The consist that 734 has was also the one that was seen in All About: Fast Trains. I remember watching it when I was a kid and seeing 734 pulling those same passenger coaches in the same order.
Same thing for me! I watched it when I was a kid too! You’re right! The consist that 734 was pulling including the caboose, are exactly the same! Plus, this video takes place in the same time where the first part of the train video “All About: Fast Moving Trains” was filmed at after the intro!
No, I’m extremely disappointed with what they did to her bell! It sounds absolutely beautiful here. But as of the last time she ran before the inspection, the bell no longer swings!! and it has a different sound not in a good way. I wish they brought back the bell to what it is here!!!
+fmnut I have a question. Whatever happened to 734's original whistle that sounded quite haunting from when she first operated on the scenic railroad in 1992-93? Does the railroad still own it or no? Please let me know
The whistle was on the loco again in 2011. It is owned by the WMRY Historical Society and is not an original WM whistle as they claim. Although it sounds close, it is an IC 3-Chime that has a minor chip in the bell that gives it that "haunting sound". Hope this helps.
I believe at one point the whistle was being used on 2100 when it was temporarily in Washington state. czcams.com/video/v1hfhrTvr3s/video.html czcams.com/video/sgbGPFDoa0Y/video.html czcams.com/video/_pC8scazOM4/video.html
First one in the video was a hancock 3 chime off of a Western Maryland 2-10-0. Not sure about the second but the third is either another Hancock off a WM 4-8-4 or off a C&O Hudson.
The Alcos were leased from a private party. Not sure exactly why the lease was terminated, but the private party moved the Alcos to the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic upon termination. The GP30's were purchased directly by the RR as they tired of leasing power and wanted reliable units of their own. The GP30's were available at a bargain price since their relatively low horsepower AND turbochargers rendered them less desirable for shortline use than a GP7/9 rebuild or a GP38.

WMSR looked amazing back then! I've never seen 734 go so fast!
734 is becoming one of my favorite steam locomotives 🚂

12:51 is possibly the scene of 734 arriving at the station.
the star form All about fast trains.
Did you mean from? Also I used to watch that when I was little. I loved the whistle on it so much. And Strasburg 90's reading 6 chime.
Am I the only one who prefers this older version of 734? I prefer this version over the newer one with marker lights and gray smokebox.

That whistle sounds like SP 4449 on 734! And the other whistle sounds like 611 and 844 on 734 too!
The short whistling means it's actually Hoagie. Earl never ran 734, but I wish he would
Stefan Delp Earl also worked on the Cumbres and Toltec as well as the Durbin and Greenbrier. I met him when I rode in the cab of Climax 3.
OMG!!! Thank you so much for uploading this. it's been 20 years since I had a video of 734 with her in action.
AWESOME VIDEO! Loved every second!
Back in the good old days when the trains ran faster.
love those P70 coaches. whatever happened with the 707, 08, and 09
Nicholas Medovich remind me of LIRR.
Those i think are the MU Lackawanna cars
Nicholas Medovich I believe so!
I think they wound up at the Austin Steam RR association and then got sold to Iowa Interstate for their steam trips
@@MrNJT i assume they were remembered after they went Off from the Laurel Highlands Railroad
Maybe at 14:37 where 734 is whistling loudly it's Earl.
12:26 I think that's Earl running 734 (Knoob.)

I don't know. I have no affiliation with WMSR. Maybe someone else does.
SwellDrew I think that whistle may have went to Cass,WV, because I heard it on Western Maryland Shay #6
SwellDrew It came from Western Maryland 2-10-0 number 1114 (scrapped). The whistle has since been returned to its original owner I believe.
