  • Parents absolutely love the Ikea Antilop High Chair because it is cheap and easy to clean but as an paediatric occupational therapist I honestly hated this Ikea High Chair. I found when babies use the Antilop High Chair they are restless and find it difficult to sit, as they always fall to the side. However, because this high chair is loved so much by parents, there are now accessories including a wooden adjustable footrest which can be purchased which has changed my view of the Ikea Antilop highchair.
    If you're thinking about buying the Ikea Aniltop High chair you must watch this video to hear the pros and cons of this high chair, which will help you decide if it is the best high chair for you.

    I used this chair for many years at my private day care at home. For this price you can't expect more. It was ok for my purpose because I needed chairs which are not expensive, easy to clean and don't spend much place when I didn't need them. For my own children I had another chair but as an extra chair for the grandparents, in another room, in the garden or something else it is a good alternative. Many toddler sat in this chair and I never had any problems with eating. But the toddler were usually older than 6 month and were able to sit. I never used it for 6 month old babies.

    My baby and I love this chair, in the US it’s priced at $20 but I bought it secondhand for $15 and it already came with the removable infant pillow support and cover (about $10 if bought new from the store) which in the US looks different from the one in your pictures, the one I have can be inflated or deflated for more or less support. I did have to buy a separate foot rest for $25. All in all I paid $40 which is a great price in my opinion. I would also say you don’t need the silicone tray mat since the chair itself is super easy to clean. I noticed that most of the other, and infinitely more expensive, high chairs all have a reclined back which I hate and so does my son because it makes it so much harder to reach their food and feed themselves. I guess to each their own but I would 100% recommended this high chair for price, ease of clean, practicality, and versatility

      @ Laura Barrientos that sounds like a great buy! When the footrest is used with this highchair it makes it a good, affordable and easy to clean highchair.

    When I worked in a childcare centre we went from Ikea with 5 point straps to wooden ones which are the biggest pain to clean, id rather the Ikea with the accessories even if it cost the same

    Help! My 13m old is very small and not very strong yet (medical things) so he still leans a little to one side and eats more with one hand and scoots forward alot so back bent and each time his bum is red and kind of marked after feeds. I tried adding towels and rags like another video you did suggested and didn't help enough for sides and def not butt and back thing just made it harder to put tray on. It's a old Integunity high chair. He's about to start ot and pt therapies and on wait lists for speech and therapy. He eats but doesn't seem as comfortable as he should be in it

    Ikea Canada doesn't have all the extra's like you do in Australia so folks need to check before they buy.

      She mentioned in her other video that she recommends the Tripp trapp.

    • @EmmaHubbard
      @EmmaHubbard  Před 3 lety +2

      Hi Divya, I recommend the Stokke Tripp Trapp Chair. To see why i recommend this chair you can check out this video czcams.com/video/pqK0mBYuTd0/video.html
      The Chicco highchair is just as expensive as the Tripp Trapp and the Tripp Trapp has greater adjustability and growth. The Joie is slightly cheaper but has limited adjustment. Also it has a weight limit of 15 kg and therefore your bub may outgrow this by 2 years of age, (they will still need a high chair os some sort at 2 years of age).

    The harness is also hard to adjust...:( where can I buy these 3 additional accessories? So after 15 kg, should I stop using it once my baby reaches that weight? Any height limits? Would love to see a video on raising bilingual/trilingual children. Thanks:) greetings from Boston

    • @EmmaHubbard
      @EmmaHubbard  Před 3 lety

      Hi Pri, not sure about the US but I would try googling 'ikea antilop high chair accessories' to find a local supplier. I would stop using the chair when your bub hits 15kg. Not sure about height limits. Thanks for your recommendation about the video.
