Clever to use the ad as the mic test😂
Sneaky sneaky🤣
I came here to say the same thing. LOL!
Great job on the video David! Thanks for making it.
Just ordered mine through your link. Thanks so much for the informative review. Cheers.
First thing I invested in was the original Rode Wireless GO paired up with their Lavalier GO mic before I bought my nice cameras. Can vouch how good these things are, definitely worth the money! great presentation as always David!
Do they ever go on sale? Been watching that one and the dji set up and they never go on sale lol
For this instance, I think you’d be better getting a lavalier mic, just so you don’t necessarily have to worry about your mic dying. I used to Motovlog, hope this helps brotha!
The wireless mics from rode have treated me well, however their biggest crux is the software to retrieve the internal recorded files. I’ve had more issues with that than the simplicity of the DJI wireless mic system. If rode could figure that out I would recommend them more, but for now the DJI mics are so much better.
Thank you for this video! It really helped me understand!
The internal recording on the II is huge and has saved me. I'm surprised it wasn't added in these. Would like to see a test of the new gain feature to see how it handles loud noises.
Thanks for the review. When you add the Go II to the ME does it still record internally?
Can we connect a Lavalier Mic like a small clip on mic with a wire to this unit ?
I can’t believe I’ve been here since before 1000 subscribers😮 you’ve come so far!! 🎉🎉
You're a legend!!! Thank you for staying withe me on here!
Being able to record on the Rode 2 and DJI is the main reason I'd consider buying them. I have the Comica Boom XD and the CVM WM100 UHF both are great lav systems I just wish they had on board recording. Even better if they used removable media. I've only seen much more expensive systems do that though.
I just returned from a week-long documentary-style shoot on a research vessel in Bermuda. We were 60+ miles out in the ocean for the week - it was intense/awesome. I was shooting stills/motion and I brought the original Rode Wireless GO mics with me. I would randomly throw them on the scientists while shooting - and have them talk about their work - and used them for a few quick interviews. I was blown away by how good they still worked - and could cut down the ship's noise. I've been looking at the DJi ones for easy travel/charging - but I may upgrade to the second version of these, with the internal recording. Nice man - great video. Hope all is well, Jeff.
I highly recommend the Dji over the rode wireless. They have internal recording as well, amazing battery life, and the charging case is awesome for keeping track and allowing them to record. Another huge plus is there is no need for an app to pull audio. The rode just has the files open up when plugged in. The ride’s software has given me issues on multiple occasions.
@@Devon-Carroll Nice man - all good points. Especially on the file system - that's important to keep it as simple as possible. I don't want to have to use a 3rd party app to access my audio files before I add them to my edit. One thing I need to clarify on those If/before I would switch over is if I can add a lav mic to them for a lower profile when putting them on a subject. Thanks again
@@Americanomondays yep! Either set can use lav mics.
@@Devon-Carroll Nice. Thanks.
I’ve had my eye on the Rode Go II for a long time, but the price point was too much. Now with the Go Me, I’m really thinking about it. Do you think this would work inside of a motorcycle helmet? Will I need the media mod for my GoPro? Maybe should record audio separately in the Wireless Me like you said? I think it would work really good on my canoeing videos. I could pop it inside my life jacket and have consistent audio. I totally agree with the gaffer tape mod. Love the sweatshirt… I think I need one. Headed to the merch store now.
what is the mic You are using?
I think this would be cool to have while recording kids as long as they stay on well. Also love the videos especially your end out takes. Keep up the good work!
I'm just looking at getting a wireless system, but I'm torn between this or a DJI microphone (one transmitter setup). Any recommendation @David?
Does the GO II not have auto gain?
Thanks for the info! This is great, as I'm looking to buy the GO ME. And the I the logo issue, lol... I feel like it's an inside joke from Rode. They know that anyone taking audio seriously would never use the transmitter pack as the mic(even though they advertise it like crazy) and that a lavalier mic would be used on the talent instead. Also, I may have missed it but did you bring up the fact between having a screen and no screen. I feel like that may be a deal breaker for some people to have audio meters compared to using the LED light(with the gain assist i can feel confident using the LED lights to set gain). And finally, nice hack with the sticker you made for the logo. Looks so clean! Patent and sell to them, immediately! haha
Hey, David. Did just put the transmitter inside your shirt or did you have a lav taped up in there. Trying to figure out how you got rid of so much wind noise.
