I fixed mine the other day put a new jockey wheel on it had to take it all apart thank, god for CZcams not bad for a 75 year old woman , if it’s fixable I’ll have a go 😂
Great work 👏💥💯👌
That’s awsome.
Good on you! 😂 I hope you have some power tools and not hand screwing though!
@@ShutoStriker I do but actually that weren’t needed only screwdrivers and only a drill to replace all the cabinet screws. Difficult part was taking the fan cover off and replacing it the belt , the worst was replacing the belt even the videos say it’s hard my tenacity got me through😀
Atta girl!
Great fix, i love it when you can fix stuff that easily.
Did this myself but actually got a real roller bearing job done for life. 😊
Fix everything me where I can. Fridges, washers, dryers and dishwashers. Love the process of fault finding and the satisfaction of seeing them work perfectly again
Me too Andy. 👌
I've done this on our indesit 4 times now over 8 years, I've never had to dismantle it this far, just the back cover and top. will always check this part before dismantling any further.
also replaced the door lock, mechanism and the locking tab, parts are so easy to get on indesits, it's starting to resemble triggers broom
I love a fix video (making or watching). The issue is how we convince the YT algorithm to show them to those who dispose of things at the first sign of an issue.
Good to know they're easy to dismantle. Glad you got it sorted and showed us all how simple it is.
Thanks mate. I agree and it's so satisfying getting it up and running again. I've got long form vids showing repairs to my Henry vac (new motor) and Dualit taste (new elements and timer switch) on my channel. 👊
Replaced this bearing a few times over the years on mine. First time it went I rotated the bearing 180 degrees and drilled and tapped a new hole to attach it. The spindle is the bearing down on the unworn surface. Lasted over 12 months until the heating element went on it 🤣
Good thinking James. Yes the previous repair was a snapped belt. It is fun to get these machines back up and running when the components are so simple. 👌
I had the same machine, done this fix twice at least along with a new seal kit for around the door, got sick in the end cause the problems just kept coming so finally bought a new machine
Same same, did a few times
Also a hotpoint. I support that "yay!"
Is that not a bushing rather than a bearing?
Good job brother 👏
No1 seems to have this old school attitude these days RESPECT
Thanks buddy. Yep it's a shame as you feel epic when you fix these things 👊
I replaced a new rubber belt myself and all dusts cleaned and it works as a new tumbler machine! New belt rubber is just £10. Done job 👍🏻 Thanks for this video!
i've not done a tumble dryer but fixed numerous washers, new pumps or drive belts sort of thing and the cooker a few times new elements and door when it smashed im a firm believer in try fixing it yourself!
Great work mate. Yes, me too, and loads of stuff on the dishwasher - pump seals, micro switches. It's rewarding breathing new life into it. 👊
Nice one. I've been pimping my vacuum cleaner for years now, changed plastic parts that break for upgraded metal parts. It's really rewarding fixing and keeping it
Easy to do, love how you didn't show getting the belt off the motor, tried replacing my white Knight belt, horrendously designed and one of the few jobs in life I've thrown in the towel for.I then Bought a candy 10kg drum and the belts just gone on that. Sat there a month not been brave enough to look
Getting the belt off is easy you just slide it off. Getting it back on is the tricky bit.
My dryer has been doing the same at times and i keep kicking it until that doesn't work then turn it off.
I was at my wit's end after i replaced the belt and it did the same , i had it in bits gave it a clean and thought it should be good as new and it was screaming after 30 minutes, after seeing this video im convinced it will be this same issue, thanks for sharing 👍 😊
I did the same thing on our washing machine. It was actually a badly fitted seal so water had ruined the rear bearing. Easy cheap fix 😊
Cool that you could fix it!
This tumble dryer should be replaced as it is an energy eating monster if used on a regular basis. This one uses around 4,5 kWh each run, and a heatpump dryer around 1,5 kWh. Copper, glass, and sheet metal is easy to recycle.
