  • It’s been nearly 80 years since hundreds of Black West African soldiers who fought for France’s freedom against Nazi Germany during WWII were killed in cold blood by their fellow white officers in Senegal.
Here's the story of the #Thiaroye massacre hosted by Greek-Egyptian presenter Ahmed Ghoneim

Over a century and a half later, the unified German Empire had emerged as a major world power. In 1884, pursuant to the Berlin Conference, colonies were officially established on the African west coast, often in areas already inhabited by German missionaries and merchants. The following year gunboats were dispatched to East Africa to contest the Sultan of Zanzibar's claims of sovereignty over the mainland in what is today Tanzania. Settlements in modern Guinea and Nigeria's Ondo State failed within a year; those in Burundi, Cameroon, Namibia, Rwanda, Tanzania and Togo quickly grew into lucrative colonies. Together these six countries constituted Germany's African presence in the age of New Imperialism. They were invaded and largely occupied by the colonial forces of the Allied Powers during World War I, and in 1919 were transferred from German control by the League of Nations and divided between Belgium, France, Portugal, South Africa and the United Kingdom.

Actually, France and the West did all they could to hide or distort African history. Not only were black soldiers killed in Thiaroye, but also they were forbidden from taking part in the victory parade in Paris. France gave military parade outfits only to white soldiers to parade after the victory over Germany. They did not want people to see that black soldiers fought for France and contributed to the final victory.
When I was in Ayiti (Haiti), I understood through discussions with some of my brothers in the diaspora that the Africans sold to America and other places as slaves were reported by white historians as having been sold by Africans. While slavery was everywhere in the world and people were sold as slaves everywhere in the World at that time, the slave trade was forced upon Africans.
I asked my brothers in Haiti one question: "If all the slaves brought to America were sold by Africans, who sold King Behanzin of Dahomey who was brought to Haiti? What our brothers in the diaspora don't understand is that colonizers caputered Africans by force, including African Kings. The capture of King Behanzin of Dahomey was not an isolated case. King Samory Touré of Wassoulou (present day Mali, Guinea Conakry and Ivory Coast) was deported on an island near Gabon. He died there after fighting France for a decade. King Niamody Sissoko of Logo Sabouciré was the first king on the present territory of Mali to fall in war against the French. This happened on September , in 1800 if I am correct. This is why September 22 is celebrated as Independence day in Mali.
After King Niamody Sissoko, many other kings died, fled or committed suicide in the present territory of Mali. Even some chief of communities who did not accept kingdoms were killed. For example, Shekou Amadou of Ségou fled to his mother's village in Sokoto. Sokoto is now in present day Nigeria. King Firhoun of northern Mali (a Touareg King) was killed. King Babemba Traore of Kénédougou (present day southern Mali, southern Burkina Faso and northern Ivory Coast) committed suicide. Before the war began, he had enslaved the French envoy and marked him with the Senoufo marks. So, when he was sure to lose the war, he killed himself because he knew what the French would do to him if they captured him alive.
Mali was not the only exception. Kings, emperors and various types of chiefs were killed or deported in other parts of Africa. The West tried to picture the slave trade as whites coming to peacefully buy blacks as slaves. It is true that some Kings such as Samory Touré sold some slaves to the British to buy British guns and revese engineer them. However, the great majority, including Samory himself were capture by force and or in war.

And no historian said, that europeans came peacefully. Who comes peacefully to buy slaves? First think, then write.

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said:
"We were with the Messenger of Allah in the year of Khaibar, and we did not get any spoils of war except for wealth, goods and clothes. Then a man from Banu Ad-Dubaib, who was called Rifa'ah bin Zaid, gave the Messenger of Allah a black slave who was called Mid'am. The Messenger of Allah set out for Wadi Al-Qura. When we were in Wadi Al-Qura, while Mid'am was unloading the luggage of the Messenger of Allah, an arrow came and killed him. The people said: 'Congratulations! You will go to Paradise,' but the Messenger of Allah said: 'No, by the One in Whose hand is my soul! The cloak that he took from the spoils of war on the Day of Khaibar is burning him with fire.' When the people heard that, a man brought one or two shoelaces to the Messenger of Allah and the Messenger of Allah said: 'One or two shoelaces of fire.'"

When you meet the unbelievers, smite their necks, then, when you have made wide slaughter among them, tie fast the bonds; then set them free, either by grace or ransom, till the war lays down its loads. So it shall be; and if God had willed, He would have avenged Himself upon them; but that He may try some of you by means of others. And those who are slain in the way of God, He will not send their works astray.
