 for my next one. Thanks for the amazing video too!!
We'll definitely be getting a Q3. However thinking might hold off on initial release as I'm sure a flood of updates will come after the launch. I'm also curious if the Q3 will be able to support aftermarket hardware mods like headstraps. Still love my Q2. Have even done my own repairs to parts that have broken. So I don't think it'll go any where. Plus would be a great backup should something happen to Q3

I bought used one , 256 GB with upgraded strap (kiwi) and a Pro case for 335 all accessories included and a very clean unit .
Your last point was the best point for me. Buy a Quest 3 and keep your Quest 2 for other people to play. If someone comes over (or for people who live with you), you can play games with them instead of having to take turns.
Yeah my Q1 was a nightmare with the kids wanting to have a go all the time so I was happy when I got a Q2 and could just give them the Q1 and not have to worry about it getting broken etc

Half the size of Oculus 2 is a real game changer. That in itself makes Oculus 3 appealing. And if it also minimizes or eliminates fogging of the lenses when I workout that would be amazing.
Still on the Q1 myself, but the Pro seems a little excessive. Good chance I'll be picking up the Q3 on launch.
what is the focal distance for pancake? I like oculus headsets because of near around 1,5meters focal. Good for me poor eyesight lol

I still run an original Quest 2 64gb bought on launch and will continue to run it for as long as possible. I will be getting a used 128gb quest 2 for $200 or less if I can, but im never getting rid of my OG Q2 64gb.
In fact, I plan on buying a CV1 for $90-$100ish so that I can use it for full body tracking as well as using it for competitive beat saber.

I have a PSVR2 but the lack of games is a bummer. I also don’t find it to be very comfortable. I decided to buy a Quest 2 so I can play multiplayer games with my roommate with the PSVR2. I find the Quest much more comfortable to wear. I also decided the Quest 2 will stay the VR headset for exercise apps so if it gets damaged it’s not as financially painful.
I did the same. I bought PSVR2 and returned it after 3 days. There are not many games to play and they are also so expensive.
I''m still on the original and looking forward to number III. Hoping no more than $500.

I just bought a Quest 2 yesterday. I didn't want to wait for Fall since this is my first VR headset. I'm sure it would have been smarter for me to wait, but I was eager to finally experience VR. I also have a desktop rig that can handle AirLink, so I figured it would be worth picking up now.
It would have been smarter to buy a PSVR2. A lot smarter.
@Marc Bridgewater Hardly a fair comparison because the PSVR2 is reliant on the PS5, while the Quest 2 can standalone or be used with PCVR (wired or wireless). It's a lot more versatile, which is why I didn't go with a PSVR2.

@@FogHazard Versatility at way too much of a cost. Sorry, but the graphics when used untethered are simply horrible. VR is all about immersion, those Q2 graphics are so poor, I would sooner just play in flat 2d. The PSVR2 graphics are matching and beating very high end pc's with RTX 4090 graphics cards, in games like Saint and Sinners. Gt7, Reso Village and Horizon COTM look absolutely sublime on the PSVR2. You would have to have a monster of a pc rig, coupled with a headset far superior to the likes of the Quest 2 (or 3) to come even close to PSVR2 right now.
@@marcbridgewater1562 yes and you can play what? 5 Games? The rest are more or less Quest Games which are ported get slidly better shaders or not. I own PSVR2, Quest 2 and Pico 4. The Quest 2 is still my most used VR Headset to at the moment. I can not wait for Quest 3, even if I think that double Power is not enough to compare the next 2-3 Years.
The PSVR2 is not Comfortable as I thought it would be. I hope there will be a Headband in the Future, because it is slipping down over time(on my head shape) and the Lenses sit on my nose. I just use it for GT7, thats the only do able game for me. I played the Star Wars Demo and after 2 Years of freedom in Movement with Quest 2, I wrapped the Cable around my body. Not Funny! In Immersion the PSVR2 Is a huge step backwards! Immersion is no always Graphics!
Lets all sit on the couch and play VR... NO, not for me! At the Moment I play Horizon and it looks and feels fantastic, the controllers and triggers are a Huge plus and it is not as fast like some shooters. But I would never play a game like Pavlov on this device. The PSVR would be nearly perfect with a battery and a wireless solution. 4.5m Cable are not enough freedom for VR! It`s of course just my opinion an my way eperiencing VR. If you want to lazy sit on a couch, than the PSVR2 is of course the best Solution(Price).
Playing PCVR with the Pico 4 is the most crisp and sharp experience atm(besides the high end Headsets), even with wireless Connection over Virtual Desktop (with Wifi6). Half Life Alyx with a RTX2080 or 3070, looks superb(you don`t need a 4090 to rival PSVR2). And the Sweespot is much bigger as PSVR2. I can compare, I have them all.

