Taurus Tracker 627 Revolver - Seven Shot .357/.38

  • The Taurus Tracker series of revolvers are available in calibers from .17HMR to 44Mag. Let's take a look at the 627, a seven shot revolver chambered in .357Mag and will also handle .38 special and .38+P. The matt stainless steel barrel, cylinder and frame make cleanup easy and minimize the risk of corrosion. The 4" ported barrel helps minimize muzzle rise while .357s will provide ample protection against most threats.

    Thanks for your post. I've had my Taurus Tracker 627 for about 5 years. It's identical to yours. It's a pleasure to shoot.

    I've got the 627 4'" and I didn't realize when I bought it how much the top ports help with recoil. I found I was shooting low as a result of recoil anticipation when firing DA. It kicks about like a 9mm maybe a smidge more. I love this gun and its my daily open carry. Great video!

    If you're a Taurus fan, you should check out their Raging Hunter series. I have the .357mag version and love it because the forcing cone is massive, the cylinder walls are thick, and a little bit deeper as if it was specifically designed for experimental cartridge loads. It's basically a beefier Raging Bull.

    Taurus in general has really made some huge improvements in the last decade. I used to laugh at them, and now own 2. My G2C 9mm and my fun to carry 605 defender with 3 inch barrel get much more holster time than my Glock and my M&P, mostly because I just found more comfortable holsters and carry positions for both of them, but also because I trust them 99% as much as the S&W and 90% as much as the Glock.

    Nice review! Have a ton of six-shot Smiths but for some reason that extra round (7) in my cheap Burgo .32 seems so special. Seven shot and eight shot revolvers are a huge deal for extra capacity, matched with the revolver's inherent reliability. Love my semi-autos but will only ever trust my life to a revolver.

  • @artgoodmon5271
    @artgoodmon5271 Před rokem +3

    I just bought one! I see the biggest difference between Taurus and Smigh and Wesson is the trigger pull. The Smith is smoother. But triggers smooth out with use.
    The fully shrouded barrel is great. That should come standard on all revolvers. The porting is an excellent feature as well. .357 rounds do kick a bit....
    Front hi visibility front site is sweet. It could save your life.
    Cylinder lock up is definitely not Ruger GP 100 grade. But comparable to a Smith and Wesson. I would suggest shooting a ratio of 150 .38 to 50 .357. Or a steady diet of .38 +p.
    Great gun for an avid hiker, hunter, or California or Massachusetts resident. Or defensive minded homeowner.

    IMO the Taurus Tracker series in both 357 and 44 are a very good value. 4 years ago, when you could buy them for $375.00 they were an outstanding deal. I bought 1 in 44mag for my wife (We have a lot of bears where we hunt) and I've been very impressed with it. My wife is happy with it and shoots it well. Its not as nice as my S&W 629-1 44 mag, but it was 1/3 the price, is very accurate, nicely finished and has a nice trigger.

    I had a 605 that I used to carry 180 grain bear loads in. My old camping partner that passed away just over a year ago loveed that gun. I let him carry it and I just scared my 9 mm. That 605 is freaking loud!
    I was sleeping one night and my tent and he fired that thing off at some coyotes that got too close for comfort. That was a rude awakening! All I've ever had to do with coyotes as yell at them and they run off. I guess he just wanted to make a statement.
    It's been over a year since I've been back woods camping. I didn't just quit because my camping partner died. I had rotor cuff surgery last summer and I haven't been able to carry a backpack yet. It still gives you more peace of mind camping with someone as opposed to being alone. I'm not going to have no one to pull away from the riverbank because they're to drunk and just about to fall in the water. Where's the fun in that!?
    You look like your just about my age give or take. My friends are dropping like flies. It's hard to find anyone Stat likes camping in the Backwoods anymore. If I die camping I'll die doing what I love. Maybe I'll get me a Taurus 327. I've always wanted a tracker series 357 Magnum.

      @SmallCaliberArmsReview  Před rokem +1

      I haven't done any back woods camping in years. A couple buddies and I used to go hiking around Peace River in Florida when we were in our 20s. Sometimes we'd decide to go at about midnight, crossing the river with our gear over our heads and passing between the sets of gator eyes we'd spotted with a flashlight. Good times. We usually just carried a .22 rifle with us and never had to shoot at anything except a water moccasin.
      I love my 605, yes it is Loud! The 627 might be just a touch quieter but, it's got a good weight to it so it's a little easier to shoot.
      Thanks for sharing the story, I hope you find another camping partner, the outdoors is such a wonderful place.

    This was one of the first revolvers I got...actually maybe THE first I got...it's cool but I didn't dig how the grip felt even after I changed it out. Also kept having issues with the trigger biting my finger when I pulled it. It's not a bad gun but it wasn't for me. I sold it to someone and I'm presuming they still have it. Having 7 shots is definitely an advantage over other guns and the porting does help with recoil even with .357 magnum. Nice video and nice collection man.

      Sounds as if you may have some carbon packed in the detent causing it to get sticky. Try a good cleaner/lubricant and work the detent in and out while it's pointing downward. That should help loosen up the carbon and allow it to run out.