Thx! But how about ON STAGE? Would FEEDBACK be a serious problem? I have arranged community stage performances for quite some time. Condenser mics are a disaster on stage! I am afraid that omnidirectional mics like this Rode would be a disaster too...😢
Gr8 video! I'm so so new at all this! I have an Android phone and just want to make videos for my digital business hypnosis programs .. do I just use my video app that comes with the phone? I'm hoping to not have to do any editing for now as I'm just not strong at that at all!! Lol
How much is an extra transmitter? Also for three mics what channels are the mics recording to?
I have a Wireless Me, and I would like to purchase a Go II transmitter. If I pair these, will the Go II transmitter gain the new Gain Assist function?
What I phone tripod is that?
I have just made a new video and the audio with the Rode me captured way to much background noise, I have tried all the settings but I cant seem to get it right? could you do a video on sound set up for city sound and general noise while interviewing and best way to avoid these issues with this product.
question: do these work with a mobile phone (android based) and can work with a phone headphone/mic 3.55 mm jack and not just go through the usb port, please?
What mic did you use for this video besides the rode mics?
Canada thanks you for your intelligent and informative reviews! Occasionally funny too. ;)
Oh Canada🇨🇦
Rode make great mics. I have the Wireless Go II and it's fabulous. It really is a big benefit to be able to record to the mic on the Go II though.
Stop! How did you mounted that zv1 so fast on that little tripod? Great video. Looking to upgrade my 1st gen Rode :)
Oh boy, are you ready to go down a rabbit hole?! Falcam quick release F38 series. It's like quick release camera legos for adults! geni.us/DMUlanziF38Quick
Can you take two of the transceivers from the Go and pair them with the Me so that you have 4 inputs? I mean if you can pair one of them with the Me and now get 3, 4 should work right? Unless the receiver mic on the Go turns off if you pair a second transceiver with it.
No, you can only go up to two transmitters. A note on that is the split channels. When you record left/right from both mics, you get the transmitter on the left and the receiver on the right. If you add another transmitter, the two transmitter's audio gets merged into one channel and the receiver mic on the other channel. Because cameras only have two channel pickups, you can't record the three channels separately
I love our dji radio mikes, this still feels significantly behind.
What video editing software do you use?
8:45 When you buy the second receiver in the package you have TWO black silicone cover which you can use to cover the logo.
That's such a good fix!
With my adapter
Can this mic be used with my GoPro hero 7(?)
Great meeting ya last week fella!
You as well good sir! Hopefully I'll see you at more events like that!
Another great video, David! Next one: what happens when you turn on all the Go2 and Me transmitters and receivers from both sets? 🤔
They explode.
Hahaa! Hopefully they don't explode like Space Cadet thinks🤣 BUT, you do pair transmitters to receivers. So if I turned them all on, the two systems would work independently. But you can pair one of the GO II transmitters to the ME system for a three mic setup. Channel wise, you end up with two transmitters on one channel and the receiver mic on the other
@@DavidManningvlogthanks for the info!
Do you have a wireless me setup on gopro with mic adapter?
Thanks!
I haven't used the ME setup on GoPro yet, but I've used the GO II setup a ton and it works great. I put the GoPro in a MediaMod, then mount the Rode Mic on top with the cable going into the media mod. Boom, wireless audio into my GoPro🙌
@@DavidManningvlog Thanks a lot!🙏🏻👌
Nice video very informative, can I use this in my GoPro Hero 11
Yes you can, you will just need the media adaptor to be able to connect via 3.5mm TRS.
Could someone use Apple AirPods with the iPhone vlogger setup? It looks nice but the Rhode is expensive here in Thailand... Great video... Thank you!
What about hollyland lark max or lark m1 ?
What is that mini tripod you’re using with your iPhone? Can you give the link?
Unfortunately they stopped making that one. But this one is my go to now > amzn.to/3ydgHBH
In regards to the con you mentioned, in the box rode provide 2x matte stickers which fixes that. 😊
Interested in seeing a review of the new gopro boom products that just came out
I'll see if I can get my hands on it!
