Happy new year everyone ❤️
I have shot many .357 magnums and I prefer my Ruger security six but I never see a video with anyone shooting one. Maybe my preferences are weird lol
I've had the same Taurus revolver probably around 15 years or more but with a 6" barrel. I was using it when I was shooting in the bullseye competition league in my club. I was shooting handloaded 38spl, wadcutters. Long barrel, full underlug, not much recoil. I've also shot a few thousand rounds of 357 mag with it, no issues. I know a lot of shooters out there are complaining about Taurus quality issues, but, I own 2 revolvers and 2 pistols manufactured by Taurus and I never had any issues. And I'm old enough to know the difference between single and double action shooting and that wasn't double action, bwahahaha.

When you pull the hammer back and shoot that's shooting single action.
Yup
@@WHOTEEWHO You kept saying you were shooting in double action when you were shooting in single action? Slip of the tongue?
@@normandennis9420 He just doesn't care he's cool like that
😊😊😊
I shoot triple action
Single action - cocked / Double action - hammer down.
There's something about revolvers that make them timeless. I don't care how old the technology is, they just work.
I like revolvers more than semi autos.
The short stroke piston system is a very old design but it’s still be used in modern firearms.
Age doesn’t matter when it come to engineering
@@perplexingperceptions8888 I hate those magazines in semis when it comes to pressing down the bullets. They way you insert bullets in revolvers is more pleasant feeling.😂
Revolvers are definitely better
Look at the price Difference COLT PYTHON vs any PLASTIC GUN you could buy 3 plastic guns for 1 COLT PYTHON the PYTHON will be still around 200 YEARS from now plastic guns recycled
As a Marine who cleans Every time, my heart sunk to my ass when you said your gun had never been cleaned. Almost dropped the J but recovered, laughed and enjoyed your vid. Stay Safe Everyone.
I hardly ever clean guns. I shot one time with a guy who cleaned his guns every time he shoots....made us stay at the range and clean for an extra hour.....needless to say I never shot with him again 😆
@@WHOTEEWHO that sounds way too anal for me. When I get back home after shooting I spray the guns down with a carbon cleaner and just let them sit for a while. A couple of passes with a bore snake and some Q-tips and I’m done. Thanks for taking the time to comment, your videos make our day-says thousands of other guys like us

"I am going to shoot all these double action" Proceeds to shoot all single action....
This actually was no surprise to me. Ive owned several 357 wheel guns, including the colt python, king cobra, S&W 357s, and the Taurus 357s, along with a sprinkling of comparable branded 38 specials. As far as performance, I learned a long time ago, there are comparative offerings to be had out there, that will shoot just as good or better than the python for a lot cheaper price, and your test proves that. Bravo
Something a lot of people don't know is that back in the day, both Smith & Wesson and Taurus were owned by the same parent company and the parent company wanted a more affordable revolver to sell and tasked Taurus with partnering up with S&W to copy/build a revolver based on the S&W K-framed revolvers of the day, so the model-66 Taurus was actually based on the S&W model-66 revolvers.
There was no "partnering up" between S&W and Taurus. Back in the 80's and 90"s a British Investment firm owned stock in both S&W and Taurus. That was the extent of ownership; each company was independent. The Taurus 66 is NOT based on the S&W 66, which is a smaller 6-shot K-frame. The Taurus 66 is a 7 shot, medium frame larger than the S&W K frame; The Taurus 66 is closer to the S&W 686 Plus L-Frame(7-shot), or the Ruger GP 100 7 shot 357 Mag.
@@63DW89A I believe he is mistaken on the model, I have a Taurus 669 that you couldnt tell apart from a S&W, only difference is the hammer spring is a coil on one and a leaf on the other. The 669 was 6 shot.
@@SWMissouriOutdoors Taurus intentionally makes revolvers with similar external dimensions to S&W models. This makes it much easier to find holsters, speedloaders, etc to fit. While Taurus uses a DA mechanical system that functions like S&W, the internals on a Taurus revolver are different than S&W. The springs on Taurus are all coil around a post or strut, while S&W uses a variety of leaf and coil arrangements. For example, the S&W trigger return spring is a coil inside a sliding box which also actuates the hammer safety block. The Taurus trigger return is a simple coil around a post arrangement, and the transfer bar safety is actuated directly by the trigger. S&W blocks the hammer for a safety, while Taurus, like Ruger, uses a transfer bar to strike the firing pin. I'd say the S&W internals are a bit more elegant mechanically than Taurus, while the Taurus internals are simple, functional, tough, reliable and as easy to tune for best DA trigger action as S&W or Ruger. Always fascinating to see how different designers achieve the same function, each using their own unique methods!
