Thanks to our growing Patreon community, we are able to cover most the cost of our recent cherry picker rental! Patreon funding goes directly toward renovating the historical Chateau de Lesigny!
Special thanks to our dear Patrons: Andrea, Jesse, Bernadette, Theo, and Morgan for your outstanding support of this Beau Chateau!
You can help support our renovation projects by joining our Patreon Community and gain access to exclusive videos, updates and more!
Join us, Daphne and Ian, as we embark on our new chateau renovation projects! This week, we tear into the walls of our chateau offices! We explore new curtain designs for the Louis Room and offices. While we await Benoit's return in February, we begin planning how to incorporate more of his artisan carpentry into our bathroom remodel!
Our "beau chateau" (The 500-year-old, Chateau De Lesigny), is located near Paris, France. Most of the structures around the chateau domain need a full restoration, so we are investing everything we have into making the property thrive! We are learning more about french culture and developing new skills along the way!
As a French/American UC Berkeley graduate in Agriculture (Daphne), and a U.S. Air Force Tactical Response Force Veteran/ Kinesiologist (Ian), we share a love for challenges and adventure. We have a long road ahead of us and we are excited to share the experience with you!
You can support our renovation projects by joining our Patreon Community, where you can also gain access to exclusive videos and behind the scene access with Daphne and Ian! All patron funding is used to renovate this historical French Chateau. Every patron is paramount to our chateau renovations and we thank you all tremendously!

Rent a steamer and steam the paper off the wall. It works great by softening the glue and then you can scrape with a paint scraper.

@Jojo Dutch- I agree. Renting or buying a steamer for the wallpaper is a huge plus. I've seen this method done on another Chateau channel & the wallpaper came off easily. It is worth the investment because it saves so much time, effort & hassle.

I could see a large flower arrangement for weddings and such sitting on it. I love the goldish curtain fabric. Will add more light to the room, and definitely elegance. In the States there is something called a "Paper Tiger," a disc with plastic teeth that you score the paper with, then roll or spray on muriatic acid, wait a few minutes, and pull the paper off. Sometimes though, the paper is just so adhered to the wall one must leave it on, prime or otherwise treat (or not) and paper over.💗

Also, wall paper scratcher (not sure of official name of this tool) is a must!! I used a new/clean garden/bug sprayer to mist the walls with the mixture. Let it sit for 5 to 10 mins (scratch walls with your tool before spraying) & the mixture releases the glue. 😊

I had a room with wallpaper that was going nowhere. I tried so many methods, including a scoring tool and spraying the wallpaper with water solutions. In the end, I soaked layers of newspaper, plastered them onto the wallpaper in sections, and let the wet newspaper soak the wallpaper for about 30 minutes. Then I would remove the wet newspaper and proceed with scraping the wallpaper away. It was a huge mess, but it got the job done.

Hey Ian perhaps that light on your second chainsaw is there in case there's a zombie apocalypse. One must be able to see the enemy when one is defending their chateau. You looked very John Wick sporting two chainsaws. You certainly proved your love for your drone by climbing that tree in the dark. I guess that was a live and learn experience. Another great vlog with excellent editing. Cheers from Toronto

I had a 1800’s house it had 6 layers of wall paper, I issued Bounce dryer sheets in a spray bottle let is soak a few mins then mist spray and soak paper back of wall paper. It works great it scraps right off. If you have other rooms to do as you are likely done already.

Getting a little carried away with the green in the bathroom there. I was once a green lover, too. However, after about 3 years I was tired of it. Green shaggy carpet, Avocado Green appliances in the kitchen. The appliances are where I got the warning phrase, "Green things never die." We finally had to take the fridge to the dump!
Do you want to sir in a green bath looking outside at the green expanse of lawn and trees? Please becareful of green inside the house.

Rent a wall steamer. It will be well worth it. It makes striping wallpaper soooooo much easier.

I love to watch the big renovation channels but they've started to get a bit boring until I found yours! Your 1st episode was heartwarming and I found myself cheering for you it reminded me of when my Dad passed and I had to decide if I was going to run his printing business or just continue with my life as I knew it. I'd never owned a big business before but I couldn't bare just shutting down something he'd spent his life doing so I went for it, went through the school of hard knocks as they say and learned 3 years of schooling in 6 months or less but it was all worth it
I just finished binge watching all of your episodes up to this latest one and honestly, your channel is worthy of a network and your story is intriguing I only wish the episodes were longer!
Keep making your visions a reality I believe you can do it! 💖

Please rebuild the Gazebo! But first metal-detect that area. French gold and silver livres may be found there, having fallen out of the pockets of a visiting nobleman or cuirassier taking his romantic liberties with a Mademoiselle of the Beau Chateau.

Was the purple room covered in fabric? Rent a steamer. Taking off wall paper is the job from hell! This is why I won't put up wall paper! If I want pattern, I'll recover a chair or make pillows!
Ian, I think you want "Pergola".
The gold for the curtains will bring out the grain of the paneling. Beautiful!

Buy the steamer. With the amount of wallpaper you will be removing throughout the château, it will be far less expensive than renting a steamer.

Besides a steamer, I have used regular liquid dish soap in hot water and a large sponge. It works but is more messy than a steamer.

Oh I would have loved to see a sheer champagne cream color curtain to let light in as well as give that glow effect.
But I know it's not my place to say but I know it will be beautiful what ever color goes up. It's just a beautiful place no matter what