Of course you can use a lavender mic with it too like my original rode mic go, right?
Yep! Lav mic works great with the GO II or ME wireless mics
which software to use make sound quality better?
I do most of my audio adjustments right in Premiere Pro. These mics get the audio close, so you just need a few tweaks to elevate the sound
Just got one a year later, and looks like they listened to you. They now come with a blacked out sticker set.
So helpful!!!
what is sound quality difference between go II and ME? (more important than difference between ME and iPhone)
I can’t hear any difference at all between the two
It still needs a built in charging case like the DJI mic. SUper annoying to have to charge each unit.
That's an amazing mic set up.
It's a super solid piece of kit and for a crazy good price!
@@DavidManningvlog now I just need a video on how to convince my wife I need this
Not that people are reviewing this mic and it’s a shame. Your content is clean. I’m definitely subscribing!
Anyone figured out how to use this for Zoom/Google Meet/etc together with a (usb/3.5 mm) IEM headset (audio only)? Would love to have proper audio in noisy cafes/windy semi noisy outdoor environments, but would prefer not to go analog into TRS, but keep the digital quality (assumingly) high.
Does either have an EQ?
Hey David there is another version of Rode wireless go II for 200 $, with one transmitter and Microphone. Me is for 150 $, which one will you recommend out of these two.
Thanks for the great video! I just bought the Wireless ME system. Guess what? Rode also includes a sticker pack for the devices!
Awesome review n comparison but i gotta ask… where is that cap from?
Golf company called Swannies👍
@@DavidManningvlog thx man!
That is great device. Would be great for my TikTok livestreams, but I only use music in my short videos, so microphone not required.
Nice info bro
I hardly ever watch ads, well done
Is diference in distance between ME and GO 2?
Same range👍
Rode ME, I love it! that doesn't take away from Rode go though. Rode is Great
The formfaktor of the rodes still are outdated. I have the M1s from hollyland dual mics and for Just 129 USD They are super slim... come on Rode
No you cant connect 3 people on the go me. Our small tiny cameras only record dual channel. One left and one right. Except you want to merge stuff and then its when you destroy the sounds and you start crying when in post😂 because the one of the 2 was making a glitch or a noise or something that you cannot disconnect as they are merged.
With the go 2. You can easily as a splitter cable and have a lav or another mic ( its just 1 cable) . And still have internal recordings on the mics which is a must for me for any interferences.
How do they compare to DJI's mic set?
The GO II mics are more comparable to the DJI mics, both feature and price wise. There's a ton of videos out there comparing the two. I like the DJI mics for ease of use and file retrieval, but I think the GO II audio sounds warmer and richer. Hard choice between the two
Thank 🙏 you for this perfect presentation. At 9:30: The easiest way. Rode should print her logo in black. No need for a black sticker.
Great review, just sucks you didn't test the mic on the receiver....
Sorry about that. Same mic though👍
I like how u did this real rap
3 channels… how is the third recorded? left right and…. center?
It's not three channels, it's three mics. So both transmitters are merged on one channel and the receiver is on the other channel
The fact they took his advice on the matter black stickers is hilarious
YES!!!!! I'm Gaffing my Rode Wireless 2's tooooonight!!!!!
Will these work with a GoPro Hero 11?
Yep! Hook into the mediamod perfectly!
Can we plug that into a GoPro like you did the phone
Not using the USB-C cable, but you can via the TRS 3.5mm input when connected to the media mod.
Everything is just getting so big now
Rode has kept the same form factor for the Wireless GO I, II, and now ME, but I agree that it's too big. I would love to see something a little more slimmed down. As for recording with them though, you can plug a lav mic into the transmitters and wear the transmitter on your hip and simply clip on the lav. That way you just see the small lav on your talent
@DavidManningvlog you won't remember but that's one of my pet hares that cameras and mics and the likes are too big to carry about when your on a hike
If you own a wireless mic go or go ii just get the sc15 cable and it will fix your problem.
Can't I just use my Wireless Go to do the same?
The Rode Wireless Me has another big advantage. It has AutoGain function - it autmatically adjust the sound leveles.
Is it me or does actually not sound that good? Especially outside. I just bought the ME and can’t seem to get very good quality unless I’m holding it right in front of my mouth talking directly in to it.
