I just wanted to get this short video out to talk about the new Gitzo Legende tripod and backpack that are currently up for funding on Indigogo!

As a wildlife photographer I'm always interested in products that aim for a lighter footprint on the natural world and the new Legende tripod and backpack from Gitzo aims to be just that. The whole idea behind them, being that once purchased the photographer will get LIFE LONG servicing and replacement parts, meaning your tripod can stay by your side for many years to come!
The tripod being a traveller design is small and compact, with a fully featured ball head. I've actually been using a traveller tripod for years for filming on this channel as they are so light and easy to carry around. I'm looking forward to swapping out mine for this sweet new retro version! (my old one has been passed onto a good friend)
Created using sustainable materials but with a fantastic retro aesthetic, I think the guys have done a great job on these and although the backpack isn't really focused for photographers with loads of gear and won't replace my other Lowepro/Gitzo bags, I certainly know I'll be using this when heading into town or giving lectures. For those with smaller kits, or just for those days when you want a camera along side your normal daily stuff thats bags very nice and look cool too!

I really hope we see more companies looking to take up the challenge for more sustainable and environmentally friendly products that are committed to long term use, rather than the throwaway society we seem to be in these days! Nice one Gitzo.

Looks cool. They used to make a tripod called "Ocean traveller" it was uber cool, yet expensive!

the camera bag seems ice but not very well done . no protection against rain make it hard for this kind of price

The faux leather on the backpack means that after a while and it will flake and look disgusting, making it unappealing to the owner and most certainly will be thrown away. So none of this is sustainable for the protection of the environment and it won’t last long. If they wanted to make such a thing they could have used natural materials for the straps like in military backpacks. All this “we care for the environment” goes out of the window and it’s major hypocrisy when you introduce such material.
That does look nice and compact and useful. The modern 80's look? and the vegan friendly leather er'm plastics? haha you would make a good salesman. I'm still looking for a good tardis version compact backpack that can house my Sigma 300-800mm and tripod :-)
Absolutely! Modern 80's like... It looks like it was designed back in the day but with new materials. Also the Vegan friendly leather is a recycled material as is 65% of the bag!
Tardis bags... Hmm the 300-800 is BIG. I mean the Manfrotto TLB lens bag might work, aimed with just housing a big lens or the Lowepro tele trekker 600 (I think thats what it's called!) Another option would be to use a "real" hiking bag that is a single long section, with lots of loops on the side for tripod etc. I have so many bags for different jobs, just picked up a Lowepro powder 500 that I will be using for hikes/camera days as it fits loads of personal kit alongside my 300mm 2.8 and pro bodies, but also picked up an Arc'teryx 30L FL the other week for hiking and use with a single lens, thing is like bulletproof and such a nice compact light design for hauling kit especially hiking or climbing! As my girlfriend says, I have far too many bags!

It feels like the color of the backpack doesn't match the natural environment and camera gea too much. It is a pity that there is no black or dark green color.
Well, that’s cost me then!! I picked up the tripod along with the mini traveller to accompany my series 3 systematic. Do you think the mini traveller could work with getting low for shore birds with a lighter lens like the 500mm PF? As a sort of makeshift ground pod?
As an owner of the Mini traveller as well I do use it often for gear far out weighing its apparent capacity! I’ve used a D850 + 70/200 + 1.4 TC on it and find it works great for ground level work. The tripod doesn’t bend and I think it would work on the shoreline with a 500 PF!

Wife got me the backpack and its nice for day travelling but terrible for hiking with a lot of gear, Can hold a R5 and 100-500 and 1 more lens or the A1 and the 200-600 and 1 more lens but not much more except using all the extra pockets for nds and batteries etc. Didn't know it was a vegan thing I'l make sure to pack extra jerky inside LOL

The repairs are free for the life of the product, that's the whole point!