@@63DW89A I know this is a late reply, but I just purchased a taurus 66 and trying to find out what holsters fit appropriately for the revolver, of course nothing is advertised as fitting a taurus 66 specifically. I'm looking for a chest holster rig to take along while rifle hunting.
@@SniperWolf94214 how do ya like it? Taurus is the only .357 mag I can afford right now. I'd like a revolver but want to make sure it's reliable. Part of me thinks I should just get a .45 ACP S&W Shield semiauto and call it a day.
I’d be just as happy with the Taurus myself.
plus you get 1 extra round which is nice
Yes you will. A good Taurus is great.
Love my tracker 627. 500 cash a year ago ahen prices surged. Good lock up and chambers 7 as well in 38 spec and 357 mag. Great cartridges make all the difference. Taurus can handle the +p 38 and my favorite buffalo bore cartridges
@@devinking6677 I can buy 3 Taurus 357 for what the Colt python cost and have 3 more rounds in total!
@@romanmorgan1434 You mean 15 more rounds. 3 Taurus = 21 rounds 1 Colt = 6 rounds
4:20 "And I am gonna shoot all these double action, too." Proceeds to shoot all in single action.
Taurus has a lot of haters but I've owned 6 of their revolvers and never had any issues. The Tracker 357 mag with 6.5" barrel is one of my favorites. The model 44 in 44 mag with the 8 3/8" barrel is a winner too. Both accurate, the Tracker is surprisingly lightweight and thin for a big 7 shot stainless revolver. Paired with hardcast ammo they both make great woods guns.
I've owned nine, six revolvers and 3 auto's down to only three revolvers now, all are good pistols.
My Model 66 shoots better than I can, and I'm not too bad.
Sure, I would like to have a Python, I would also like to have a Korth, but with those prices, it's like the difference between a Patek Philippe, a Rolex, and a Timex.
They all tell the time, but the first two do it in much better style, while the latter does the same job, but without all the fanfare, and flattening of your wallet!
They're nice to dream about, but I can much better afford that Timex!
I own I own 6 Taurus revolvers and the one that cost me the most is the 942 magnum. Why many will ask simple I wanted it that bad and it was going for 600+ on gun broker. It is now my pantry basket gun lol. But I got a 66 Mag of Christmas and the trigger pull is smooth as butter. I actually like it better than my 608. With that being said. I sincerely hope i never have to use any of them to defend my home. That iron coming out the barrel sure will poison some one and let them lay down and behave.
That was single action who-tee! You got your chootin’ lingo corn-fused!
I have owned Pythons, S&W 28s and 27s, Ruger Security Sixes and a few different Taurus revolvers over the years. The Colts, Smiths and Rugers were fine, reliable revolvers and there are a few I wish I still had. The Tauruses started appearing early in the 70s, and were, for the most part, abysmally built and some were downright terrible. I got to the point that I wouldn't even give a Taurus handgun a second look at my local gunstore. That changed in the last few years, however, and I have shot several of my friend's Taurus pistols and revolvers, even disassembling a few to check for internal quality and have been impressed. So much so, in fact, that my present EDC is a Taurus 605 2" stainless that has proven to be one of the best handling firearms I have ever owned. I have fired everything in it from super soft handloads for my wife to practice with all the way up to the Buffalo Bore 180 gr. hard cast .357 mag load with a gas check! That last load kicks like the proverbial mule, but it's what I carry with me when we go out to the woods here in Wyoming. Taurus has turned their company around in a big way, and I hope they are able to continue to give us Americans such good value for our hard-earned money!
My EDC is also a 605.
My dude you where definently shooting those wheel guns in single action not double action lol. Great video though.
😆😆😆
10:20 “Low left on everything” happens when one PULLS the trigger rather than squeezing it....as your finger curls, it pulls the barrel down and to the left.
Actually the training pros say low left is tightening the fingers or jerking/slapping the trigger
All these years I've had the whole single action double action thing backwards lol
Good to hear that you got that cleared up. How's your driving, in America you drive on the right hand side of road . Use a Sharpie and Mark your hands R + L
😉😉😁😎 lol
BEEN WAITING FOR THIS REVIEW! THANK YOU!! Ive got a 6" Taurus 66 it's a great gun and for the price, you can't beat it!! I love it!!