Nasıl şarj ediliyor
Can I ask which mic you're using in your studio for this video? Can't see anything listed in your description above.
I like these, minus the large logo.
They must have listened because mine came with black out matte stickers.
I put black gaff tape on my Rode wireless transmitters.
Smart man Mevi!
A black sticker is now included ☺️
Nice!
DJI mic is best. Loud, clear audio and easy to use.
Daaave 🙌🏼
Abhijeet!!!
I can't believe RODE has yet to respond to the infinitely superior DJI Mic.
Hey! The Wireless ME is designed to be super simple to use (just plug it in and it sounds awesome), plus it's got some super unique features that no other mic has like GainAssist and the mics built into the receiver and transmitter for recording audio from in front of and behind the camera at the same time (perfect for interviews and creating content for TikTok, Shorts, Reels). We've also got some exciting stuff lined up for the Wireless GO II and new wireless products in the future - so keep your eyes peeled, responses incoming...
@@rodemic hopefully Gain Assist can come via firmware update? 🤞
@@rodemic how about you slim down the profile of your product by like in half, create a chargeable case for your transmitters and receiver. Have a touch screen on the receiver so all settings changes do not require a phone app to make changes, substantially increase your wireless range between the transmitter and receiver, allow for a small adaptor to be used (with no wire) that allows for the receiver to be plugged in directly into a phone via lightning and usb-c, and lastly drop the stupid computer app to pull audio files and just have them stored in one single folder so you can drag and drop the files with zero hassle.
Just get a wired lav mic. Cheaper, simpler and one less thing to charge/update/reset/trouble shoot when it inevitably stops working
I fully agree that the logo is to big, but then again, Rode wants people to see it and be like, ah, that person uses a Rode, I should get one too.
David is right. Bad audio is worse than bad video.
Yeah, bad audio is a no go for me. I switch off a video right away if that's the case
Make a 3D printed cover ;-)
They now come with a black sticker that covers up the logo.
UPDATE. Just bought the ME mics and they include an all black Rode sticker
I really hate when you have someone that does have good audio but they don't know how to properly mix the music volume with their voice volume, making it nearly impossible to understand what they're saying.
I think you need to move the clip on mic to a location that isn't your collar. It's way too close to your mouth
Button up shirts are for sure the ideal clothing to clip onto because you can get more of that sternum location, but I'm thinking the hoodie wearing crowd will be heavily looking at this mic👍
@@DavidManningvlog I only noticed it because the iPhone audio sounded better when you were up close
🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼
The whole presentation is quite a bit misleading for a newbie viewer (like the Tick Tockers or new comer CZcamsrs) . Please , explain to the viewers that 90% of the presentation is NOT recorded with the Rode Wireless Me/GO , but with a professional external mic hanging on the very edge , above your framing. Many people believe that they are listening to the RODE wireless product throughout the whole video. You definitely DO NOT explain this , properly. The Quality of the Rode Wireless mic is quite average if not poor.
My 2cent. Thank you for your review.
That's a solid point, but I'm not sure that's the case. For most of the video, I'm holding the mics in my hands. It would be odd to think that that was the audio pickup as I fling them around and pick them up and put them down. I think you're right that I should have mentioned what my normal setup is, but I think putting on the screen when the Rode ME is in play and having an audio comparison section does the job. It's for sure noted though and I'll make sure to add a note in future videos. Thanks for the feedback👍
What Hollywood said is my experience. If you are recording a video about a microphone, why not use it as much as possible if it's that easy to use?
Why not get a SONY and have a cable-less system
Sony doesn't have a wireless mic system that goes directly into the hot shoe. Only a shotgun mic that can do that
@@DavidManningvlog they do, W2BT
I would donate $100 to your diaper fund for a 30 second TikTok dance here on this channel. Learn it, master it…actually don’t, would be much more funny. I will also do it on my channel.
Hahhaaaa! I don't know if I can make that happen🤣
Come on, you know you want to.
@@teamsaunz 🤣🤣🤣
@@DavidManningvlog I’m sure your girls would get a good laugh out of it.
Hey send me a pair I need these✨🤌🤌❤️
Hahaha! I think this product is going to be a hit for Rode. LOTS of people need these!
