    Here is a list I made up a little while ago of things I like to look at with my UV flashlights.
    - I find some flowers show amazing colors/patterns that can’t be seen with the naked eye. Check them at night of course.
    - My house’s Travertine (Limestone) flooring/tiles act like glow in the dark panels under the UV light. I noticed it first with my 405nm laser. You can draw with the laser on our tile, and it glows green for a few moments. I light paint on my floors with the laser/UV.
    - Petroleum jelly (Vaseline) glows a bright blue. Rub a glop of it on your skin, then hit it with the UV light. Draw a secret message with the Vaseline.
    - Nyogel 760g (has UV material so you can see where you spread it)
    - curing UV resin
    - your emitter phosphors on your flashlights (better with optics removed)
    - your teeth with most likely glow if you’ve used whitening toothpaste
    - Driver’s Licenses
    - Bank Cards / Credit Cards
    - Passports / Government documents
    - anything that is very white/neon. Manufacturers often add fluorescent materials to make these things look bright in sunlight (white garments / paper / teeth whiteners)
    - Tonic water (very blue, compare to regular water)
    - Some Vitamins
    - Chlorophyll (red)
    - Scorpions (greenish, check CZcams)
    - Antifreeze (added purposely so that auto investigators can track auto accidents)
    - some rocks / gemstones
    - proteins in bodily fluids (say no more)
    - Money (dollars / pesos / euros etc)
    - laundry detergent (blue)
    - Olive oil glows (orange/red)
    - banana spots (blue rings)
    - transparent plastics
    - some cosmetics
    - rock salt / turmeric / honey / ketchup / canola oil
    - spot pin-bones in uncooked fish
    - whole milk (bright green)

    About the issue with turbo turning on both channels, that'll be fixed soon in new firmware. On some lights it's a feature, while on other lights it's a bug... so new firmware lets the user choose. On a 2-channel light like this, the user can pick anywhere from 1 to 5 different channel modes to rotate through with 3 clicks:
    1. channel 1 only
    2. channel 2 only
    3. both (tied together, can reach 100% power on both simultaneously)
    4. both (adjustable blend)
    5. both (automatic blend based on ramp level)
    On a light configured with white + UV, I'd recommend only having modes 1 and 2 enabled. But on a light with warm white + cool white, it makes more sense to use mode 4 and maybe 5. And on a flood + throw light, I'd recommend enabling 1, 2, and maybe 3. The idea is, no matter what LEDs the user picks, there are appropriate modes available... and the others can be turned off.
    Of course, the firmware on older lights can be updated too, if you have a flashing adapter. I'm testing it right now, so the new build should be up soon.

    Thank you for the review!
    But you should use the pocket clip on it:
    - You noticed no mouth use. With the clip on you can bite on the clip (you don't want to bite on metal? Use heat shrink)
    - With the clip right under the head ( not as you mentioned at the end) you can clip it to your shirt collar or a shirt front pocket. That way you don't need a head band for handsfree use
    - get a fitting rectangular magnet for the clip and use heat shrink tube to secure it. Now you can stick the lamp to metal and point it in any direction. Rotate the lamp in the clip and / or on the magnet it covers a half dome.

      @LouisBurki Před 5 měsíci +3

      @@katebloggs8243 The magnet ? You insert it inside an heat shrink tube large enough to fit both the magnet and the clip, and you heat them so that the tube tightens and secure the magnet together with the clip. Then you can fix it anywhere as you wish.

    Love it, I've just ordered the same set as you. The UV is a nice added function, and to me the only viable really in a dual-channel light. If only Hank was also doing USB-C charging lights, that would be awesome.. There is no 14500 headlight for now with such an option, and I think it's a shame, so practical to be able to charge our lights anywhere with just a standard charger.

    • @LouisBurki
      @LouisBurki Před 5 měsíci

      @@AlcoveShadow Listen, I have the MC1, the MC1 Plus, the SV2 Rocket and the VC8 from XTAR, and I maintain what I said. Taking your battery out, searching for a charger, that sucks. The little rubber port from silicone, that I can't seem to loose on my other lights ? Doesn't sucks. Nothing beats the plug-it and ready, unplug-it and ready, always-with-you comfort that a USB-C port on the light gives you. Especially with a 14500 that has a tiny tiny capacity. Obviously, I'm not buying a Hank light out of the blue, and it's not my first Emisar. But to each it's own, if you don't like the ease-of-use of just pluging a cable in the light, and you love to unscrew the super-long thread of the Emisar D2, enjoy it ! I love this light since I have it, but to me it's a pain to keep it charged and ready to go.