Perfect timing for this video. I've been thinking of getting the Taurus 692 model in .357. Thanks WTW.
I am a Taurus fan
Awesome shooting and awesome video WTW, as always! Thanks fir sharing bro and have a great week! See you tomorrow!💪🏻
Nice vid. I've never had much to do with revolvers or handguns here in Oz. They look awesome though. That colt looks like a beast!!! 👍👍
That was a fun video! My wife carries that Taurus in a .22mag, 8 round. It's fun to shoot. I wouldn't want her shootin at me with it!
Thanks for sharing this video with us!
My first hand gun deer was with a 357 llama commeche love the magnum.
Awesome!
Single action
Double action
They both give
Satisfaction!!😎
I own the Taurus 66 myself with 6" bbl. Glad you agree on the trigger; mine breaks like glass. That is also true of my back up (hammer-less) Taurus 651 5-shot .357/.38. Whatever trigger geometry Taurus has figured out, it makes for amazing wheel guns.
I have never heard of the Taurus 651. Interesting. I love all my Taurus guns.
Good video! Nice guns for sure. I have a Taurus 692 with a ~6" barrel, wish I could shoot it as well as you shot both of those guns. Well done! Take care.
definitely enjoyed this comparison! its helping me make a revolver buying decision
I have a rare model 607-357 mag that looks similar, it was made in 1998 for only 2 years and replaced with the 608.
It's polished stainless, same sights as your Mod 66 Fr & Rr, ported 4" barrel, 7 shot... But it's built on a large 44 magnum frame, it's 10 ounces heavier, I use 38 Spec. +P+ HP's but due to the size I'd shoot any Magnum round, it's accurate and fun to shoot.
Love ya, bro! Even when you sneak in Opposite Day without telling us!! 😂
😆😆😆
Used my M-66 4" to get my carry here in Tennessee. Hope the Taurus represents! I love 💘 mine. Wish I could afford the Python. Thanks 😊 Adam
66 is a very nice revolver.
randyadams03 I’m doing the same in east Tn, except with a 1-7/8” barrel S&W 360. I carried a model 85 Taurus for over a decade. 99% of the negative comments about Taurus pistols are people who’ve never had one and are just parroting back what they’ve heard or they had a first gen Millennium pro made around 2 decades ago. I had the first model of the millennium pro in .40 and I had light primer strikes constantly, never a FTF , just repeated light strikes on the primers. I traded it off for the model 85. I’ve owned quite a few since then and haven’t had issues with any of them. My 809c has 5,000+ rounds through it. Yes the trigger isn’t competition level, but it goes bang every time my booger hook pulls the bang switch
@@stephen_crumley thanks, I get the same from my friends. They say your Old TT33-C Tokarve no good, my Spanish Bm9 , Llama. 45. And my 2 Italian Berreta 92s not exactly current. I need your youtube name please.

Why, just to say you had one! I got a model 66. Love it but don't shoot enough to be proficient. Got a $150 H&R 32 mag 5 shot that my wife could shoot!! Ammo is kinda expensive but sure shoots sweet, and recoil isn't so much an issue. As a good friend of mine who has passed on said "a 22lr will kill the biggest hog in the pen!"
I like your analogies. Great video
Country boy gettin r done! Great job. Thank you. You just helped me decide which 357 to buy.
Great video bro really enjoyed watching your video keep up the good work fam
Appreciate you watching bigtime
Great job !!
Fun video indeed! Thanks for this one!
This confirms what I have been saying all along....Taurus makes a great, inexpensive revolver. I collect Smith & Wesson revolvers but the Taurus is equal to them in performance. You should clean your revolver....
Will watch this channel again. Well done.
Thanks for watching!
I’ve got a Taurus Tracker 627 and Man she’s a beauty of a gun to me. A real love affair and a shooter 😁
I had a 627 and sold it then bought a 608. I will not be parting with it any time soon. I got me a model 66 on gun broker the other day but am sure the 608 is better. I am just a Taurus kind of guy.
Think that I would take the Taurus.
👍👍💥💥💥
I would take the python then sell it and buy some more Smitth & Wessons lol
or one 945
I’d take the python but then again it’s cause my dad has an original blued 4” and I do t have to pay for it lol
Lol yeah you take the Taurus. The Colt is mine.
Beautiful Revolvers. Nice
Always good when one of your video's come up, keep going WHO_TEE_WHO.
