Montreal Advanced Arrow & Preemption Signal

- I've decided to abandon the flashing yellow arrow sequence for now since the cabinet is wired a bit differently. I'll play around with that on a later date! In this setup, I've implemented the Montreal Advanced straight arrow for advanced walk. Basically, the green arrow is tied to phase 6 walk and the green ball is tied to phase 6 PED clear. All the PED clear or pedestrian yellow outputs seem to also be Overlaps 13-16 and load switches 9-12, respectively. Not much else has changed except that I've temporarily turned off the phase 1 advanced left for now and I've added a flashing yellow beacon that activates when I "test call" Preempt 3. It's supposed to emulate an emergency beacon and it's tied to the phase 8 pedestrian walk phase. That walk phase will never recall unless the preempt is made!
Enjoy! - Zábava
That flashing green arrow is kind of cool.
Irish and Australians watching this video will be like “wait, that is the walk sound in my country” when watching this video.
I like the musical crossing sound much better than the Japanese-style “CHIRP-DUDUDUDUDU…” and “cuckoo” sounds. It goes like this for anyone wanting a visual description of the sound (including the actual notes played):
White signal: E-C#-B-A
Flashing orange signal: E-C#-B
Solid orange signal: sound stops.
I like the incandescent signals from the different shape traffic signal.
Thanks! It's definitely a unique piece!
Like the ones in Sapporo.
@@trafficlightcollection99 Do they have them there? These are common in Quebec and in some of the Maritime Provinces.
There don't have there, but they have some places.
What is the melody at 0:50 ? I’ve heard it
It’s called the Canadian Melody and it’s used to replaced the chirp sound at crosswalks! Used in most of Canada but a lot of cities still use the chirp sound.
One one thing say cross and I like the sound
0:13 This signal looks like LRT. In Singapore, they provide green, white arrows & red signals for Bukit Panjang LRT.

Does anyone happen to know what the old left turn sequence was before bimodal arrows were used for London Ontario Canada
The advanced green! The fast flashing green light! I'm using that sequence in some of my other videos.
Do you have one of those light up no parking signs that used to be in Montreal to denote a weather parking ban
I do! They’re currently outside at my current house.
Is the ^ arrow for pedestrians and the green circle is for cars?
piktureit Yup! The straight arrow comes on and allows an advanced pedestrian movement and restricts vehicles from making turns during the walk phase. When the green ball comes on, the pedestrian clear movement is taking place so vehicles may make turns as long as the pedestrians are clear of the crosswalk.
@@TheTrafficTech That’s really smart, actually! I’m honestly surprised we don’t use that here in the US. Heck, we have flashing yellow arrows now (and they’re super common at this point, although they weren’t just a few years ago), so this is the logical next step. Integrating the pedestrian signal system into the car signal system could seriously save lives!
@@mbcommandnerd exactly! I'm hoping my city starts using them soon! Pedestrian and vehicle movements should always be separate!
@Kyle Miller one time I was looking on Google maps street view, I was looking in Montreal. Then I spot a 6-section Traffic Light and a 5-section Montreal advanced arrow.
@@mbcommandnerd They do have Montreal advanced arrow in u.s I’ve seen them.
5:27 what does the red and green instead of the man hand mean?
Same thing as walk and don’t walk in this setup.
@@TheTrafficTech thinking you added the red and green lights from other traffic signals and they had to add the new leds
@@SkylineMasher I added them while my walk / don’t walk was getting fixed so it wouldn’t go into flash.

Hello Kyle, very impressing traffic signal collection! I wish I could have a collection like yours. I wonder how you got the square led colors in the one that has two reds. I also see you have yellow squares on two different lights, they are cool! Have you ever wondered how your lights will be distributed should they be used for an entire intersection? I hope I can chat with you soon and hope you keep up updating your collection.
Thank you! It definitely took some time but you should see my lights now (most recent videos).
The square reds and diamond yellows came from Prince Edward Island as they still commonly use those LED's there.
It would be interesting to see my signals in an entire intersection for sure! Once I build a garage, I'll set them up in more of an intersection style.
Thanks again!

At LED section, looks like Singapore-Canadian signal at Ang Mo Kio Central.
7:07 what's that flashing yellow signal under the arrow?
Dženita Aljukic I'm using it as a preemption signal. It would be used when emergency vehicles are present!
@@TheTrafficTech I’ve also seen it used for railroad crossings too. If there’s a crossing within only a few feet of the traffic lights (which there is in some places), you’ll sometimes see a little flashing light start going off just before the crossing lights up and begins it’s activation sequence. That’s one of those preemption lights, and so if you know what it means, you can get extremely advanced warning of a train, and stop well before it arrives.
@@mbcommandnerd that's a good feature! They are extremely useful!
I don't understand Canadian Traffic Signals
1:15 It sounds from Australia, New Zealand & Singapore.
Don't forget Dublin, Ireland! Yes that is the sound. The sound file is called "Australian".
Got it!
And Thailand.
Traffic light Co
Where did you get the sound from?
i saw your iPod nano i have the blue one
Your basement here almost looks empty compared to your 2021 vids.
I know!! I really need a garage now ahah!
Visors metal or plastic
I have a mix of both!

Noooo I love the flashing yellow arrow
Amtrak Productions Once I get a bit more familiar with the cabinet, I'm sure I can make it work!
Kyle Miller awesome! I love your polara navigator!
Amtrak Productions Thanks! I'm really happy I was able to obtain them! I'll be uploading some custom sounds to them again soon!
Kyle Miller cool, how could I get one, BtW I only have one traffic light, a ped signal
Amtrak Productions Nice, what kind? Do you have a video of it?
Regarding my Polara buttons, I found them on eBay and I got them for a decent price considering. They're difficult to come by! I'm always keeping an eye out!
These signals from Canada.
A lot of them are. The Streamline, 16" pedestrian signal and the yellow 12" section with the flashing right turn arrow are from the US.
Kyle Miller cool!