I have a quest 2, but I’ve had it for so long and have used it so much that the controllers are breaking and the battery one mine is crap, even with a battery attached to it, I can only squeeze out at most a hour and a half. I’m thinking about buying a new quest 2 or a quest 3, but I do not know what to do
I own and still use the original Quest. It works well enough, but sooner or later will stop doing so in a non-user-fixable way. The specific things I'd like improved for my next standalone headset are: OS-level passthrough filters (I'm fine with black and white) so I can see my surroundings without being dependent on the specific app running (VR motion sickness doesn't seem to be a personal problem), and better handling of outdoors lighting - either sunlight or nighttime, I'm not picky. I want to be able to use more apps that require freedom of movement, and that'll have to be outdoors and probably at a time of day when I won't be bothering neighbors. The thing I absolutely want to keep: support for: sideloading. I don't have a desktop built yet and am not back into programming as a hobby, but I do not want to be even hypothetically locked out of writing my own apps for the future. The thing I can arguably dump if needed: a wireless network connection. VR hasn't matured enough for me to think it's worth trying to socialize on, I'm fine with having to load everything from a USB connection, and in the two years I've been using the Quest maybe one OS update has been useful with the rest just unwanted features adding system stress. Beyond all of the above, the Quest 1 is still just fine for my purposes.

@@bamlosers7795 Yes. I am aware of both the potential problems with damage to its sensors and that it just can't handle the light level in the first place. It also can't quite handle typical light levels outdoors at night with artificial lights nearby, while that won't damage it. Basically, it can't be used outdoors, and using it indoors negates any value to its being a wireless self-contained unit for me other than not needing a desktop to support it, which was fine during the pandemic when I didn't have the alternative of putting money towards a desktop. My original point was that my highest priority in deciding to buy a Quest 3 will be whether they've got it functioning outdoors, at least under specific conditions, being the one thing I need the Quest 1 wasn't doing.
@Dana Otken quest 3 can't go out door seeing as it has lenses, pancake lenses to be exact. You know that right?

...If you're asking whether I expect that when it's available and can be properly reviewed the Quest 3 will be a huge disappointment to me, yes, I do expect that. If you're instead saying I'm crazy or an idiot for either having unrealistic desires out of a VR headset or a loser for being in a position where that's actually what would make a VR headset more useful to me than the Quest 1 is, you're free to do so and I won't be offended. It seems like we've exhausted this topic, though.

When the quest has like a suit ypu put on as the controller that can track your hands legs and body position thats when ill upgrade. Or like gloves shoes and a belt maybe that way they could track your head hands hip and feet that wpuld be awesome. But i doubt this will be around anytike soon at a price point thats less than 1500 bucks. I just dont play vr ebough in the current form to buy new ones so untill they make a big leap ill still with my quest 2 and maybe when the 4 is coming out i sell my 2 and buy a 3..

I’ll wait for games. I still have Quest 2 just for PC VR, beat saber and a bit of mojo mode in Vader Immortal. The first Quest 1 came out with an outstanding list of games. Not the same with Quest 2. There were very nice games, but most of theme are available also on Quest 1. If there will be no games that will make a Quest 3 a good choice, no reason imo to leave Q2 for Quest 3. I am not talking about graphics, it’s not primary in VR and games in general, I am talking about content.
Just sold my Quest 2 to get the most amount of money from it and then waiting for the Quest 3. In the meantime i have my PSVR 2 to play with. I can't wait to try out all the new Quest 3, I just hope that the games i bought on my account will work on the Quest 3 as well.
I have a quest 2 and it’s really good but when the quest 3 comes I wanna see if the controller breaks because my quest 2 controllers and different, the right one is fine but the left one breaks when I drop it and I really don’t know why. Hopefully quest 3 controllers are cheaper than the quest 2 controllers because quest 2 controllers break easily