Thanks Nick
I had a 357 Colt Python back in 1980 the barrel was a little longer than what you have there. It was a wonderful pistol, it had a real nice balance!""" It cost $344 brand new""" it was a blue Barrel. That pistol I had ,it's worth about""" $3,500 now"""
No way I'd pay the Python price. I'll stick with my GP100.
Callin it like you see it, playin them where they land. thats why I dig your channel.
great video, I miss my 7 shot Taurus 357 mag. 1 of my best shooting revolvers, wish I had not sold.
Hey I know the feeling. Funny thing I sold my 627 and bought a 708. Just got a 66 off gunbroker for $450. Not bad. I have bought and sold a few Taurus primarily for barrel length I sold my 856 and 605 snubby for the 3" inch barrel guns. I still have my 942 Mag and 905 in snubby. We can make comparisons all day, but one thing I do know is that a crook will not like that 357 round hitting him.
I got to get down there and pick up that brass one day soon great video brother and Paul the dude. Be safe and GOD BLESS y’all Amen 🙏
Great video and great comparison
Thanks for watching Michael
My wife bought me a Taurus 66 used for xmas a few years back, its been super reliable and a fun gun to plink!!
They're both nice guns and the comparison was interesting. Thanks.
Most down to earth shooting channel . Thanks bud I enjoy your videos .
Appreciate you watching 🙏🙏🙏. I'm just a regular ol dude. No hidden agendas
Great comparison !!

Do yourself a favor and clean that Taurus. Especially the cylinder, underneath the extractor Star.
A dirty revolver CAN cause a stoppage. Seriously.
Exactly!
better bench rest it overnight youl shoot and one jacket will stay in barrel and shoot the bullet guts and the next will stand the top strap strait up and blow out side of cylinder
with next round running into jacket
you could hurt somebody standing next to you
Ten years ago, I used to test the .38 spl between Colt cobra and Tautrus m817 with 2" barrels all. In 15 yards, the Taurus m817 was more accurate than the Colt cobra. I tested by the Wad cutter cartridges. I sold the Taurus 817 last year, but I bought the Taurus raging bull 44 mag instead.
I haven't watched yet but I have to comment: That Colt sure is a beauty! I'm rooting for it!!
😍😍😍
I’ve got a Rossi 357mag and it’s fun to shoot and crazy accurate as well
my old python from the 80's had a hair trigger and it was dead nut center mass . could shoot out the X ring
The Taurus 66 in stainless with 6" barrel was my first revolver. Swapped grips with a Pachmayr Decelerator. 7 shots, smooth double action, featherlight single action.
Like many 1911 makers, the prices for Colt and Smith 'n' Wesson revolvers are too much for me to justify purchase; so my second revolver was a Ruger SP101.
It would be interesting to see each gun chronographed to see if there is any velocity difference between colt and Taurus ?
From what I've seen on the internet the Pythons generate lower than average velocities compared to other manufacturers. Don't know why though.
@@perplexingperceptions8888 I won't swear to it, but I think colt cylinder gaps run a bit larger than most
If that Taurus has a better trigger than the Colt, I would take it and have it looked at, cause my Colt trigger brakes like class, DA or SA. I have the Taurus as well {only in 6"} shoots well, but not like the Colt. Nice video.
first pistol i ever bought was a model 66. it was used beat all to hell..cleaned it up and still my go to for almost everything
Alil update that pistol did not survive a house fire 2 weeks ago
I have a 66 in 6" and really like it! (Its not broken in yet) JPM in W-S,N.C.
Love all of my Taurus revolvers !!
This is going to be good👀 Love wheel ☸ guns😌🙏🏻
Nice shootin’ Tex ahhh excuse me who tee who. Another cool video!
Thanks for watching Martin!
I wish I could find those hollow points anywhere in stock.
I just hiked with my 66 earlier this afternoon. I like it tho I haven't shot it a whole lot because of shortage of ammo tho.
Love the analogy. Lost a lot of my grandparents guns. Family takes n sells
Looking about 3 Taurus 66s for 1 Python. I really wanted a Smith 686 and I can’t swing that without trading in. Never really owned a revolver so I decided to get a Taurus 66 because of the adjustable sights and similar frame size just to see if it’s worth me buying a more expensive revolver. Still seems like a great riding gun/fishing gun
The accidental high shot reminds me of that scene in Super Troopers. “Oh I wouldn’t worry ab that one…” 😅
I used to have a Taurus model 66 and it was a fine shooter. Thanks for the video
I would prefer a roundish group to a stringy one, that would put the hits much closer to point of aim, try this shoot 5 or 6 rounds with support, Mark the average impact point, and then mesure the total distance from AIP (add all mesurements) then multiply with the longest distance. That would give You a value to compare. 5 shots very well centred within. 5 inch and a flyer 2 inches away would give You a value of 9. Or 6 shots well centred 1 inch away would give you a 6 Which would You hunt with, the one with a pesky flyer from time to time, or one that are consistent 1 inch away from POA? BUT if You could find that chamber who gives the flier, leave that to the last shot, it would not be needed, but mark it.
