    My dead 2006 Mini Cooper sounds exactly like urs @ the begining of the video. There has been no codes & i just rebuilt this engine & it has 20mins idling time on it, & then the nxt day it died. You made a great video & the Fuel Pump looks like an easy swap.....

      Sounds like a good candidate for a fuel pump! Can you hear the pump prime at all when you just turn the key before starting it? Once I put in the new pump I could hear it much more clearly prime and I knew it had fixed the issue before I even turned the car on

    Great work Nick. I have a question. What were the symptoms of your Fuel pump going bad?

  • @ninthcirclerecords4732

    Mine is doing the same exact thing out of the blue I filled up the gas tank and when I went to roll out the bitch won’t start up it cranks but won’t fully ignite. Only 60K miles on her. I tried to reset the ECU and all that computer shit. I think it’s the same exact problem as yours had
    I will know more tomorrow when I get it to my guy. Thanks for posting this. I was freaking the Phuck out all weekend. I just bought it less than a month ago... Zero issues until this.

    Hello,
    I have an issue on my R50 2002 (non s)
    When you do cold start car don’t wants to react to acceleration pedal it starts to jurk, but enginge is still works
    After 15-20sec everything is back to normal, but i think thaht it should be more powerfull more reaction to acceleration pedal, and take less fuel..
    No fault codes, changed spark plugs, plug wires, fuel filter and still works the same,
    Anny ideas ?
    Thanks

    Hi! I have a 04 Cooper which misfires when idling - changed spark plugs, ignition coil pack/wires, cover head gasket now thinking it could be the fuel pump! any ideas? ☺️

    • @nickdoeseverything431
      @nickdoeseverything431  Před 2 lety

      I’m not sure what else it could be! It’s a fairly cheap option and probably worth a shot at this point! I’d say maybe try a new fuel filter first. It’s the same process as this video, but under the cover on the passenger side of the vehicle instead of the drivers side (or the opposite if you are in a right hand drive region).

      I can't say for sure. In fact, I've never seen a diesel Mini from this generation! I suspect we did not get them here in the US. I would use your VIN to search a part number through a local parts store or dealer

    This just happened to my mini today and i got the pump out and hooked it up to a 9v and its still runs, could it still be bad and not be pumping strong enough to create the pressure for the system? The auto parts stores are closed till the morning, was trying to diagnose if it's the pump or something else. Any input would be appreciated!! Thanks! Oh I also saw a cut ziptie in the tank which im obviously gonna clean out maybe it sucked that up temporarily?? its got 130k on it so it's a tired pump for sure

    • @nickdoeseverything431
      @nickdoeseverything431  Před 3 lety

    I finally got around to doing both this and the filter. This video helped a lot. Unfortunately my fuel gauge reads exactly 50% and won't change. I definitely dropped that pump plug into the gas but aired it out. If I forgot to plug something in I would think the gauge would read 0, not exactly 50%. Any advice is appreciated.

      There might've also been a sticker on the float lever that you'll need to remove (mine had one)

    • @MrManBuzz
      @MrManBuzz Před rokem

      Late comment I know but the reason for that is the thank actually has two floats, one either side of the tank. One is on the fuel pump and the other is at the bottom of the filter housing. It probably just needed to refill itself.

      It has some kind of o ring on it, but yeah most fuel senders have connections in tank. Seems sketchy to me, but that's how they do it!

    • @nickdoeseverything431
      @nickdoeseverything431  Před 3 lety

      After plugs, wires, coil pack, and fuel pump it definitely idled smoother and I picked up an mpg or two. It's more responsive, but since mine is a base r50 it's certainly not fast. I would try everything I did in this video before doing injectors. If you are still having idling issues then maybe go for injectors. Always best to start with the cheaper fix!

    Thanks for the video, my fuel pump is starting to act up, and wanted to see if replacing it will make me want to stab myself... looks like an easy job (fuel filter was way worse).
    Btw, the reason why it's so dusty down there is that it's open from the bottom so dust from the street gets yeeted in there.