I love this. Man after my own heart. Well done!
Thanks mate 👊
You are clearly experienced and clever with this stuff.... not all of us can be good or as confident ..... good job tho fella 👍
Yes!!! Repair before replacing!!!
Exactly 👊
Problem can be getting parts, glad you fixed it, I replaced the element in ours to give it a new lease of life.
My washing machine 20yrs old every part is still available and replace pump motor brushes several times just done the suspension legs and door seal . It's still as good as new no digital safety cut outs all analogue switches far better than any new washing machine
Good work. Yes I've done the pump, pump seal, float micro switch on my dishwasher and it's still going strong after 13 years. If the control panel goes though it will be time to change it as they're pretty much as expensive as a new machine.
Great fix Charlie
Wow, mine does this when i first turn it on. I didnt know it was this easy to fix. Thanks for taking the time to make this.
Do it Nathan. So satisfying to fix it and you don't need to take three machine apart although it's a good idea to, to vacuum away all the fluff.
I had an old Zanussi dryer (one of the first condenser dryers) it worked tirelessly for years. 2 new belts and a new jockey wheel were all it needed over those 16 years. It finally died and went to the great scrapyard in the sky after the motor burnt out nearly taking our kitchen with it!
Good grief. You were lucky there! These things are a bit of a fire risk.
Love the energy and enthusiasm!
As being German, I am looking for to that EU-sustainability act, that should force manufacturers to design their products reparable and provide spareparts for a certain period.
I got my tumble dryer for free cause the belt snapped so my mates landlord replaced the whole unit. For £20 and an hour I got a tumble dryer. Has worked without issues for 2-1/2 years!
You must be so proud of yourself! 👏🏻
Mines just done exactly this! Easy fix
Yep and you don't need to take it apart but helps if you do as you can vacuum away all that dangerous fluff
The bearings are designed not to require grease. When you do apply grease fluff / dirt can get stuck to it making it wear out faster. This is why when people replace them they find the replacement will not last as long at the original one did.
Well done…I long for the day when when things get repaired one more time than they are broken ❤
well done.! I attempted to fix an oldie a while ago. Turns out it was the motherboard. These cost about the third of the price of a new one which uses less than half the electricity. So fingers crossed the old one will be recycled properly (it should be) and not end up on a landfill.
My washing machine is a bit like Trigger’s broom. I’ve changed that many parts on it; it’s not the original washing machine anymore. Drain pump x3, drum motor, heating element, drum agitators, shock absorbers.
Mine was the Front door seal that Velcro strip that goes on the front rim casing. But got a new shaft as it was bent and bearing Was a compact hotpoint vented dryer. I would definitely say the small ones are harder to put back together than a big one.
It still makes a high pitched squeak when on. 🙄
So I got a 2nd hand miele heat pump for 25 quid just need a new moisture sensor for not much money use less than half of the electricity of my old hotpoint. And the fluff inside the hotpoint was a Henry hoover bag and a half of fluff don’t know how something didn’t catch fire. I still got it as a spare it’s such a quick little thing.
I've been tempted with a heat pump but not sure I want the faff of emptying the water all the time 🤔
I had a similar problem but it was the nylon pads that the front of the drum rides on. I wondered why these weren't proper roller bearings - maybe something to do with lifespan/costs. Anyway I changed those and changed the belts and rear bearing same as you and the dryer is like new again.
Great work Brian. Yep they're pretty simple machines. With a bit of tlc they should go on for years 👌
Good for you. I like this style of content, it might well start a fad encouraging people to fix things and perhaps purchase items that last longer. Cheers from Australia.
Thanks Charlie, anything we can do to avoid waste and unnecessary expense has to be good !
We all have to be extra careful when maintaining laundry devices though - water and electricity don't mix !
