Fun fact: across the street from St. John's Cemetery at 89-70 Cooper Ave is Archie Bunker's house, or more accurately, the house seen in the opening credits of the famous "All In The Family" TV show from the 70s.
Interesting stuff đ€đđđđyeah đđ

That's awesome
A park bench in Heaven is better than any mansion in hell.
Many of them are not in heaven because they chose not to repent of their sins.
No such thing as hell.
It's either light or dark
Amen hell is real I'd repent of my sins to avoid that place it's external.
Hell is not real.
Dark and light are.
Some people are. Made. Up of dark matter others made up of light.
Others have a heart filled with light but act dark they are the ones who if repent end up in the light.
@@positivemindpositivelife1580 your choice. You don't have to believe it. But just remember if you find out your wrong, will you be able to accept the consequences because you didn't investigate more into it? Nobody is going to force you to change your mind. Just remember where you came from and how do you get back there?
I just retired after 38yrs as a cemetery sexton {fancy for gravedigger}. You said your grandparents got a 25 grave {plot} section. To the best of my experience we never buried more than two people in one grave , we called it "double deep". More than that its a15 foot plus hole, crazy. I would love to see the lot card on the graves that gives the price and layout. We had cards from 1915 or so were they paid $120 for 20 graves. Love your Christan walk . Praise the lord !
Sometimes rules don't apply to some đđ€·
I really respect the way you only talk about the guys who are gone and nobody who's still around. You're a solid guy Mike.
Once again, Thank You Michael. I grew up only a few blocks away from St.John's Cemetery. It was always known for famous mobsters. I am always amazed how you were able to leave that life and be willing to share the truth about it. I especially appreciate the fact that you de-romanticize the Cosa Nostra. I remember the Gotti Funeral. I was on my way to the gym and suddenly there's this huge NYPD detail and helicopters. Bananas.
@@michaelfranzese when i was a young man i got involved with some gangsters in st. Louis mo.they were associates of mr. @@michaelfranzese I have a personal favor to ask of you......it has to do with prayers for my health and my state of mind. I'm just a regular Italian-American like yourself, second generation, and would appreciate conversing with you
Murderes and gangsters should not be buired in concerted ground in cemeteries with statues of our lord on their graves they should be cremated it's a insult to decent people and our lord
Michael knows how to start off the week and end the week, perfectly..
My family "Cagianese" is buried there. I always noticed the Lucky Luciano mausoleum when visiting my dad. Amazing how many are buried there. Thank you for sharing.
I have family buried there too, Grazie family as well. A lot of them were mobsters in NY and PA. Pretty crazy knowing that.
Glad I found thisâŠ.My large Italian family also purchased a large plot many years agoâŠ.My Great Grandparents and several uncles are buried at St JohnsâŠReally enjoyed this!
I pickup dead bodies for a living, been doing this over 10 years and to this day I still get creeped out time to time especially late at night⊠after spending so much time at cemeteries as part of my job it would be really interesting to go visit that cemetery! Really enjoyed this video Michael.
Sounds like a one-sided conversation if you're trying to pickup a corpse đ€
@Apple Pie they are in homes, hotels, streets, hospital, trailer parks, assisted living⊠the only time they are already in a bag is when I pick them up from the hospital.
@Apple Pie thereâs usually always a KIN if there isnât a KIN then we just cremate and the county covers the cost.
@@timothyharshaw2347 lol
@Apple Pie ohhh I misunderstood your question⊠I work directly with a funeral home and we work coroner rotation every few months, so I do the pickups, fingerprinting, I dress decedents, casket decedents, I also work services and work gravesides as well.
I love that you are doing gangster graveyard. There is a show on CZcams called hollywood graveyard. This version is more unique . Mob movie and TV shows have become apart of our culture. Please make it a regular feature
So thankful you decided to CZcams! I love the mob stories and info straight from the source đđŸđđŸ
You are an incredibly captivating storyteller, I could listen to you talk forever! Very wise. Thank you for sharing your story.
Discovered this channel with the Chazz Palmenteri interview and Iâm obsessed!! Love hearing about mob culture and seeing someone progress past the life keep pushing forward and bless you and your family!!