That was a good one Chuck. I'm going to add the Taurus mod. 66 to my arsenal, thanks
Nice Shoot’en WTW, and as always a great video. I’d take the Taurus any day if I shot it better. I’ve shot the Taurus with 8” ported barrel and it was a TACK DRIVER. I’d like to see you do a hunting video with the 357 MAG.
Rewatched to carefully check every shot. Rewound in first group of 38s thinking I was crazy.
I guess one lesson is once we shoot so much we are on auto pilot - either good or bad.
Grandpa left me a Colt 1903. Priceless.
Great analogy.
Good video!
For accuracy testing, try sitting on the ground and resting your forearms on your knees. It seems to help my groups a lot.
I had a Python (stupidly sold it) and I can attest that there's no other wheel gun as accurate or smooth operating. Granted all gun prices have sky rocketed lately. But I attribute that to the devaluation of the dollar. Think of it as what used to be worth a dollar is now worth ten cents.
It may be that the shooter's familiarity with the Taurus provided a better group.
Having fired a Ruger .357 The action is not as smooth but accuracy is on par. I'd dare say it's closer to a Python but still by a wide margin.
I missed the chat brother but I got my notifications back for CZcams
Hey Randle
The analogy at the end of the video was not weird, it was a very good analogy.
Excited for this one
Imagine how much better the groups would be if you sighted them in first.
Shooting groups has NOTHING to do with sighting in!!!!
Your statement makes no sense.
20 years ago I had a Taurus 44 magnum with the 7 1/8th inch barrel, I don't remember what model it was, but after shooting just 18 rounds out of it I could not get the spent cases out of that cylinder. I have never owned another Taurus since, not even a semi auto. I figured that if I can't shoot more than 18 rounds then I don't want another one.
"I need to shoot revolvers more" don't we all ! , truth is we All need to shoot anything More ! . Nice one WTW , very interesting Thanks for the info . Shoot Straight , Stay Safe & Stay Well
Great video, I read the comments and no need to go there, good shooting Who-Tee, I like your Taurus better...the colt is a beautiful gun though. Keep em coming….
I have the Model 66 that I just bought last fall and love it. My son has the model 605 and loves it. Both revolvers are solid performers.
Great video WTW... I miss it last night.. See ya tonight..
I'll be there!
The pull of the trigger before it fires is called the take up cause it basically takes up the slack before the trigger break
Hey brother, I was wondering if you ever found a good holster for that 66? I've had one forever and only had nylon holsters for it, and I kind of want something more rigid and sturdy.
I had a custom holster made yrs ago
I oen a 367 Colt Python, it was built in 1975, when they were still built by craftsmen. In single action you can hardly tell when the trigger breaks big difference with the new Production Colts I’m guessing
Very good review. I am seriously considering buying a Taurus model 66. This video has encouraged me more! BTW you are shooting single action not double action...FYI....
Single action! Like to see you do this double action.
We talkin about the old python, or the new. I thought there were some birthing issues with the new one.(redesign )
I must have missed the video where he claimed to be an expert on anything. I believe he is an enthusiast who enjoys shooting different types of guns and I find his videos very entertaining. I'm 72 years old and I have been shooting since I was in single digits. And one thing I know for an absolute fact is people misspeak from time to time. And remember what he says at the beginning of just about every video? This is going to be a fun video. So sit back and have fun. And no I don't know him have never met him.
fun and educational for me!!
You oughta review one of those old Colt Double Action Army revolvers.
I’ve always liked the look of the python - 6 inch barrel one looks the best - I’m in the uk so can only dream of shooting those beautiful guns.
Come to California and I’ll let you shoot mine
Everyone deserves to shoot one
Was it 6 shots he fired or only 5? In all the excitement I kind of lost track myself! Haha, looked like fun.

I gots' ta know...
Your comment made my day.
Both very nice revolvers!
Low left shot is caused by to much finger on the trigger trigger on the pad not in the knuckle crease
