    Amp Rides Volt ST is a 52v 2400 watt peak power folding fat tire ebike capable of achieving 37 mph. Unlike most folding fat electric bikes, this one has style, and power. While the price is not the cheapest, the $2200 price tag is justified by the 40 amp controller and quality Samsung cells in the 52v battery. If you want quick acceleration and the ability to nominate hills along with a way to fold the bike up when you're done riding, the Amp Rides Volt ST could be the bike for you.

    Saw this review and ordered one the same day. Had some issues with it and Amp Rides took care of them immediately. Amp Rides customer service is the best I have ever dealt with. I have 4 ebikes, and this one is the beast of all of them. I am a big guy at 6' 1" 285 lbs, and I live in western PA. We have nothing but hills here and I needed something that would kill them all. The Amp Rides Volt 1500W with 52V and 25Ah battery rules. Hills are now no longer an issue and it is worth every penny. Thanks TailHappyTV for the great insight and helping me find the ebike of all ebikes for me!

    Just to let those interested in this bike there are settings in the display to adjust the number and power levels for each pedal assist level 0 to 9. Also you can adjust the way the power is applied from start to take the suddenness out of the ride.

    I own this bike in the light blue color with whitewall tires. I'm a big, old, short-legged guy and got it for the torque and easy access. The hills in East Tennessee are no problem for this bike. Even with my massive weight, I've gotten it up to 31mph throttle only on the flats. The bike does have some quirks and you definitely have to adjust the PAS levels to your liking. I switched to wider handlebars which seemed to help considerably with controlling the front end. Amp Rides changed owners in June of this year. I didn't receive all the name-branded doo-dads pictured but was supplied with aftermarket ones. The new owners seem to be trying hard to build the brand and meet the needs of current owners. I don't ride it like TailHappyTV does (I'm riding to get in shape) but it's nice to know you've got the speed and torque if you need them.

    I have the same frame on a 750watt 22amp controller $900 bike from Amazon that my wife rides. This one seems a tad expensive in comparison, but it is much more powerful with a much larger battery and hydraulic brakes. I prefer this 20x4 over the moped style bikes because you can actually pedal quite comfortably and this bike outperforms most moped styles! Love the frame, but the telescoping handlebars feels a bit unstable above 25mph on mine. I also really miss the full suspension. This and the similar Fabulous Havoc are the best if you like this frame style and want the extra power. Another great review!

      Havoc x2 usa model is the one I want eventually. Not sure it does 36 mph but close. 60 V 20 ah should be fine running 1 motor 90% of the time.

      I like the x2 step thru but the full suspension looks funny to me😂. The Fabulous handlebars look better than the telescopic ones on the Amp. I really feel safer on 26x4 at speed and for off road but the 20x4 are perfect for women and shorter riders. I’m interested in what new models are coming in 2024, should be more power and performance on tap.

    Seems you have a very successful channel, lots of hard work. Makes sense to not show blowing through stop signs. Doing speed testing on bike trails does little to 'promote' e-bike use, surprised manufactures don't protest the practice. The bike looks nice, and is obviously fast. Given that it uses a folding frame I would suggest owners double check clamps and hinge often.

    I've been looking at this exact bike for a few weeks now, seems to be everything I want, need and more for city living (NYC). The only reason I haven't is because I can't decide between this or the Fabulous Havoc X2 Step, similar in features, but do I want 56 tooth chainring or all wheel drive? Is there any way you could test the Fabulous (if you haven't already?) Great channel, excellent content. Love watching your reviews.

    • @jfly2249
      @jfly2249 Před rokem +2

      For the city, I think you are better off with this one versus the awd Fabulous. It is lighter and less dangerous when turning, and I assume you turn a lot riding in the city.

    • @michaell7102

      @@jfly2249 You make some good points, the ligter weight being a big deal for me- Thankfully I live on only the 2nd floor of a walk-up in Brooklyn, but if I'm doing any maintenance myself (brake pad replacement, tire/inner tube change, chain cleaning), then every ounce counts when bringing the bike up 22 steps (i counted). Though, Citizen showed on another channel that you can adjust the amount of power going to the front wheel to improve grip and acceleration, which could help as I ride year round here.

    • @jfly2249
      @jfly2249 Před rokem

      It looks like a great bike but it is $$. You can definitely tone down or turn off the front motor and make it very safe to ride. I looked at replacing my wife’s similar 750w bike with one of these but realized she doesn’t like to go very fast. If I was buying a bike today for her it would be the $1200 Vitilan U7. Instead I’m keeping the bike spending $40 to upgrade to cable actuated hydraulic brakes and 180mm rotors. I love the simple step thru frame and they look really good. With power comes great price, but it’s worth it.

    • @michaell7102
      @michaell7102 Před rokem

      @@jfly2249 I thought the Fabulous was pricey also until I realized the website price is in Canadian. $2,899 CAD converted to US dollars is (as of today) is $2135.55, actually a few bucks cheaper. I actually spoke with both companies today and decided to go with your rec, the Amp- mostly because of the larger brakes (VERY important in city riding where no one looks before crossing the street or turning a corner), and the larger chain ring so I'm not ghost pedaling. I wish I could get the larger battery but at 5'7" height, I won't be able to touch ground at full stop. 20Ah for me. Now the only question is, light blue or orange (seafoam green is just not for me...)

    • @jfly2249
      @jfly2249 Před rokem +1

Definitely get a Suntour NCX seat post. You might want the Orange for better visibility.

    Do not order anything from Amp Rides. The original owner sold the company in June to an unscrupulous character who will lie to you incessantly for months on end, telling you it's stuck in customs, and that you'll have it next week. It NEVER comes! He will give you the run-around when you ask for your money back!

      There's a 25AH option. The Dual shock version was a 30aH option, substantially more money tho.

    The problem is this bike isn't street legal in any state I know of. I know for sure in California (where these videos are shot) that 750 Watts is the maximum you can have without being required to get a licence.

      I agree, I’m working on getting them down to 10-15 minutes ideally. I spend a lot of time editing to get them just to get them this short. It’s a balance between getting something that is generally appealing, and also thorough enough to make a buying decision for somebody looking in depth.