@@shuttzi9878 The Video does not mention these vr headsets if i remember right and told people to buy quest 2 or 3. At the moment its really hard to recommend anything, psvr2 is lacking games and tied to the expensive ps5 store, quest 2 is outdated, looks like a brick and is from meta, pico4 is from bytedance and is missing beatsaber (huge drawback as a standalone i think).
In the end i think for anyone with a gaming pc the pico4 is right now the best bet. Quest3 can be interesting but it is probably releasing for christmas (after meta connect on octoberr 11)
For anyone without a pc but having the ps5, psvr2 if you like the existing games.

Sold my quest 2 last month, i already miss vr but i think it's best to say the comfort of the quest 2 and the graphics really didn't make it for me. I mean i had it for 1 year but most of the time i felt it wasn't the most immersive so i guess i'll have to settle for another headset soon
persinaly i think if i dint have any vr ied wait till the quest 3 came out. wating a few month and knowing your new system wont be outmoded for a good few years atlest is rather nice feeling. also i really love the idea of ar and you really cant do ar on the quest 2 .

I have no knowledge relating to VR. After watching several reviews and tech people talk about them, I found you to be knowledgeable, candid, and forthright with your descriptions and relative information, So I figured I would jump in and ask your opinion! I am wanting to buy a VR headset for my wife, as she watches a lot of TV series and movies from her own collection of files, and she does not play games. I want to purchase something that is portable, yet comfortable, that she can watch while traveling as well as in bed, is the Oculus Quest 2 that you speak of both capable and worthwhile purchasing for this use, or would there be another recommendation that you would make? if as you say this is suitable and she takes to it, I could update her to the Quest 3 when released. As stated she doesn't play games, purely TV shows, and movies... Thanks in advance for your input!

So I am trying to use my new quest 2 device and I go to put it on and I see a code at the top and the headset on the screen I put the code in my phone and it keeps staying on the same screen in the headset but connecting to my app nothing else

Just got a lightly used Quest 2 for 200. It's worth it to me. An upgrade to PSVR. There are many things I do like about quest 2 and maybe leaning towards the quest 3 rather psvr2. Will decide once more info comes available

Definitely getting the quest 3 when it releases, I know that if sales are slow it may drop in price a couple/3 months down the line ( quest pro) and it may have quality control issues like the PSVR2 and it maybe better to wait a little while before buying but I've been so looking forward so much to the quest 3 that if they offer a preorder purchase I'll be there on day one😂

I'm excited for several reasons, for a start it has far greater power than the Q2 so eventually when games are developed for it, there will be better graphics and game play. Also the pancake lenses will be a great step up from the freznel lens in the Q2 offering far better clarity . It's also lighter which will be nice and a slightly smaller form factor which will reduce inertia when turning my head and therefore less strain on my my neck and head. Also of course this headset should continue to be supported for a good while after the Q2 isn't supported anymore. My only cons about this head set is that they didn't give it a greater FoV.

Thats because of taxes. It’ll probably be around 6500 - 7000 kr in sweden seeing as the quest 3 also will be taxed.

Depending on the games on PS VR 2, I might be getting the Sony product or nothing. My Q2 has been gathering dust since the end of 2021. No really A+ titles to play. Sure it was fun to play some of the games and check what VR is all about but I wouldn't buy it now.

I'm waiting to get a cheap, used Quest 2 - once the 3 hits.
My opinion is to go ahead and snag a Quest 2 if you want a 256 gig model... At 350, its a good value, and looking at all the shortages Quest 2 had, it'll be months before a Quest 3 is easy to purchase.

I have a quest 2 now and the kids have slowly been taking it over and I was thinking of purchasing a second one but now I'm just thinking of waiting for the quest 3 to come out and they can have the quest 2.😂

if im able to play my quest 2 games on the new quest 3, then I will buy at launch. If not, then I guess ill wait a bit.
I just wished the 256GB version of the Quest 2 was available; when I bought mine, I only got 64GB, so I have to uninstall games before I can play some of the newer stuff. Will definitely pick up the Quest 3.

Tbh I have a feeling they’ll keep the quest 2 around and at the same price , and have the quest 3 be at a even higher price point