My parents are buried in St Johnâs in a family plot thatâs three graves wide. Purchased in 1928 with perpetual care for $100.00. My mothers father was a stone mason. The large family mausoleum buildings on the hill when you drive in, are tremendous granite stone block structures. There are huge winged Angel monuments, and different style grave markers. Even the small 5-6 foot tall simple granite headstones are imposing. Iâve spent countless hours talking to my dad at our gravesite, bringing him a coffee to share while I empty my heart. The highlight of my cemetery visit is always as I walk amongst the other families tombs and graves, marveling at the construction and reading the names and dates. How some go back to the early 1900âs but have weathered the ravages of time. Itâs sad that with all of our modern innovation we canât duplicate the work of those early stonemasonâs. If you visit New York City take a trip to Woodhaven Blvd in Queens and visit St Johnâs Roman Catholic Cemetary. The history, grandeur and beauty youâll see along with the serenity youâll feel will leave an everlasting impression on you.
My Irish grandfather was a stone mason too
That's such an amazing and unique story. Thanks.
đđ§ą
Right, take Woodhaven Blvd. to Metropolitan Ave. through Glendale into Middle Village to get to St. John's Cemetery. Our grandparents are buried there and our great grandparents as well.đ
thank you for sharing this. đ€
Michael, both my grandparents, my mother's parents, Ernie and Grace Radlein are buried in St. John 's Cemetery. I remember seeing Genovese's and Gambino's mausoleums the times we visited our grandparents grave a number of times.
Michael, thank you so much for your transparency and for continuing to use your faith to inspire others. I know that you probably have a million comments that you see everyday, but I think I have a story that could further your podcasts, and that can be used to inspire others for years to come, and I would love to share it with you.
Michael love how you make different types of videos regarding your story with the mob.
Enjoy the Easter holidays with your family.
Fascinating, Iâve been watching your videos exponentially. Couldnât stop myself from subscribing. I donât agree with certain things but am a sinner myself and love the way you turned your life around, hopefully I can learn to also. Brilliant work. I canât wait for you to hit a million. Top man.
Mr. Franzese you reminded me a lot of my father. Very charismatic, highly respected and intelligent man. Thank you for sharing this great content.
Michael I just happened upon your channel on CZcams a few days ago, and I've been listening to your stuff almost nonstop. So entertaining and insightful. While I don't share your faith, I respect it, and I greatly appreciate what it's done for you and how it's helped enrich your life and drive you to do the same for others. Keep up the great work my friend.
I found Chazz Palmenteri by way of this channel. I'm listening to all 100+ videos. I knew he was a writer, actor, etc but omg he will tell you some crazy life stories.
We had some if these old cemeteries in Minn. Mom would drag me out there on holidays to lay flowers at a relative's grave. I'd sneak away and peek in the mausoleum windows, very eerie. You knew the occupants were well off residing in a mausoleum versus a headstone. Really interesting Michael, thanks and blessed Easter to you and yours.
Been fascinated by the mob and the Families since a kid. Bought a book called âPictorial History of the Mafiaâ, and that sparked my interest. Interesting to see where a lot of these guys are buried. Great to hear some of the personal insights you bring to this. Thoroughly enjoy your videos. Hoping for a million.
Always interested in listening to Mr.Franz, one of the most amazing storytellers I know.
Have several aunts, uncles and cousins buried in St. Johnâs .. St. Charles out on the Island in Farmingdale is also part of the NY Catholic dioceses and both my parents are out there since thatâs where we lived .. Left NY many years ago but did visit there last summer for a few days .. So many changes that I didnât recognize the place!!
Michael, great video as always, such a fascinating storyteller! Thank God that you can share your insight and expertise on a variety of topics!
I just discovered your CZcams channel. I absolutely love it. You are not doing this for sensationalism but as a history lesson.
Thank you.
Great video. Somehow it appeared in my youtube feed. Glad it did. So interesting !
Michael I really respect you. You turned your life around, became a well spoken and highly intelligent man, I enjoy listening to you as you express yourself so well not only on mob stories but on other issues of the day (Jussie Smollett, Will Smith). Keep up the good work!
Here in the Chicago area, we have Mt. Carmel, a 500 acre place with a long list of crime figures including the 3 Capone Brothers that are buried there. Across the street is another large cemetery, Queen of Heaven, where Accardo and many others are buried in an area known as Mafia Row. Thanks for an interesting video
My family is pretty close to Uncle AL.

Mr. Franzese, thank you for doing these videos. You remind us that there are one of two endings for those who join the mob - behind bars or six feet under. Congratulations on hitting one million.
Amazing video. Respect. Mafia men took care of their families and their neighbors. I wish they lived in my neighborhood; I know they'd take out the trash for sure. May these Mafia Dons all Rest in Peace. Respect

This was a great video, thanks. I remember passing that cemetery when i was a kid working in the city with my dad. My grandparents are buried there i will definitely go see them next time im in NY. Love your podcast. God bless!
It's amazing how small the world is, and the people you meet or become friends with. Had a friend and physical therapist who came from the Colombo Family, he broke away and only his mother kept in contact with him. He finally met with his father and relatives again before his father passed. And met with a old couple who told stories about Al Capone, his father was a sheriff in Wisconsin to a town Capnoe frequently went.
I went there 15 years ago when I lived in NYC for 6 months. Great experience, felt that people were watching me! You missed some good graves but picked out some gems.
Happy Easter Michael, and thanks for taking the time to create this video. Regarding Netflix, I know they are probably throwing a ton of money for the project but don't let them commercialize it anymore. Please try to keep it more personal and from the heart like you are now. You are bringing the story to a level never seen before. Thank you for that. God Bless you and your family. John.
Aloha Mike,
Solid report! You are a very respectful man, whose learned from past experience but never condemning! Keep up the good work!
I used to live in Hillside IL , there's a cemetery there where Sam Gianca, and Al Capone are buried several mobsters buried there. I've driven past this cemetery your discussing here, it is huge . The biggest cemetery I've ever seen.
My son is buried in hillside, also all the children that died in the great Chicago fire. It is a beautiful awesome cemetery.đą
Itâs Mt Carmel Cemetery
I came across your channel by sheer good luck and canât stop watching It.
I love how you make the stories so interesting and manage to relate it to everyday life. Thanks, god bless.
Happy Easter from New Zealand :)
I always appreciate your incite, especially regarding mausoleums, which isnt common here. We have our own family cemetary, we would play 'spotlight' as kids, and would be scared to go near there. My grandmother would tell us off, and say "dont be scared there, because that is your family" â€

