Using My F150 Lightning to Power a Music Video Production

- I finally got to use my Ford F-150 Lightning Pro Power Onboard during a video shoot. My Ford lightning generator specs are 2.4 kw or 20 Amps at 120 volts and not the 9.6 kw version. Does this function make up for the F150 Lightning price? It sure is one of the best F150 Lightning feature.

Loved this video! Great stuff!
Hey Nick! Thanks man. Really appreciate that comment from you! 🙏😄
Another awesome video! Keep it up! My guess was 5 percent, so a little high. Watched a video of another guy camping for 3 days and using it to power his electric griddle and BBQ as well as his coffee maker. It was cool to see how little it used. Can't wait for mine!!
Hey thanks Jason! I guess it takes a lot of energy to make these heavy trucks roll down a highway. Lights and griddle is a piece of cake. LOL. Makes you rethink about the use of a truck. Hope you get yours soon!
Great video, I just got my XLT this week _ I can't figure out how to set the a 90%?limit while charging
Wow! Talk about coming in clutch! Thats insane. Just have a permit and youre set
Haha always get a permit! This will be the ultimate filmmaker vehicle! …In 3 years. There still some things to be worked out!
this was one of my main reasons for getting this truck - to use as a generator to power a mobile photo studio.. so im happy to see the draw wasn't that much. I too have the XLT SR so this makes me excited to get going...
one question: How did you light your frunk like that?!
Hey Stanton! Sorry for the late response. I get hyper focus right before a new video upload. Hey congrats on getting the second rarest Lightning! I lit the frunk with two YC Onion light bars. They are hidden so you're just seeing the light reflection. It should come like that stock right! LOL
@@EVTruckLOG definitely. Thanks for getting back to me. Happy trails!
Your standard range is getting 274 miles? That’s impressive
Hey Justin, yeh I drive mostly in suburbs and truck estimate has adapted to my tame driving. I'll have to do some real world test on the full range soon.
@@EVTruckLOG I assumed that was it. That’s still impressive honestly. My mileage will not be that lol 😂 I’m almost all hwy
@@ModernCowboy78 Depending on your highway speeds you should be able to expect 2-2.4 miles/kwh then multiple that with 98 standard or 131 extended for your range. Keeping in mind that starting with 100% charge running till zero. That's not recommended. 15-80% SOC Is recommended. so that's just 65% of your total battery capacity.
Se!!!!!! You called your truck a car! They’re about to roast you! I’ll pray for you friend 🙏
But for real, this is awesome
Dang! I think that’s strike two! 😂😂 Haha thanks Larry!
Did you originally have the 311a base on your MSRP? Is this one the 312 ($9000 add on)?
Dude that's impressive. Good thing LED lights doing require much
Haha good thing! This lower end truck is rated so I could plug in 40 Godox SL60. 😆. Higher end can plug 160 of them.
@@EVTruckLOG you can film for a week
U can night fish on kayak and light from the parking lot
@@nVuFilms 🤔😂
That was really cool idea
Like these living with the truck and using the EV truck videos
Should do a part 2 running all the plugs in your truck at once how long does it last
but park in your garage or at a pump so when it dies your safe
Haha thank you! There will be part 2, 3 and 4… with different topics around this onboard generator.
@@EVTruckLOG winter is coming and folks will have power outages
This is a great time for you and your video style to share results of running different products and surviving off the truck
Even running a cord from the truck to the backyard to cook or in the house for a fan or space heater to stay warm with the truck in the garage folks will be so excited to see these things because that's what Ford promised
Keep up the great work that CZcams grind is tuff but your have a good style going on your videos hang in there you can do it
@@drjones694 those are some great ideas. Yeh CZcams is tough for sure trying to ride that SEO. Gotta keep going. I appreciate the encouragement. Let’s go 2022! 🙏🤜
Ok quick question.. u said u have the standard range which is 230 miles, I see 274 miles, how did that happen?
Haha you found the Easter egg. That’s a whole video in itself and I will be making that video soon. Basically if you drive under 60 mph and experience traffic a lot in you commute, truck will give you a longer range estimate.
@@EVTruckLOG wow!!! That explains my range (my lightning arrived last week btw) I drive like a bat out of hell and it gives me 209 range at 100% lol
@@michealton haha it is addicting once you feel a 6000 +lbs mass move that fast. Glad you got yours and enjoying the speed!
So the cost to wire it to power your house I was quoted $9200 by sunrun
There should be a way to check watts drawn from the vehicle app.
Hey Stephen! I’ll have to check that out. Thanks!
To clarify, I don't know if there is. If there isn't, it's a feature Ford should add.
Good video and good way to make extra cash to help pay off your truck
Haha gonna need it! Thanks for watching it! That pays for it too 😁🙏🙏
Hi, how much it cost you to charge your truck?
Depends on the charger and how fast I want it but CCS chargers around $43 for full charge and cheapest slower level 1 charger at $11 for full charge. There are lot of free chargers in my area too. Depends on where you live. I don’t have a home charger so I’ll be making a video about this soon.
@@EVTruckLOG what about to charge from home charging station. How much it add for one charge to your bill?
@@vasylkurysh3013 so standard range Lightning is 98 kWh battery. You will multiply how much you pay per kWh at home by 98 to get a rough idea. For example if I am paying $0.11 per kWh with my power company, that would be $10.78 for full charge from 0-100%. Of course that’s a rough estimate and there are some power loss during charge. I’ll do that experiment soon but hope that gives you some idea.
Over $5/gal!?!? Where are you? I just filled up last week for $3.89
Can't wait to get my Lightning so I can forget what gas costs.
Haha maybe they jacked up the gas price sign so no one pumped during our video shoot. That was in Washington DC. It's much lower than that now. Still doesn't beat electricity and free chargers. Hope you get your Lightning soon!
I thought you had the standard range battery? That said 274 Miles of range at 94%
If I keep using this as a generator, that est range gonna drop fast. 😆 Right now I’m averaging 2.8 mi/kWh
I’m wondering the same. I have a SR and my range is never over 200 miles when full. I do drive a lot of highway miles though.
Gotta remember the EPA rating is combined highway and city range. The more you drive in the city, the higher the range will be. The more highway driving, the lower the range will be. If I remember right, the EPA rating for the SR city is 255 miles, and for highway is 200 miles. The fact he has 274 miles estimate...I am guessing a lot of stop and go traffic lol. The optimal efficiency speed on the Ford Lightning is apparently 33 mph.
when you're bored with your Ford, I'm willing to take it off your hands 🤥
Haha I’ll let you know in the winter 😁
