  • Most of us have probably shared the disgusting experience of stepping in dog waste, and one of Washington’s Girl Scout Troops is working hard to fix this icky issue!
Superintendent Reykdal recently received a letter from Olive in Girl Scout Troop 40036. Olive and her troop are working towards a Bronze Award for making a difference in their community. As part of this process, the troop needed to identify a problem, study it, and propose a solution.
The troop ultimately chose to focus on the impact of dog waste on local schools and neighborhoods. They spoke with different experts about the issue and developed a plan to distribute informational materials in public places to educate pet owners and change behavior.
Olive and Troop 40036’s ask of school leaders? Put up signage to educate pet owners. Watch Superintendent Reykdal’s response to Olive and Troop 40036 here.
