I don't understand the hate part 2 gets. Even with the events, it's still one of my favorite games of all time. I believe if a story makes you hate it but still keeps you trapped and enjoying it, it's a great story.
yeah idk for me I loved every second i played as ellie, speedran abby's parts to get to ellie's parts and I kinda felt lied to by the marketing when Joel died in the first hour. But with that said I legitimately think its one of the best games I've ever played solely because of the emotions it caused in me lmao
People dont like a game that is way to emotional I love lou2 but i understand it maybe to emotional for someone who plays games only to escape real life its like playing the funeral of a loved one So instead responding with sadness alot of them responded with anger Which is ironic(they are just like ellie)
alot of the hate for this game came from the half fake half true leaks, making people have thier minds made up without playing the game. there's a reason why so many videos on here are of people finally giving it a go and the loving it after dismissing it at launch because of the hate it was geting. also neil and the team knew this game would be both loved and hated, they didnt set out to make a univerally loved game like part 1 they wanted people to question what they were playing. not many studios take risks with popular IPs to avoid backlash but naughty dog was bold and done it with part 2 fully knowing not everyone will like it and it still became a huge sucess despite the hate
Only problem i got with TLOU 2 its that Abby part drags a little, too many hours, but the history is great, hating a history because a character dies is stupid, specially when it triggers a story so good. I loved Joel as a character too, but he dying only made me feel more conected with the story, for the first time i wanted to get my revenge for real, you know, father figure dying on the first act its a trope we have seen in many stories, specially in videogames, but most of the time it means nothing because its a character that gives you the basic tutorial and barely nothing else, here it is the main charcter of one of the most aclaimed stories in videogames, it really hits, and at least to me, made me feel Ellie's journey as mine. Then you get to the end, and you see the conversation they both had the day before this happened...Man it broke me for real You really have to be delusional to say its a bad game, and honestly, if you think so, you deserve to play games as service until the end of your days
It was switching Jesse for Joel in the trailer. Then the leaks came out, the game is a lesson in revenge & forgiveness. It's a good game, but it was misleading at best.
The reason ND gave for that scene along with others was ‘preserving the story’ which is BS imo they led fans of Joel along for 7 years only to needlessly kill him off
The problem isn't the game, it's the people. There's plenty of fair criticisms but the ultra haters who mock Abbys muscles, Lev etc gave all the real comments a sour taste. I love the game but I'll accept there's alot of problems. But trans characters and a buff woman are not any of them
been thinking lately, maybe if we played through abby's campaign first, and maybe left ellie out of he marketing completely, maybe people wouldve given her a fair chance
I liked part 2 a lot. I thought the story was fine and the ending was pretty good. I liked the gameplay mechanics and the back and forth with Ellie and Abby
What Naughty Dog constantly fails to realize about the TLOU2 is that we don't hate it because Joel died we hate it because of the way he died... a perfect example is The Walking Dead games, when Lee died we didn't hate the game because he died. He got bit saving Clementine and they even got to say goodbye before he ultimately died. You didn't hear any hate from fans because it his death was handled well. In this case Joel was just thrown into Abby's lap, if it was handled better the fans could have lived with it
It’s the most unnecessary controversial game of all time, I love this game as much if not more then the first, I’ve finished this game far to many times to count & after that I still don’t get the hate. On a side note I never hated Ellie nor do I find her to be the villain.
🤔me and my friend played the last of us 2 together, it was two deaths and switch or play for like 40 mins and switch, but we both loved the game and thought it was a great continuation of the first game, yes we wanted Abby dead at first for what she did to Joel, and we didn't like playing with Abby at first either but as the game went on we saw that Abby and wasn't some evil villain just a human like ellie who wanted revenge for what Joel took from her, and when we reach the final fight with Abby we pause the game and said no this isn't right, we both did a 360 view on Abby and didn't want to kill her anymore, which we both said is a good standard for games to make you think and feel for the characters.
Controversy. Bigots wrote transphobic death threats before the game came out. When they were proven wrong about the events of the game they did what idiots do and doubled down in the anger while claiming the real reason for the anger is "abc" when that was proven false they then screamed "its because"dce" when that was proven false, more anger amd claiming "fgh" and so on. They finally settled in generic "bad story". When asked for examples they either site things that never happen in the game or are examples of great writing. But mostly out themselves as not understanding the first game either. Hint: Joel was the villain from the time we met him. We see his villain origin story. We play it.
TLOU is one of (if not my favorite) games, primarily because of the emotional story and fantastic character arcs. Even though the sequel is deeply flawed, with pacing issues, plot contrivances, and deaths done for shock value, I neither truly love it or hate it. I was set to preorder the game, but suddenly the leaks (some of them lies, like Abby being trans) happened. I vowed to never play it, but around a year later I decided to give it a day in court. It helped to play it with a more open mind. Despite how underdeveloped Abby still was by the end of the game (which was way too long), I hated Ellie more by then. Surprisingly, I didn’t want to kill Abby on the beach, hanging there. The combat and gameplay is better than the original. But even though it’s supposed to be an apocalyptic game about hate, it was WAY too stressful and disturbing to have much replay value. But I’m not sorry I played it at least once, because it’s an experience more than anything.
By the end you'll hate Ellie. I don't hit either of them. The broth incredibly strong characters and if you hate Ellie by the end of it you've missed the point of the game. The point of the game is that fighting with each other doesn't really solve anything we all have demons but we can still treat each other with respect and let each other exist as we do I would say in my own personal opinion the game is about forgiveness and regret and growth
I'm always going to Hate Abby No Matter What!! I'm always going to Love Ellie & Miss Joel, but the 'Online Hate' & Death Threats against the Actors/Writers & Developers crosses the Line! My Opinion Only; But I think, if the Developers gave the Player a 'Choice' at the End of the Game: 'Kill Abby or Let her Live' maybe, just maybe the Level of Hatred & Criticism could've been Lower??
TLOU2 is one of if not the greatest game ever made. People who don’t like it are either stupid or are 15 years and arent mature enough to know what a good story or game is 🤷🏻♂️
One of the best games of all times. Seeing Abby’s side and her thoughts, family and her point of view of Ellie and Joel. Honestly I thought to myself I would probably be a firefly or WLF
The writing was shit and forced, the attempt to manipulate the player was ham fisted and not appreciated. TLoU2 is hated because it is pretentious and thinks its shit smells sweeter than most. It doesn't. Its overall poor sales when considered to the first game, speaks volumes. I'll play 3, but i'll never pay for it nor any future ND game.
I dont think the game deserves as much hate as it got, but the flaws are there and do deserve to be criticized. Pacing was off throughout portions of the story, the setup for Joels *death* was poorly done, and one of the biggest issues had to be how they handled Abby. Neil and his cowriter tried to make us sympathize with her, but its just not possible with such little time we had before we were forced to start playing her pov. That needed time and more development, it felt forced and thats why a lot of people didn't enjoy playing as her. I think thats where they went wrong, naughty dog prioritized the messages of the story and didnt think about the fans experience. Its still a video game at the end of the day. Part ll will be done better in the show, it'll have a lot more breathing room to tell the story the right way.
I will never like Abbyzilla, and I will always love Ellie. Your opinion is yours, though. Only part I like in the game is Ellie birthday. I'll never play the game again

Exactly!
It's an objectively terrible game with a terrible story. Cope harder
I wonder why everyone died on purpose when playing Abby vs Ellie
Hi, I'm an equal percentage of everyone and I never did that.

That's why I loved the game and parts of it reminded me of Naruto in some parts with the cycle of hatred and the flashbacks

It's not their job to give spoilers. Audiences used to praise this.