    Wow, that's a nice light right there. I'm still a bit skittish around unprotected cells, but when I get the guts to fully do my research and give them a go, this bad boy is right at the top of my wishlist.

    • @cheule
      @cheule  Před rokem +8

      A protected cell has a little circuit at the top of the wrap that has programming to shut off the cell if it gets too low or the draw is too high.
      Anduril has its own low voltage projection built into the driver. And you want the ability to direct drive, which is why you want the cell unprotected. Basically, you’re letting the driver handle it rather than a cheapie circuit inside the battery wrapper.

    • @alanjervis9022
      @alanjervis9022 Před rokem +2

      There's no real need for protected cells in a light that has protection built in. However, you will want to use a Vapcell H10 in a D2 to avoid one downside most other 14500's share with all protected cells; low discharge rate.

    • @MrJed_s
      @MrJed_s Před rokem +2

      @@cheule do you know if protected batteries always shut off when the draw is too high, or do some just cap the draw? I emailed Hank about USB-chargeable batteries and he said he could modify the driver to fit a Lumentop USB-C charging protected battery. I assume he wouldn't have said yes if the light would just shut off under higher modes, but I'm a bit clueless when it comes to these things.

    • @alanjervis9022
      @alanjervis9022 Před rokem +3

      The D2 defied a lot of expectations.
      Angle light? Okay, there's 14500 headlamps...
      Dual-3535 emitters in a 14500 light? Umm... interesting choice....
      Putting a reflector behind the ZWB in that tiny head? Okay, that may as well happen...
      There's so many things about the D2 that sound weird, but when you actually get one in your hand and see how it all comes together, you realize how truly great this little light is.

    I actually usually and almost think that I’ve never taken or put on a pocket clip to any flashlight where I was worried about scratching the anodization. I think maybe I’ve done it with like older beater flashlights that I don’t really care about. I’m kind of like that with certain things if they’re in my collection. I have users that I don’t care what they look like and then I have another category. And I’ve thought about a method of putting those clips on that could either completely eliminate scratches or at least help. If you take straws like drinking straws or the smaller straws that are used for stirring and you put the pointy parts of the scratchy metal into two pieces of a straw because obviously you would have to cut the straw and then you slide the straw with the clip inside of it onto the flashlight, and then you withdraw the straw afterwards with pliers or some thing that you could use to pull them off and so this way the metal would just be dropping down onto the flashlight while you remove the straw instead of you just pushing and scratching the anodization. It’s a hack. I’ve been thinking about trying for a while but I haven’t gotten around to it. If anybody tries it and has good success, let me know. And if for some reason you had trouble getting the straw out, you could probably even cut the straw and worst case scenario you’ll just have to take off the whole thing remove the straw and then you’re just stuck with the problem you had in the beginning.😊

    Even as an enthusiast it’s nice to see the model number on the flashlight. No lanyard hole is better than the dreaded ‘gouging nub’ design seen even on top models!!? - such as on the D4SV2 and K1. The D1/D4V2/D1K design looks sleeker and doesn’t dig into your palm - just by machining the hole further down from the base, thus creating the round flat tail end we all prefer. Just saying. You just sold another Hank light with this D2, the design is quite unique so it’s got to be in the menagerie. There’s just one thing, a good clip, so we can EDC. The narrow bands on these spring-style clips just don’t work, just a bump and you’ve possibly lost your little treasure of a light! You have to go wide and deep bands/channels like Olights’ Baton 3 Pro to get any good retention. I would like to see more clip designs that are cinched between the tube and tailcap with a simple loop à la the KR4. The right length, thickness, color, shape could sell more flashlights IMO. Just saying. Thanks for your thorough, informative work as per usual. Great stuff for a flashaholic. 👍🤟

    Looks awesome, I think I will have to get one. I'm thinking with such a small optic it would do best with a throwy led like the W1, the trade off would be lumens and color profile with that pick but it should be more useful outdoors. Mules don't do well in large areas.
    I use to have a K1 with W1 that could throw a beam a literal mile I believe.