Good point 👌
Its so true about the fluff gathering in the machine this is called filter bypass i worked with water filtration and anything that would pass the filters was a big no no and these dryer companies have no excuse
Oi did a repair on mine a while back left me whith a handfull of leftover bits an thingamabobs it made this sound for a while so i closed the door untill the problem fixed itself. All is well that ends well
Big black Bosch condenser dryer. Come on round Charlie!
A tip for knowng which screw goes in which hole is to put each screw back in the hole it came out of as you disassembe it.
Hate those teardrop sintered bearing. I changed mine out for a flange bearing. Problem solved. Also Alu taped up the pipes as best I could.
You're lucky, we had a White Knight tumble dryer have the same problem but the issue we had was that a new 'spider' bearing for it cost just over £100 and it was one of those unfortunate times where we had to weigh up keeping an 8 year old machine going or do we spend another £100 on top and get a brand new machine with warranty... I'm all for repairs when they're cost effective
Can you recommend a video on how to replace the entire drum on one of these? Mine snapped off earlier and needs replacing but I don’t want to pay a fortune for it! Id rather do it myself
So true. The belt broke on ours and I just gave it a try and these are really simply constructed even if it's the first time working on one.
It's working fine again and I even got 4 extra screws 😂
Always fix mine myself as they are so easy to fix
Mines on its 3rd one of the pear shaped washers, can do it from the back without taking the whole machine apart..
Good share, where did you get the schematics knowing what the specific item broken was called?
Thanks Patrick. Funnily enough I just Googled "drum rear bearing" and it turned out that was exactly what it was called. You can usually narrow these things down pretty quickly on a Google search but yes for now complicated stuff eg fixing power tools I generally get a diagram from the manufacturer's website.
I have a combi washer dryer which makes noises, shows error codes and sometimes fills with water and empties without the drum rotating, I'm keeping it because I enjoy kicking it.
Love it 🤣
Nicely ✅ done
Dryers can be fairly easy to fix. My GF got mad at for fixing her dryer instead buying a new one. My dryer has a minor design issue which eats belts every 4 years or so I keep a spare on handy.
Good work 👌
You really are an inspiration Charlie 🙏
Thanks so much Steve. Couldn't do it without your wonderful encouragement. 👊🙏
I’m always fixing my hot point washing machine. Some a few repairs myself and it feel great once it starts working again!
Very satisfying isn't it Luke 👌
Great job
Nice one Charlie!
And then taping the extra screws to the back of the unit for future use
Great job man! 👍🏻
Thanks John 👊
I use candle wax instead of grease? Its a great lubricant and you can unscrew anything whats rusted together..
That’s an oilite bearing. It’s self lubricating. Applying grease can reduce the service life. 👍
Surprised our heavily abused bosch tumble dryer hasn't needed new bearings in the 14 years of ownership.
Got a Bosch dishwasher and washing machine. Had to replace the odd thing on the system but they've been going about the same time as yours 😉
@@CharlieDIYte that's great. They must be models from a time when they were more reliable. I still can't believe our dryer has worked for so long and still works today. Models from 2000 to 2009 really were my favourite genre of bosch appliances.
Because German.
Every year i do maintenance on my Tumblr dryer and washing machine. Grease thé bearing every year keeps thé mecanic away
@ikvanachter6002 that's very good
I like people who look after their appliances.
Great video thanks
Why would you take the drum out? What i do is turn bearings 180° , new hole for screw as its on the other side now. Fix without parts.
Just the video I needed 👌🏽 my gentle rocking the crap outta it has stopped producing results 🤣
I had to fix the same problem about 4times about every 2years, had enough of it so in the end fited good old fashioned flanged bearing instead 6 years on not a sound from it, why dont they do this in the factory makes me wonder
Our tumble dryer is about 40 years old.
Good maintenance and repairs, all done by me.
I will never buy a new one.
The phrase out of landfill is balls, this would have been off to a metal recycling facility
Good job, that’s for the vid!
Well done. Just a shame that we can't afford to run these anymore🙄
You can get to that bearing from the back. No need to take the drum or anything out.