Michael I always enjoy watching and listening to you, I actually got my family to start watching you also and they are enjoying watching you also, some of my family was in the Mafia years ago so I have always wanted to know more about that life, thank you for being so honest about your life, I truly enjoyed it, God bless you and your family
@Michael Jurek like you would know right?? You don't know this person at all..he could of had past family members that were associated or worked with some mafia individuals..
I'm from youngstown ohio, my grandfather was an associate. Not a made guy or anything, just a very tough steel mill worker that wasn't afraid to break the law for financial gain. He worked as security in whore houses, collected money, was muscle for sum of the heavy hitters in the area. If anyone is interested just look up youngstown mob here on CZcams. You'll find multiple videos on our crazy little town.
@Michael Jurek lol same here....Michal was a scumbag and still is
Interesting fact, Youngstown Ohio was known as "Little Chicago". Halfway between Chicago and new York. Stoppoff for mob people.
I've always been interested in Mafia stories. I never wanted to join but it always fascinated me. I've listened to CZcams videos about various life stories of some of them. You should tell some stories both funny and serious that you can without getting in trouble. I'd love to hear some of them or details or trivia stories not yet heard of on any platform of social media. I'd love to hear them. I don't know if you and Sammy are on speaking terms but you should both do that. I for one would watch each and every one of them. Thanx for what you do. You and Sammy both. I love it and the stories. Keep up the good work.
I just started watching you. Thank you. I've always been intrigued by and been interested in this kind of stuff. Love watching you and listening to you. God Bless
I love the nicknames all these guys have/had. Thatâs what I find most fascinating about this.
Looking good Micheal! This was a very interesting, educational, and entertaining upload. Loved it đ„ Thank you and have a great weekend.
Love how you just reeled through the names and told little stories. That is history, from a person that witnessed or was close to someone who knew these men. I was interested in the mob since I read The Velachi Papers, as a boy. Interesting history the Italians in America, no one had it easy coming to America. I always thought Carlo Gambino was the smartest of them all. A hundred years from now, they will still be making movies about you guys.
I love how u n Sammy tell those stories. So much info.
Stay safe.
Thank you âŁïžâ€ïž
I'm from Richmond Hill, and have friends and relatives there. Everytime I wiki a mobster there resting place is St Johns!

Mr. Franzese, kudos to you and the team at SLICES. The Calzone is amazing! btw a relative of mine met you at T.I. he was an official with Rosario Gambino for the soccer league there. Rosario and my relative are both Inter FC fans.
Interesting you picked a cemetery to discuss in this episode. That indicates some depth of thought, some culture, some appreciation of spaces and design. That is good on you as a mobster (past).
Forest Home Cemetery is probably the most renowned cemetery in Milwaukee among locals. I doubt it is a cemetery known outside of Milwaukee but among the parochial culture of Milwaukee Forest Home Cemetery has inspired local documentaries and CZcams tours.

Hello Michael! I wish you and your family a lovely Easter celebration. The video was interesting because it is a stark reminder that no matter the route we follow in life, all roads traverse 6 feet under. On a side note, I did not realise that my mom was intently listening to you while I played your videos. She asked why you discuss prison so much, and when I answered, she said quite seriously I hope he wasnât framed. I almost fell out of my chair. My mother is a prim, proper, polite Indian mother, almost Victorian in her ways, who taught us to have an ironclad respect for the law and to trust the system. You have made inroads with my tough mother. My compliments! She never listens to me.
Awsome comment! One of the reasons I love YT so much is these little stories of people I don't know and never will meet yet I get a little insight!
Thank you for this video, combining some of my fascinations with graveyards and the mafia. I would love to visit there.
I really enjoyed this podcast. I like walking through cemeteries and looking at the headstones.
Michael, huge fan of your videos! Always bringing us quality content! Iâm Greek and was wondering if you could do a video on any Greek mobsters you knew or your dad may have known? I know they also had a big presence in NYC and Philly.
I'll second that. Would love to hear something about the Greek mob in NY.
I third that đ
I have heard something about a Greek connection with the mob on one of the pod casts canât remember the details but they had some connection with the Greeks in Astoria maybe Michael knows something about it from memory it was something to do with gambling operations
Itâs funny how the Greek mob in NY was mostly just Italian Americans because the Greek mob is more relaxed abt their members