Nice fix but it's usually the heating element that fails before the bearings and then the circuit board !
Fair point. Circuit board goes and you're definitely in the realms of a new machine.
Very good
With modern washers and dishwashers, the usual first thing to go is the electronic control board. Replacement can cost as much/more than a new machine.
I agree. I've repaired so many things on my dishwasher but the second the control panel goes I'll il have to ditch it.
Although a common failure on a board is the capacitor. And a board can be repaired.
Replaced bearing wheels on a Hoover condensing tumble dryer about 2 years ago, and pretty much designed to break down over time because surprise surprise, they’re made from a plastic 🙄
😅 😅 Been doing this for years. I had a 90's washing machine until 2018, only two drum bearing changes and a few other bits. It was awesome beige!!!!! So easy to fix and once you've done it and seen that they all have the same bits inside you'll realise you've been had by marketing trash.
So true. 🤣
De-mistifying DIY one project at a time 👍🏻
Always great when the kick method comes off 😂
So true 😉
Tnx to repair this actually good machine. Why you should throw it away for just a few dollar repair.
Resect to you my friend, sounds like me, kick n all... 😅😂
My attitude is if they can do it, so can I. Or at least have a go..
Bless..
You know when you feel the internet is watching you... I just put this exact tumble dryer in landfill. Sorry Charlie! At least it was replaced with a heat pump one but still. Always enjoy your videos. Thanks for the telling off, well deserved 😂
The problem is writen on the front - "Highpoint". Have a 10yo Miele, never changed anything.
You didn't need to take the drum out to fit that! Plus grease in a dryer is a bad idea! (Attracts fluff.)
PLUS those dryers are a fire hazard. Fluff builds up in the heater area. The modification they brought out didn't work.
But apart from that great job!
This is a 6 monthly job for me this including shaft too because they wear
Meanwhile my two day old Hotpoint double oven's induction hob blew up and no longer works. Needs a complete replacement with a new unit.
I got one of them
Love this ❤
Thanks 👊
I've got the exact same one so will keep this in mins I'd it starts sounding lile chewbacca
Glad you found it useful 😉
I've got a Hoover machine that's about 10 years old, it was already used when i bought it lol and it's broken down several times but the parts cost peanuts so i wouldn't buy a new one.
I like to take photos of things before taking them apart.
Wish more people would fix their stuff rather than dump.😊
Good on ya mate. Cheers!
Cheers mate 👊
"A little grease on the shaft..so to speak"😂
How do you find where to buy the parts?
Used to be able to try these repairs. Now painfully disabled and can't do it anymore. It pisses me off! Now have to pay someone to get it done. 😡
What did you do with the spare screws left over!?😂
Thanks for sharing.
Hid them from DIYfe 🤣
Tried to fix our last washing machine, failed bearing; got a new bearing took it all apart to find the drum was glued together- rather than bolted like they used to and you have to split the drum to do the bearing! Meaning I'd need a new drum assembly- but these cost nearly the same as a new washing machine! So they are designing these modern appliances as throw away items 😢
Exactly what a guy on my Discord forum found. He had to split the drum and then silicone it back together. 🤦 Frustrating as I thought they were being forced to make appliances repairable these days.
Fair play Charlie, how many people would have put that out for the scrap guys and bought a new one?!
How long did it last coz when I done it on my one 6days later it went agin lol
wind is free
Damn i need to do laundry 😂😂
Yeah my hotpoint dryer is 8 years old still going strong
Good work 👌👊
“The designers can’t be bothered to make these machines not fluff up “ - it’s inevitable, it happens with all Tumble Dryers even the Top End ones.. we are meant to maintain machines and prevent fires ourselves. It’s not the companies fault if someone puts a fleece blanket in there and it creates strands of fluff through out the machine !! 😂
I needed to replace the whole drum when my bearing went. It was uneconomic. Good old Bosch.
